Chapter 217: Chapter – 196 – A Welcomed Surprise

Jasper’s Point Of View

"Hey Jasper! Is the Boss up yet?" Rohlander asked, as he ran up to meet me on the stairs.

I was just coming down to the ground floor after my morning sweep, and I couldn’t help but notice the anxious panic in his eyes. His unusual countenance immediately put me on edge.

"No. He’s still in his room. Why? What’s going on?" I asked, preparing myself for the worst.

"Well... The thing is... There are 5 vans at the gate requesting entry. They say they’re here on Mafia King Sîvret’s orders... They’re armed to the teeth..." Rohlander said, as he tried to catch his breath.

I however, was stunned silent at his response. We weren’t expecting any reinforcements, and nobody had told us any different in the last few days, either.

On top of that...

"Normally this wouldn’t be a problem... But we can’t be sure who’s friend or foe when it comes to extra security... So we don’t know what to do... It’s not like any of us can contact Sîvret to confirm it, and who the hell could trust the outsiders to confirm it for us, y’know?" Rohlander said, pretty much mirroring my own apprehensions.

"Right. Well, keep them stalled for time. Try to get as much information from them as you can. I’ll go and wake up the Boss..." I said, with a heavy sigh.

’I definitely don’t want to disturb the Boss... But hopefully, since this is an emergency of sorts... He won’t kill me? Probably?’

Rohlander nodded in agreement, and then headed back outside. I, on the other hand, made my way back upstairs to the third floor. I arrived at Ferdinand’s door in no time at all, lost in my own stressful pondering. I took a deep breath, and raised my hand to knock on his door.

Before I could even get a single knock in, the door opened slowly to reveal an exhausted Sylvester. The unexpected Alpha, and the sudden opening of the door, made me jump back in a startled panic.

"Hmm? Jasper? What do you need? Why so jumpy?" Sylvester asked, scratching his head.

"I... Uhm... Well, Sir. We need help with an unexpected predicament. There are men here requesting entry, and they are armed to the teeth. They say that they are here on Sîv–"

"No way. There’s no way we can confirm their authenticity. Send them packing." Sylvester grumbled, cutting me off.

"Sir... They said that Mafia King Sîvret sent them..." I replied, nervously.

At that, Sylvester glanced up at me with a start. The Mafia King had an aura that practically demanded attention, even in his half-dazed mien. Even though we were basically one big faction now, he was never to be taken lightly. Due to his threatening aura, I hadn’t taken a single step forward during our entire exchange.

"Wait... Sîvret sent us extra men?" Sylvester asked, slowly coming out of his stupor.

"That’s what they said, but we have no way to confirm the validity of their claims..." I replied.

"Hold on. Stay right there." He said, shutting the door once again.

I did as he said and planted my feet firmly to the ground. It was much too early in the morning to start pissing off a King.

’With any luck, he’ll contact Mafia King Sîvret for us, and get down to the bottom of this fiasco...’

<Jasper, come in... This is Rohlander.>

I heard my walkie go off, and immediately snatched it up from my waist.

"Yeah, this is Jasper. What’s going on?" I replied.

<It would appear that Sîvret was very thorough in his preparations. He sent over a list of names and a description of all 50 participants who would be arriving.>

’Well, shit... Looks like we were worried over nothing...’

"Understood. Sylvester is confirming things now as we speak. Once I get the go ahead from him, then we can let them pass." I replied, placing the walkie back on my hip.

A beat later, Ferdinand’s door opened once again, and Sylvester stepped out fully dressed this time.

"Apparently he did send us extra manpower. He emailed me a list of names and detailed descriptions of all the volunteers who should be here, and said that they should have an identical copy. He also said that they were ordered to drive here without stopping, so there would be no chance of interference..." Sylvester said, with a weary sigh.

"Yes. Rohlander has also reported that they had a list of names and descriptions as well..." I nodded in agreement.

"Good. I’m going to check them all personally. Take me to them, at once." Sylvester replied, his face turning icy cold in an instant.

"Yes, Sir." I replied, heading to the stairs without any hesitation.

"While I’m thankful for the extra help, I really wish this could be someone else’s problem right now... I’m tired as hell..." Sylvester grumbled, as we reached the front doors.

I was curious to know why he was handling this matter, instead of Ferdinand, but judging from the fact that Sylvester had come out of Ferdinand’s room I knew that asking any questions about Sylvester’s current fatigue would probably get me killed.

