"Idiot, you’re screwed, Teacher Lan has discovered your affair," Su Qingqing said with a giggle.

"Affair my ass!"

Chen Nan tapped her on the head lightly and then stood up and walked away.

When Su Qingqing snapped back to reality, she touched her head with a sullen expression, "Damn fool, you dare to hit me, I curse you to step on dog poop when you go out."

No sooner had Su Qingqing finished speaking than Chen Nan, just stepping out of the classroom, felt his foot press down on something. On looking, it wasn’t dog poop but a crumpled hundred yuan note, "This kind of ’poop,’ I’d be happy to step on every day!"

Huo Xinya remained silent, head bowed. She wasn’t adept at lying.

"So neither of you admits it?" Lan Yuqin took out two exam papers, specifically Chen Nan and Huo Xinya’s English papers, "According to Teacher Li, your English is just so-so. But the results of this test were quite surprising. On question thirty-six, the entire class got it wrong, except for the two of you, even Su Qingqing got it wrong. What Lan Yuqin said was actually quite tactful; Chen Nan’s English wasn’t just average—it was hopelessly bad.

Huo Xinya was about to confess to helping Chen Nan with answers when he interrupted her, "That’s right, I copied from her. My vision is good. I could see her paper from my seat."

Huo Xinya tried to speak, but Chen Nan pulled her back, signaling her not to talk.

"Is that really how it was?" Lan Yuqin, frowning, looked at Huo Xinya and said, "You were about to say something. Continue."

"She said she didn’t let me copy on purpose." Chen Nan interjected, "Teacher, I should face the consequences since I was the one who copied. Punish me however you see fit; it has nothing to do with her."

Seeing Huo Xinya about to protest again, Chen Nan pulled her back once more.

Standing behind and to the side of her, Chen Nan gently pulled her hand, writing on her palm with his finger: It’s better for one to be punished than for two, and besides, you were trying to help me. If you get in trouble because of me, I’ll feel guilty.

Lan Yuqin watched the two of them, sensing something off in Huo Xinya’s expression. "Xinya, you better tell me the truth, is what he’s saying legitimate?"

"I..."

Seeing that Huo Xinya was still hesitating, Chen Nan pulled her again and she finally nodded, "Yes... it’s true."

"Fine, go back to the classroom then," Lan Yuqin said dismissively.

Turning around, Huo Xinya gave Chen Nan a deep look before walking out of the office.

As soon as she left, Lan Yuqin stood up with a mocking smile and walked over, looking Chen Nan up and down, "I would’ve never guessed, you scoundrel, yet you know how to treat a lady with kindness."

Chen Nan’s heart lurched, could she know?

"I don’t understand what you mean."

"No more playing dumb." Lan Yuqin glanced at Chen Nan and said, "Do I not understand what kind of person Xinya is? She gets nervous when she lies and stutters while talking. Besides, if you really peeked at her answers, Su Qingqing was sitting closer to you than she was. Why didn’t you copy from her but instead go out of your way to copy from someone farther away? Chen Nan, do you really think I’m a fool?"

At a loss for words, Chen Nan lowered his head and remained silent.

Lan Yuqin said earnestly, "The reason I called you here wasn’t necessarily to punish you, but I hope you understand that copying from someone else is useless. You have to rely on yourself. Do you understand?"

Chen Nan chuckled, "I got it. You said you’re not going to punish me."

Lan Yuqin was exasperated, was this guy even human? She gave him a long, educational talk, which he ignored, only picking out the part about not being punished.

"Do you want to learn English?" Lan Yuqin asked.

"Of course, I do!"

Chen Nan wasn’t lying. He really did want to learn, hoping to show off in front of his junior sister in the future. He didn’t listen in class because he couldn’t understand any of it.

Lan Yuqin nodded, "If that’s the case, then you should study properly. Both Huo Xinya and Su Qingqing are good at English. If you don’t understand the lesson, you can ask them to tutor you. Since Su Qingqing is your cousin and you’re on good terms with Huo Xinya, that shouldn’t be a problem, right?"

"No problem."

Lan Yuqin nodded and then took out some paper and a pen. "Come here and write these characters for me."

"You want to steal my calligraphy skills again? You’ll have to pay tuition for that!"

Sighing, Chen Nan walked over reluctantly and wrote the characters for her.

"Alright, that’s it for you. Go back to your classroom," Lan Yuqin said, seemingly eager to get rid of him. Waving her hand, she added, "Oh, and remember, tomorrow is Saturday. Make sure to come with me to visit my grandfather’s injury. Don’t turn off your phone."

"I absolutely have to turn it off, how can I not?"

Chen Nan left the office with a wry smile, Lan Yuqin’s muttering following him: "Little punk!"
