Chapter 581: Chapter 560 What Kind of PLAY is This? (1st Update)

Zhao Mingwei led many players to go fight the so-called... instances that could farm experience.

Yelena, as usual, helped Lazy Lazy water and nurture the flowers.

The Active Nucleus nursery was no longer the shabby little plot it originally was; Lazy Lazy had transformed it into a gigantic glass garden that, from a distance, looked like some sort of spectacular construction.

Afterward, Lazy Lazy hired quite a few NPCs to help manage the medicinal herbs, with most of the potion ingredients used by the Active Nucleus players being produced here.

While watering flowers, Yelena discovered her finger had been cut by the leaf of a herb called Wolf’s Blood Sword Grass.

Not until the blood reached her wrist did she notice it.

"Distracted?"

A somewhat familiar voice rang in Yelena’s ear; she looked up in shock to find Rosh standing before her, not knowing when he had appeared.

"You... are that..."

"A Hunter from the Sustainable Sanctuary, you can see me as such," Rosh said, handing Yelena a fast-acting healing spray produced by the Sustainable Sanctuary.

"Thank you, but I have my healing medication."

Yelena took out a Healing Potion prepared by Lazy Lazy and sprayed it on her finger. The wound on her finger healed up very quickly.

"Are you satisfied with life here?" Rosh suddenly asked, looking at the healed wound on Yelena’s finger.

"Of course I’m satisfied... I can eat my fill here, and the Eternals are very nice to me, every day life is very... comfortable."

Yelena didn’t understand why Rosh suddenly asked her that question, but compared to the impoverishment of her past as a ’normal person,’ life as an Eternal NPC could be described as carefree.

On Biland Island, there was no longer any danger to speak of, and Holy Spirit City was becoming more and more prosperous.

For Yelena, who used to be quite a "salted fish" in terms of character, this was a perfect life, at least it used to be...

"But have you ever thought about fighting side by side with the Eternals?"

Rosh had many things she wanted to say to Yelena. In her opinion, Yelena... or rather most of the NPCs at Active Nucleus base, seemed more like pets kept by the Eternals than residents.

The attitude of the Eternals toward NPCs was more like that towards pet cats.

But Rosh wouldn’t say such hurtful things directly; instead, she asked the question that was the real reason she had sought out Yelena.

"I’d like to, but I’m too weak; I would only hold my master back..." Yelena had never thought about joining Zhao Mingwei on the battlefield in the past.

She sought a comfortable life, but after Qi Junzi started staying by Zhao Mingwei’s side for longer periods, this idea grew stronger. Her relationship with Zhao Mingwei was unequal.

Zhao Mingwei was more of an elder to her, rather than a peer.

"The expedition plan, or using the Eternals’ term, the Expedition System, I remember the Eternal who’s often with you took you to try it at the Sustainable Sanctuary," Rosh said.

"I did try! But the master said that thing harms the body, so he wouldn’t let me continue," Yelena gently nodded her head, not quite sure what the Expedition System was.

"Indeed, the control of large-scale units of extinction can cause damage to the body, but this damage tolerance can be trained. And whether it’s the healing techniques of the Eternals or the treatment methods of the Sustainable Sanctuary, both can quickly heal your wounds."

Rosh stretched out her finger towards Yelena’s cut finger, whose wound had already healed as before.

"But the master won’t let me..."

"If you want to remain a good child, I’ll choose to leave," Rosh finally learned some cunning negotiation tactics at that moment, and this sentence hit precisely where Yelena cared the most.

"I... if I try, it should be okay."

"Thank you,"

Rosh let out a long sigh of relief.

Since the introduction of the mentor-apprentice system by the Eternals, it has mostly been used by high-level players on lower-level players, with very few NPCs truly sticking with it.

It’s not that the NPCs who sought tutelage from the Eternals couldn’t endure the torment of the Divine Power; it was that the Eternals were too kind-hearted.

The players simply couldn’t bear to see their lovely students struggling in pain while learning the power of the Devouring God.

Therefore, Lion Heart Yoga’s recruitment action was unilaterally canceled by the players. Even Rosh repeatedly requested and told the president that she had no problems whatsoever.

The seed of power within Rosh was also removed by Zhao Mingwei at the president’s request.

Now the only NPC who had inherited the power of the Devouring God was Yelena, along with a few unloved NPCs from the Sustainable Sanctuary...

Rosh needed a chance, a chance to prove herself.

But when Rosh sneaked out of the back door of the nursery with Yelena, General Yin seemed to have anticipated Rosh’s action and had been waiting at the back door for a long time.

"Miss Rosh, good afternoon... Are you here to find some herbs?" General Yin greeted Rosh enthusiastically, "And isn’t the one behind you the little gardener from our base?"

