Chapter 269: Chapter 269: If You Like Him, Then Go Get Him Back

Lying in bed, Shen Weiyi texted Shen Tan: "He’s back."

Shen Tan: "Who?"

Shen Weiyi: "Sheng Ting."

Shen Tan: "Oh."

How could this girl’s reaction be so indifferent?

Shen Weiyi turned over and continued texting while lying on the pillow: "Have you ever had the experience of feeling your heart flutter upon seeing someone after you’ve broken up?"

Shen Tan: "Why don’t you just say you still like him?"

Shen Weiyi: ...

After a moment, the other party’s message came through again.

Shen Tan: "If you like him, then go win him back."

Shen Weiyi: "But what if he doesn’t like me anymore?"

Shen Tan: "How will you know it’s impossible without trying? You’ve got to give it a shot to know the outcome."

Shen Weiyi closed her phone and lay on her back in bed. The light on the ceiling spread out evenly, forming a warm yellow halo. Unconsciously, her mind flooded with the bits and pieces of their relationship since they met, finally focusing on Sheng Ting’s composed face.

She tossed and turned, unable to sleep the whole night.

When Shen Weiyi finally made up her mind, a week had passed.

First, she asked Xie Hongfei for their class schedules; since she’d decided to win him back, naturally she needed to assume the posture of someone in pursuit.

"You’re looking for third? He hasn’t been coming to class recently. You could go to the lab or directly to his place."

"He doesn’t stay in the dormitory?" Shen Weiyi asked, puzzled.

Xie Hongfei: "He rented an apartment near the school."

"Oh, and third has been sick recently. When you see him, remind him to rest more. Research never ends; don’t neglect your health."

"He’s sick?" Shen Weiyi clutched her phone, her chest involuntarily tightening.

Xie Hongfei: "During our major class this morning, I heard him coughing constantly. Probably caught a cold. I reckon he won’t take medicine himself, so you could bring some for him."

"Alright."

Shen Weiyi arrived at the apartment complex following the address Xie Hongfei gave her.

She knocked for a long time with no answer.

Just as she was about to leave, she saw the elevator doors open.

Sheng Ting, carrying things, walked out of the elevator and paused upon seeing Shen Weiyi at the door. "How did you get here?"

"I heard you were sick, so I came to see you," Shen Weiyi said.

Sheng Ting’s motion to unlock the door halted momentarily. He lowered his head, avoiding her gaze, then pushed open the door and said to her, "Come in!"

After changing shoes, Sheng Ting took out a pair of pink slippers from the shoe cabinet and handed them to her. "You can wear these."

Shen Weiyi stared at the slippers in his hand, lost in thought.

Why does he have women’s slippers at his place?

Could it be that other women have been here?

Sheng Ting set down the slippers and turned to enter the apartment.

Shen Weiyi snapped back to reality, changed her shoes, and followed him in.

The apartment he rented was a small two-bedroom. It wasn’t big, but it was tidy and didn’t resemble the living space of a single bachelor.

After entering, Sheng Ting placed the items in his hands into the refrigerator one by one, then poured a glass of water for Shen Weiyi. "Make yourself at home," he said, then took a seat on the living room couch with his laptop.

Seeing him ready to work, Shen Weiyi unconsciously tightened her grip on her glass. "Am I disturbing you?"

Sheng Ting stopped what he was doing and looked up at her with an inscrutable gaze.

Feeling uneasy under his stare, Shen Weiyi coughed lightly and said, "I’ll just look around, you carry on." Then, clutching her glass, she turned away.

The apartment was small, and it didn’t take many steps to see it all.
