"Hmm, Xue Jiu, I just remembered, there’s hardly anything left in the fridge. I’ll go grocery shopping with Cold Bodyguard. Do you want to come?" Seeing Ling Xuejiu spacing out alone, Li Mengjie brought up Leng Xuan out of boredom, using the grocery shopping as nothing more than an excuse.

"Um, you guys..." Ling Xuejiu started to say, then paused. Since when was Xiao Jie so diligent? It was just grocery shopping. Couldn’t Leng Xuan go by himself? Why did she need to go with him? Could it be... Thinking of this, she felt a bit uncomfortable, curled her lip, and said, "Isn’t it fine for him to go alone? Why do two people need to go together? Leaving me here all by myself, how boring would that be!"

"Oh, I see!" Ling Xuejiu knew full well that Li Mengjie was just making excuses, but she didn’t call her out on it, saying, "Well then... I’ll go too. I’ll choose the vegetables I like to eat."

With that, the two girls went downstairs. Leng Xuan, who was currently online in his room, was interrupted by Li Mengjie walking in and saying, "Cold Bodyguard, let’s go buy groceries. The fridge is empty."

Turning around to look at Li Mengjie, Leng Xuan felt a slight surprise and asked, "You’re going too?"

With a playful smile, Li Mengjie said, "Xue Jiu said she’s afraid you won’t pick things that taste good, so we’re going together. Besides, with us there, you can save some money on vegetables, right? Come on, get up and let’s go."

In reality, Ling Xuejiu was standing right by the door and overheard Li Mengjie. A wave of exasperation swept over her. It had been Mengjie’s idea to accompany Leng Xuan to the store, but now somehow it seemed like it was her own idea?

This best friend really left Ling Xuejiu speechless. These kinds of things were hard to explain, as it would only make matters worse. She could only bear with it, though inwardly she furiously cursed Li Mengjie in all manner of ways.

Leng Xuan was slightly taken aback, then simply laughed it off without saying much. He stood up and followed Li Mengjie out. Seeing Ling Xuejiu standing outside, he gave her a look that made her blush and turn away her gaze. She glared resentfully at Li Mengjie, who responded by playfully sticking out her tongue.

Once they left the house, Leng Xuan headed straight for the gate of the villa complex. Confused, Li Mengjie called out to him, "Hey, Cold Bodyguard, why aren’t we driving there?"

Glancing back, Leng Xuan said, "I checked online just now. There’s a place to buy vegetables inside Imperial Scenery Garden, near building nineteen in phase three. We can just walk there."

"Oh, really?" Li Mengjie responded, "I had no idea." But thinking about it, she seemed to have never really explored phase three. She exchanged a look with Ling Xuejiu and followed Leng Xuan.

Passing through phase two of the villa area, Leng Xuan saw a man sitting under a tree shade on a bench about thirty meters away, smoking and occasionally glancing at a villa across from him. His demeanor was pretty sleazy and his clothes didn’t suggest he was wealthy. Leng Xuan found it odd and kept an eye on him, though he pretended not to pay much attention.
