The hot pot was served quickly, with a thick layer of oil and chili peppers floating on top.

The broth bubbled, and the aroma wafted out quickly.

Sheng Ting picked up a piece of cooked vegetable and put it in his mouth, finding it much spicier than he had imagined. He frowned slightly but soon swallowed it without showing any signs.

Looking at Shen Tan and Shen Weiyi, their expressions were normal, clearly used to eating this often.

"Are you okay?" Shen Weiyi was keeping an eye on Sheng Ting’s direction.

"I’m fine!"

However, from then on, he dipped the vegetables in sesame sauce, which noticeably reduced the spiciness.

Although he acted normal, he reached for his chopsticks significantly less often than Shen Weiyi and Shen Tan.

"Drink this, it will help," Shen Weiyi said as he stood up and left for a moment. He returned with a bottle of fresh milk and handed it to Sheng Ting, "Milk can relieve the spiciness and protect the stomach."

Across the table, Shen Tan stared at Sheng Ting intently while eating.

After leaving the hot pot restaurant, Shen Weiyi and Sheng Ting walked Shen Tan back to the bar to pick up her car.

Shen Tan asked Shen Weiyi, "Do you need a ride back?"

"No thanks, you go ahead!"

Shen Weiyi glanced at Sheng Ting next to her, and Shen Tan instantly understood, "Forgot, you already have a boyfriend now. Okay, I’ll leave first."

"Be careful on the road," Shen Weiyi cautioned.

"Don’t worry! But you, remember to go home early, it’s not safe for a girl to return home too late," Shen Tan winked at her.

Shen Weiyi blushed slightly, "Got it, I’ll head back soon."

Then, Shen Tan opened her car door, changed into flats, and, regarding the high heels she used earlier to hit someone, casually tossed them into a nearby trash bin. After getting into her red sports car, she waved at them and disappeared into the night.

Shen Weiyi turned back and asked Sheng Ting, "Are you going home tonight or back to the dorm?"

Sheng Ting replied, "I’ll head to the dorm first, then take you home."

"Mhm!" Shen Weiyi nodded.

They walked towards the school.

"Did something happen today?" Sheng Ting asked on the way.

"Why do you ask?" Shen Weiyi looked at him, surprised.

"Nothing, just felt like you seemed preoccupied," Sheng Ting stopped walking and gently rubbed her head, speaking softly, "If something’s bothering you, you can tell me."

Given her nature, running off to a bar late at night was probably not just for curiosity’s sake.

"It’s nothing really, just went back to the old house tonight." She always ended up facing unhappy situations whenever she visited the old house, and she had grown used to it.

Though she didn’t go into detail, it was apparent that her interactions with her family were not enjoyable.

Sheng Ting glanced at her and said, "Getting along with people requires destiny, sometimes even with family."

"You’re right," Shen Weiyi lifted her head and smiled at him.

Perhaps she and the people at the old house were not meant to be family. If it weren’t for Shen Juanzhi’s sake, she wouldn’t want to go back to the Shen Family. But then again, Shen Juanzhi might not want her to return; maybe next time, there was no need to make herself suffer.

When they reached the entrance of the men’s dorm, Sheng Ting first went to the dorm supervisor to retrieve his suitcase and then turned to Shen Weiyi, "Want to come up and sit for a bit?"