The Yelena hiding behind Rosh still got recognized by General Yin at a glance.

"Miss Rosh, I know you are eager for us, the Spiritual Bodies, to try the expedition system, but could you wait until the Spiritual Bodies figure out how to pass their powers on to your Sanctuary members in a more... peaceful manner?"

General Yin saw through Rosh’s purpose at a glance. The mentoring system, shortly after being released, was immediately blasted by a ton of players on the forums.

Let’s face it, the NPCs that players are willing to take as disciples are certainly those with very good relationships with the players, but who knows once the players pass their powers to these NPCs through the mentoring system, things are fine at first... yet over time, these poor NPCs began to lose health crazily and had their life caps deducted, along with various negative statuses.

The fear of their beloved pets dying made players dare not to teach their own NPCs anymore hastily looking for the omnipotent Zhao Mingwei to wipe out the power seeds.

But this barrage against the mentoring system all comes down to the players’ unfamiliarity with their own powers.

Yelena from the Zhao Mingwei family is now at level thirty-five in Mind Energy cultivation and can even cast Charged Thought Cannons without any problems.

Power control... Power control, that’s the most mentioned term by players in the new version.

"You have never faced the Void Swarm head-on. If you let them be, they grow stronger every second, and those born of the Eternal bloodline will destroy the order of this star map!"

Rosh views the problem from the perspective of a professional Void Swarm Hunter, having seen too many planes and races devoured by the Void Swarm over the years.

"I know... I’m anxious too, but could you wait a little longer, Miss Rosh? The Spiritual Bodies have now unlocked a new level cap. Maybe when they reach level seventy-five, they might be able to cultivate disciples who, like our little gardener, have inherited part of the Devouring God’s power and can live normally?"

General Yin was clear about the crux of the problem. Yelena from the Sustainable Sanctuary became a relatively perfect experiment in the expedition plan; her Mind Energy Master level had reached thirty-five without further damaging her body.

But this was all due to Zhao Mingwei. Zhao also tried to cultivate a second disciple, but the result was the same as most players, with the disciple experiencing an outburst from the power seed within.

That is to say, Yelena at level thirty-five is already the limit for Zhao Mingwei’s power inheritance. The limit for other players training disciples could be less than ten levels.

And this was only achieved after Zhao Mingwei reached level seventy-five.

Now, General Yin could only hope for new miracles with the raised level cap.

"How long?"

Rosh knew that the Spiritual Bodies measure their strength with something called a level, and now with a new level cap, it should relate to the aid plan from her mentor’s Order Sanctuary, Alma.

"Half a year?"

No matter how you slice it, for General Yin to level from seventy to seventy-five would take a year and a half, but just looking at the experience bar, for professional players half a year should be enough.

This undoubtedly infuriated Rosh, who then wanted to storm out of there with Yelena by force.

"You’re forcing me to make a move after all..." In an instant, General Yin applied a throwing enhancement on himself and prepared a net in his hand to capture Rosh.

But before General Yin could throw his item, Rosh teleported in front of him and pressed him to the ground with one hand.

Rosh’s knee pressed against General Yin’s chest, making it impossible for him to stand up. One hand held her own sidearm pointed at General Yin, while the other aimed at other players from the Leap Core base.

The rest of the players didn’t even realize their boss had been kidnapped; instead, some curious ones poked their heads around to take a look.

"Boss... what kind of PLAY are you and big sis Rosh up to?"

"Don’t mind... don’t mind..." General Yin awkwardly responded to the surrounding members of the Leap Core guild.

"General Yin, I might have disturbed you guys playing some strange PLAY. Just now I wanted to join Guild Leader Mo Shigui’s instance, but I found out they all disconnected. I checked the game cabins and they were still running. Is something wrong?"

Little Feather shouted from a distance to General Yin.

"Disconnected?"

General Yin struggled to open his friend list, and sure enough, not only Mo Shigui, but all the players who went with Zhao Mingwei to grind for XP were offline.

But it must be a BUG... They should still be in the game of the Spiritual Bodies.

"This Void Swarm possesses abilities far beyond your imagination, Spiritual Bodies... If you rely on your immortality, they have numerous ways to destroy you, in this world and in your original one."

Realizing that the members of Leap Core didn’t care about General Yin’s wellbeing, Rosh turned back to try to persuade General Yin.

"Is that expedition system you mentioned... really safe?" General Yin was still reluctant to use Yelena as a guinea pig, especially with Zhao Mingwei not around.

"I can’t guarantee it’s safe, just as you can’t guarantee the members of your guild are still safe right now," said Rosh.
