Chapter 74: Chapter - 74 A Simple Concern

Bennhayzin’s Point Of View

’Haaah.... Maybelline, just what the heck have you done...’

I had met Tristan back when he was just starting to walk. He was adorable, with his big bright hazel green eyes. But now? Tristan all grown up was a sexual force of nature. My erection still wouldn’t go down, and I could still smell him all over me.

Maybelline’s genetic splicing was out of this world. Just reading about it and seeing it, we’re two different things. I wasn’t sure if Ferdinand was really going to bring Tristan to the summons, I wasn’t even sure he could, but I needed him to go. I forced his hand, but there would be no remorse from me.

Sylvester and Ferdinand should brag their hearts out. That’s one hell of a mate to stumble across. He didn’t even seem particularly aware of his beauty. No doubt from having a mother like Seraphine. She had been beautiful beyond words, almost eerily so. She could have potentially been an heiress or something.

I climbed back into my all black land hopper and closed the door. I let out a deep sigh and inserted the key. As I was heading towards the main road my phone began to ring.

"What is it Leopold?" I sighed.

He was my right hand man, but he worried and stressed me out over the smallest of problems.

"Well sir... where are you...?" He asked timidly.

"On my way home. Why?" I asked.

I was cruising through downtown Sayenrio taking in the sights. There were protesters marching in the street, but it paled in comparison to the protesters in Delgaide.

"Ah... uhm... you see... Danhiel called your office. I told him you stepped out and that I wasn’t sure when you would return... but he advised he would be here in 4 hours..." Leopold said with a sigh.

"It’s fine. I don’t think I could get back there in 3 hours even if I floored it. So until I get there stall him for as long as possible. Got it?" I replied.

"Understood sir. I’ll give him the royal treatment." He said with a chuckle.

Leopold didn’t like Danhiel anymore than I did. He was like a greedy spoiled child who didn’t know his place. He had been barging into my office at least once a week now, demanding that I take action and fix my mistake. We seemed to have a difference in opinion on what my mistake was.

I’d say my mistake was being a welcoming and hospitable host, while he flew off the rails ranting that it was my lackadaisical attitude. It would appear we would just need to agree to disagree.

I rolled down my windows and went off roads, it would be preferable to get Tristan’s scent off of me beforehand but I knew from Maybelline’s notes that that would be close to impossible. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t regret not taking him and Seraphine in when I could, but he seemed happy where he was now.

And to my knowledge his siblings were still with him, so I couldn’t help thinking it was better this way. I didn’t have the energy to keep up with him anyway and I sure as shit couldn’t share him. I had the highest respect for Ferdinand, because he was able to. Not only that but he seemed happier as well.

’Haaah... things are going to get crazy at the summon...’

Sable’s Point Of View

"Raihne... You’re getting slower. I told you to stop trying to keep up with me, and go lay down..." I sighed.

"And I told you, to stop worrying so much. I’ll be fine." He said leaning against his crutches.

He was being stubborn again. He was clearly sweating, just trying to stay close by in case I needed something. It was as if he didn’t want to be seen as useless. Which was absurd, because he was only injured in the first place because of us.

I felt horrible, everytime I looked at the twins. They were in so much pain just because we wanted to go outside. It made me never want to go outside ever again. It wasn’t worth it.

"You’re thinking too much again..." Raihne sighed while poking my cheek.

"You were hurt because of me... it feels awful..." I said pouting.

"Oh? Did you hit me with that van? If I recall correctly it was some asshole in a suit..." He chuckled.

"You know what I mean. You wouldn’t have gotten hit if we weren’t with you. I feel terrible... you keep pushing yourself too hard..." I groaned.

"I’m not dead. My leg doesn’t even hurt anymore. And I’d jump into oncoming traffic to save you. Your life means more to me. This will always be so. So stop pouting, and paint me a picture already." He said kissing my head.

I could never win with him. He was always being reckless for my sake. I could never understand him, or his brother for that matter. They were willing to put their lives on the line for us and they barely knew us.

