Chapter 523: Truth 2

"Talking about what?" Li Mengjie wasn’t actually asleep, and upon hearing the question, she turned around, her face wearing a strange smile as she looked at Ling Xuejiu, and said, "Xue Jiu, could it be that you’re feeling ’springy’?"

"Huh?" Ling Xuejiu was taken aback, then quickly realized what that meant and said with a blush, "You little dead girl, it’s you who’s feeling ’springy’!"

"Hehe, Xue Jiu, you’re getting angry out of embarrassment, right?" Li Mengjie said with a laugh.

"Humph!" Ling Xuejiu rolled her eyes, then with a serious face said, "Alright, Xiao Jie, let’s not talk about this anymore. Shall we talk about something else, okay?"

"Hmm~! Alright then, what should we talk about?" Li Mengjie wondered aloud, then suddenly smiled with squinted eyes, "How about we share some truths? Hehe, Xue Jiu, it seems like we hardly ever speak our hearts out anymore now that we’ve grown up."

"Hehe." Ling Xuejiu also chuckled and said, "Sure, but what kind of truths should we talk about?"

"Do you still remember the truths you used to tell me when we were kids?" asked Li Mengjie.

"Hm!" Ling Xuejiu was a little puzzled by Li Mengjie’s question and said, "I said so many truths back then, how could I remember them all? However, I do remember some."

Li Mengjie giggled and said, "So what do you remember?"

Ling Xuejiu said, "I remember you saying that when you grow up, you wanted to be an angel with wings so that you could fly anywhere to play."

Li Mengjie’s little face turned red; thinking back, all these groundless things were indeed quite childish. Not wanting to be outdone, she brought up Ling Xuejiu’s embarrassing moments and said, "You said that when you grow up, you wanted to go to the moon to see Sister Chang’e, huh!"

Ling Xuejiu couldn’t help but laugh. After watching a TV series called ’The Brilliant Pig Bajie,’ she felt pity for Chang’e, the lonely Fairy living in that cold, icy Moon Palace. So she wanted to go up there to keep Chang’e company. Thinking about it now was both annoying and funny, and she said, "You little dead girl, you dare to laugh at me? Don’t forget, back then you also said you were an Angel who could take me to see Sister Chang’e."

"Hehe..." Li Mengjie laughed and said, "I remember that I used to not want to do my homework and always let you do it first. Once you were done, I would copy yours. Later, when you found out, you hid your homework away. You were really bad."

"..." Ling Xuejiu was briefly stunned; this was the past, hardly relevant to revealing truths. Yet, when Xiao Jie talked about it, she couldn’t help but reminisce about those happy times. She pursed her lips and said, "What do you mean I was really bad? I did that for your own good, you know. If you just copy my homework all the time, how could your academic performance improve?"

"Hmm~! That’s true." Li Mengjie said, seemingly acknowledging her fault, but then she added something that almost made Ling Xuejiu faint from frustration, "Back then, I scored full marks on every test. Even if I wanted to improve, I couldn’t, could I?"

Ling Xuejiu said irritably, "Smug Xiao Jie, just be proud of yourself."

Li Mengjie chuckled and said, "Xue Jiu, the things we thought of when we were kids really were so naive, weren’t they?"

"Who hasn’t had a naive time?" Ling Xuejiu pouted, then added, "But, Xiao Jie, have you noticed? When we were kids, we actually had it pretty good, didn’t we? All carefree and happy every day!"
