Shen Weiyi’s heart couldn’t help but "thump, thump—" beating fiercely.

Suddenly, a voice from inside the house, Situ Jing’s, called out, "Who’s there?"

Shen Weiyi’s hair stood on end, and in a rush, she pushed Sheng Ting out of the way and greeted Situ Jing inside, "Aunt Jing, I came to see you and Little Bao."

Situ Jing’s voice rose with delight, "Is that Yiyi? Come in, I just baked a cake, you’ve arrived just in time, come and try it."

Luckily, Situ Jing only called out from inside the house and did not come out to see, so she didn’t notice anything unusual about the two.

But Shen Weiyi was terribly nervous.

"Great, I haven’t had breakfast yet, I will have to eat a bit more then." While responding, she glanced up and gave Sheng Ting a fierce look, her cheeks flushed pink, and with a mix of shyness and annoyance, she lowered her voice and demanded, "Didn’t you say Aunt Jing wasn’t home?"

Sheng Ting’s lips curved up ever so slightly, his dark eyes brimming with laughter as he said, "I lied."

Shen Weiyi couldn’t help but widen her eyes, having not expected Sheng Ting to be this kind of person.

"Yiyi!" Little Bao heard the commotion, ran out from his room, and joyously threw himself at Shen Weiyi, only to be scooped up by a large hand stretched out from the side.

Young Sheng Yan lifted his head and, seeing it was Sheng Ting who picked him up, immediately scowled and struggled unhappily, "Put me down now." When Sheng Ting held on to him, he turned to Shen Weiyi for rescue, "Yiyi, save me!"

"Call her sister!" Sheng Ting tapped his little head with his hand.

"I won’t." Little Douding was already over four years old, his features growing more and more similar to Sheng Ting’s. Looking at him, one could easily imagine what Sheng Ting looked like as a child.

"Don’t bully him," Shen Weiyi glared at Sheng Ting, taking the boy from Sheng Ting’s arms.

Young Sheng Yan skillfully wrapped his arms around Shen Weiyi’s neck, snuggling into her soft, fragrant embrace and lifted his little head triumphantly at Sheng Ting.

"You shouldn’t spoil him," Sheng Ting glanced at Little Douding, then shifted his gaze back to Shen Weiyi; his cold voice carried a trace of indulgence.

"Far from it, Little Bao is very well-behaved." Because of her breakup with Sheng Ting, Shen Weiyi had visited the Sheng family home less frequently over the past year. Nevertheless, Sheng Yan had grown increasingly attached to her. The little guy wasn’t big, but he was exceptionally smart, far more understanding than other children his age, speaking and acting more and more like a little adult.

But no matter how clever he was, he was still just a child, and inevitably he would act childishly at times.

Like now, sliding down from Shen Weiyi’s arms, he stood with a stern face and in a grown-up tone told Sheng Ting, "Yiyi’s here to see me, so go busy yourself with your own things; don’t disturb us."

"Is that so?" Sheng Ting looked towards Shen Weiyi, his demeanor slow and unhurried, a smile on his face, but not quite smiling.

Shen Weiyi’s face heated up involuntarily, and bearing his gaze, she said, "Yes, that’s right, I’m here to see Aunt Jing and Little Bao."

"Did you hear that? You should leave now," Little Douding urged.

"This is my house; where should I go?" Sheng Ting walked over and sat down on a nearby sofa.

Sheng Xiaodouding snorted, "I heard you just now; you said you were going back to school."

Shen Weiyi immediately turned to look at Sheng Ting.

Sheng Ting replied, unfazed, "Oh, I don’t feel like going back now."

After a disdainful look at Sheng Ting, Little Douding turned around and said to Shen Weiyi, "If he’s not leaving, we will. I’ll take you to my room." Having said that, he reached to pull her away.