Payhne was going to extreme lengths to make Arrisa happy. Yesterday he even let her treat him like an infant for the entire day. Arrisa was loving every bit of it.

"C’mon Sable draw a picture for me. I want an animal. I want one just like the ones you made for Sylvester and Ferdinand." He said, sounding jealous.

"Hmph... if you insist..." I smirked.

I began to outline the animal of my choosing, making slow methodical lines. After about 10 minutes of drawing I heard Raihne grunt. I turned to look at him and witnessed the most adorable pout.

"You seem unhappy Raihnie-Bear..." I smirked.

"You did that on purpose didn’t you?" He said, looking wounded.

"Ahahaha! I’m sure I don’t know what you mean." I said laughing evilly.

He was probably in his feelings because I had drawn a big black and gray dog with blue eyes. It was large enough to be classified as a werewolf, but a dog was a dog after all.

"C’mon Sable. Make me another animal. This one feels, wrong..." He said pouting again.

"I think it matches your loyalty and intelligence perfectly. I don’t see anything wrong with it." I chuckled.

"There are other loyal and intelligent animals out there that you could have drawn..." He groaned.

"Well I don’t get out much to know all the different kinds of animals. Just what I’ve seen on TV... it’s cute, just like your pouty face." I replied.

–Hello...? This is Doctor Khalil. I was wondering if you all would be able to participate in a blood test right now. The guys signed off on it already. We have also drawn their blood as well.

Came a voice from the intercom. Rohan and Jasper stood up and opened the door, while Kaleb picked Kaihsie up off the floor. Once the door was opened the doctors walked in with all their gear and froze at the sight of the room.

"HA! Ferdinand is such a sucker! I just can’t even right now. Look at this paradise!" One of the doctors exclaimed.

"Yeah he’s fearsome for no reason! Because this room just screams please love me." The doctor with green hair chuckled.

"Don’t be mean to Uncle Ferdi, he really loves us!" Arrisa scolded them.

They immediately stopped laughing and apologized. It was always funny seeing the adults fold under pressure when Arrisa was doing the scolding. I couldn’t help but laugh out loud. The doctors settled in at a table and began to get set up.

"What is it that you need our blood for?" Delcain asked.

"Well for starters I want to confirm the babies 2nd gender. I also want to make sure you guys aren’t lacking in your iron, vitamins, and blood sugar levels. Lastly, I’m just really curious about your genome and I would like to see it for myself." She replied.

"Well this is Arrisa, Sable, Kaleb, Kaihsie, Tahlia, and I’m Delcain."

"Hey guys, I’m Khalil, this is Maddeson, that’s Doctor Khali, Dr. Grahnt, and Dr. Anthonee." She said.

She seemed nice and friendly, but she made me uneasy, because she had the same look in her eyes that Auntie Maybelline used to get when she was excited.

We each sat with one of the doctors one at a time and they drew two vials of blood from each of us. Delcain was suspicious the whole time, and watched them like a hawk. When they were finished, they packed up and filed out. Except for Dr. Khali.

"Hey, knuckle headed twins. Let me check your wounds and re-wrap you Payhne." She said.

"Thanks Doctor. They won’t listen to us about taking it easy..." I sighed.

"Yea... stubborn men can never admit when they need help. Their boss must be rubbing off in them..." She chided.

The twins both pouted while she began scolding them. Once she was finished she gave her final verdict as she slathered some antibacterial ointment on Payhne.

"Well Raihne I think that cast can come off in two weeks. We can put you in a soft cast as long as you keep your ass off of it. Payhne, you can take these wraps off by Friday. Your cuts have healed up very well."

She pet each of their heads and headed for the door. As she walked out she hit them with one final warning.

"Bit of advice boys, girls don’t like having to constantly worry about their guys. If they say sit and rest, what they mean is you’re stressing them out." She said with a wink before leaving.

The twins looked somber and defeated, but I was happy. Someone had finally said what I was trying to say all along.

"Well then C’mon Raihne, I think I can make you into a mopey bear next." I teased, as I walked to my easel.