I hopped on a four-wheeler along with Sylvester, and headed for the gate. With any luck, this whole ordeal would be over quickly.

"Who’s in charge of you lot? Step forward, now." Sylvester demanded, as he hopped off the back of our four-wheeler.

A large, intimidating man with hazel eyes, and long locs, stepped forward immediately. I couldn’t help but swallow dryly at his imposing size.

’Jeez... What the hell is Sîvret feeding this guy?’

"My name is Donnahven. It’s nice to meet you." The man said, his voice deep and just as intimidating as his size.

"I’m told you have a list for me?" Sylvester replied, not perturbed in the slightest.

"Yes, Sir. There are 50 of us in total. 20 Alpha men, 5 Alpha women, 20 Beta men, and 5 Beta women. Our names and descriptions are all listed here for your convenience, as well." Donnahven said, handing over the documents.

Sylvester nodded, and then began to read over the paperwork assiduously. I watched as Sylvester read each of their profiles one at a time, and then ask the corresponding individuals distinctively personal questions to further prove their legitimacy.

When he was about halfway through his interrogation, I began to understand exactly why Sylvester had grumbled about having to carry out this task.

’Even though I know we need to be extremely vigilant right now, and that this is a necessary precaution... I really wish we could be done with this, and just let them all in now...’

Just as I was doing a headcount of the remaining individuals who still needed to be verified, I noticed a couple of men looking around nervously. Their shifty eyes, and edgy demeanor made them alarmingly suspicious.

"Boys. Lock the gates, and surround the remaining people who have yet to be approved." Sylvester said, his voice dark and threatening.

Everyone moved as instructed immediately. I took a defensive stance as well, and gripped the gun holstered on my hip.

"What is this about, Mafia King Sylvester?" Donnahven asked, looking around alarmed.

"Shut up." Sylvester replied sternly, as he made his way through the group of people.

No one dared to stand in his way, or ask anymore questions. The air was thick with tension, so thick that you couldn’t even hope to cut it with a knife.

Sylvester came to a stop in front of the two suspicious looking men that I had noticed earlier, and smiled maliciously. The two men began to visibly tremble in blatant fear.

"I have a list of 50 names to be accounted for... And yet, I count 52 members present in total. So, who sent you?" Sylvester asked, his threatening smile not faltering for a moment.

The two men were so stricken with fear, that they could do nothing more than open and close their mouths like a fish on dry land.

Sylvester held his hand out towards Solomon, and he responded by placing a gun in the palm of Sylvester’s hand.

"Let’s try this again, shall we? Keep in mind that I am extremely irritated and unbelievably tired, so I will not ask you a third time. Who. The. Fuck. Sent. You?" Sylvester demanded, placing the gun under the chin of one of the men.

"Sir, please. I can explain! We... Uhm... We were just... Uh..." The man stammered in a panic.

"Wrong answer."

*BLAM!!*

The man fell lifelessly to the ground in an instant. Everyone immediately tensed up in fear. I was no exception.

’Yeah.... Note to self: Never piss off the Bosses!’

"You?" Sylvester asked the remaining man, pressing the gun muzzle to his chest with a painfully audible, Thunk!

"We were sent by the Police Commissioner of StohneGarrdin. Sir, I was only following orders!" The man explained frantically, as he wiped the other man’s blood from his eyes.

"Hmm? You mean the man who was replaced with a spy from the government?" Sylvester asked, with a murderous glare.

The man looked up at Sylvester in complete and utter shock and despair. It was clear that he hadn’t known that the spy’s infiltration was already known.

"Haha! You stupid, cowardly, insignificant, bitches!"

*BLAM!!*

I was certain that Sylvester’s sinister laugh would haunt that man into the afterlife. Because it was certainly going to haunt my damn dreams.

"Your first order of business is to clean this shit up. You will then take orders from Santiago or Rohlander from now on. Do not disappoint me. I don’t give a fuck if you are among Sîvret’s faction or not. If you bring harm or misfortune to any of my family members, you will share the same fate as these idiots before you. Do I make myself clear?" Sylvester said, hopping back onto the four-wheeler without a second glance.

"Sir, Yes, Sir!" Everyone replied in an instant.

Sylvester said nothing else and headed back towards the estate. Meanwhile, I tried to control my breathing and steady my pounding heart.

’Protecting them by any means necessary, is absolute....’
