Chapter 92: Chapter 105: Mixed Element Fire Lotus

Chen Nan’s heart was somewhat excited; however, when he took a closer look, he realized something was amiss.

The little junior sister was a great lover of calligraphy, her accomplishment in it had already reached the pinnacle. The characters she wrote possessed both softness and strength, with a unique charm. Those originally dull characters seemed to come to life once they came from her hand, exuding an elegant temperament. Yet this "leaf" character on the handkerchief, though well-crafted, was still far from matching her calligraphy.

"Could it be that she hasn’t practiced much these years and her calligraphy has regressed?"

Chen Nan pocketed the handkerchief and rushed into the forest, continuing the chase.

It was less a chase than a blind search. After all, for a martial arts expert, employing Qinggong allowed one to leave no trace in the snow; and in this forest filled with fallen branches and leaves, it was impossible to find footprints.

Chen Nan loudly called out his little junior sister’s name, searching aimlessly throughout the forest. Eventually, without finding anything, he had no choice but to give up.

As he walked step by step out of the forest, Chen Nan felt puzzled. Regardless of whether that person was his little junior sister, why would she run after seeing Huo Xinya?

"Didn’t catch up?"

Huo Xinya ran over from a distance, looking at Chen Nan and asked.

Chen Nan took out the handkerchief and handed it to her, "I only found this; it must have fallen from her."

Huo Xinya took the handkerchief and studied it, frowning, "This writing doesn’t look like my sister’s."

"Indeed, it doesn’t."

Chen Nan nodded and said, "Maybe you recognized the wrong person. If it really was Yiyi, she would have been happy to see you, so why would she run away?"

Huo Xinya fell silent for a while, then said, "I’m also puzzled. If she wasn’t my sister but some other stranger, there’s no reason for her to run either!"

"Maybe..."

Just as Chen Nan was about to speak, he felt an intense pain in his head, as if it was about to split apart, unbearable.

Stopping in his tracks, Chen Nan crouched on the ground with his hands covering his head, his body slightly trembling. Beads of cold sweat the size of peas appeared on his forehead. He pounded his head forcefully, but the pain did not subside at all.

Startled, Huo Xinya by his side exclaimed, "What’s... what happened to you?"

"It’s nothing, just an... an old ailment."

Chen Nan continued to pound his head, clenching his teeth so hard that his voice trembled, "I’ve had this since I was a child, every... it hurts like this once or twice a month."

Seeing his pain, Huo Xinya panicked inside, "Is there no way to help? Let me take you to the hospital."

"The hospital is useless. My master, known as the Poison Hand Medicine King, couldn’t cure it; what can the hospital do?" Chen Nan sat on the ground, sweat pouring down, quickly soaking his clothes.

Others might describe their headaches as a Tightening Ring spell, but Chen Nan felt his was even more unbearable than that curse.

"Since it’s an old ailment, do you have any painkillers on you? I’ll get them for you." Huo Xinya was anxious and didn’t know what to do.

"This ailment is strange; no matter how strong the painkiller, it’s useless."

Chen Nan kept pounding his head, his eyes red with blood vessels, staring somewhat fiercely at Huo Xinya, "You’d better get away from me. Otherwise, I might lose control and hurt you."

Huo Xinya shook her head repeatedly, "No, I can’t leave when you are in such pain."

Chen Nan used his True Qi to suppress the pain, his eyes bloodshot as he glared at Huo Xinya, roaring loudly, "Go! I don’t need your help! Get away!"

Huo Xinya kept shaking her head.

Chen Nan was now suffering from a headache, and he couldn’t bear to leave him here alone, but she couldn’t bring herself to do that.

As the pain intensified, the True Qi within Chen Nan’s body also became turbulent and his control over his body began to falter; suddenly, he threw a punch with all his might, shattering a thousand-pound boulder in front of him into pieces, causing True Qi to surge and stone shards to scatter.

"I can’t control my body! Stay away from me," Chen Nan, his body radiating True Qi, shouted as his clothes vibrated from the energy, "Go! Otherwise, you’ll just be a burden to me!"

With gritted teeth, Huo Xinya had no choice but to turn around and walk behind a large tree ten meters away.

"Ugh ah!"

Chen Nan let out a long howl to the sky, the powerful aura emanating from his body causing Huo Xinya, even from a distance, to feel a surge of panic.

"Boom..."

Suddenly, Chen Nan leapt into the air, True Qi erupting from his body, and like a shooting star falling from the sky, he crashed to the ground, creating a human-shaped crater, and his overbearing True Qi completely ground the surrounding rocks to dust.

Afterward, he slammed his fists into the ground and rocketed back up several meters into the air, his aura growing even more violent, as if he were a rampaging, furious lion plunging back to the ground again.

"Boom..."

It was as if a thunderclap had sounded, the ground shook, rocks flew through the air, and True Qi shot out in all directions, yet his body remained unscathed.

Hearing those loud bangs, Huo Xinya bit down hard on her teeth, twisted her clothes with her hands, and watched Chen Nan with a pained expression, tears rolling down her cheeks. How much pain must he be feeling for the ground to be pocked with such large craters?

About five minutes passed, and after a loud shout from Chen Nan, he finally calmed down and collapsed unconscious to the ground.

"Hey, are you alright? Wake up quickly."

Huo Xinya hurriedly ran over, grabbed Chen Nan’s arm, and shook it, then pressed her hands against his chest, channeling True Qi into him.

Before long, Chen Nan woke up, rubbed his temples, and sat up.

"Are you okay?" Huo Xinya asked with concern.

"I’m fine."

Chen Nan shook his head and smiled, "I’ve gotten used to it over so many years. Eh, what’s wrong with you? Why are you crying?"

Seeing Huo Xinya’s moist eyes, Chen Nan was somewhat surprised.

"Ah? No... It’s nothing," Huo Xinya wiped her eyes, "Just got some sand in them."

She couldn’t understand why, watching Chen Nan in such pain had also made her feel terribly uncomfortable, as if the headache wasn’t Chen Nan’s but her own.

Chen Nan nodded, not dwelling on it, and pointed ahead, "Let’s go."

Huo Xinya followed behind him, her heart fluttering as she thought about her tears, "You’ve been this way since you were a child, is there really no cure for your condition?"

"It’s basically incurable," Chen Nan shook his head, "According to my master, the only thing that could cure my condition is the legendary Mixed Element Fire Lotus, but this Fire Lotus is only mentioned in legends and has never been seen in reality."

Huo Xinya scratched her head, "Mixed Element Fire Lotus? No wonder my sister, when she had nothing to do, always muttered these four words to herself in a corner. So this was the reason."
