Chapter 189: Chapter – 168 - I Can’t Go Back
Synnahmen’s Point Of View
Master had been gone for almost three days now. I was dying of boredom, and missed him terribly. I had planned to hang out with Tristan today, however, his Alphas had gotten some free time and had snatched him away from me.
I laid on the bed, and pulled Master’s pillow close to my face. His scent had long since left the pillow, but the knowledge of it being his pillow was comforting to me.
Master and I had planned to move back to his home in Sa’Ryne, after Sable’s 16th Birthday. From what I understood, he was becoming increasingly more busy with his work for Mafia King Sylvester. He used to fly there only twice a month, in the beginning.
Three years in, and he began to go once a week. Him doing his job wasn’t the cause of my current frustration. It was the fact that when he left– the job would always last at least 2 days– sometimes even longer.
I constantly worried that something was wrong, and that Master could get hurt or worse. So ultimately, he had agreed to move back home so that we would at least be able to see each other every night.
As I tried to rid myself of my boredom, I turned on the TV and searched for a good show or movie. I found a channel that had a cute movie playing . I had seen this movie before, when I attended family movie night with Tristan.
It was a warm and peaceful memory for me. I had fallen asleep in Master’s arms, and woke up tangled in his limbs, back in his room. Master seemed to also like family movie night as well.
In the beginning, I had lived with Master and his Master– constantly worrying and despairing about being abandoned by My Master– I didn’t have time to think about anything else.
However, after mating with my Master, my mind began to worry about the future. I didn’t have a good enough understanding about the outside world, at the time. Due to my overwhelming anxiety– I began to throw myself headlong into my studies– after learning how to read from Tristan.
Even though my Master had rescued me, I didn’t actually have an identity outside of the facility. I wasn’t registered as a citizen anywhere, I didn’t have a birth certificate or record to speak of, and I had no I.D. for everyday identification.
This basically meant that I could not exist normally in this world without my Master. The government had cataloged every Omega that had ever been inside of their facilities. There were also rising cases of Omega disappearances and abductions, circling around on the internet lately as well.
It made me never want to go anywhere without my Alpha. Even though I was now 23 years old, I hadn’t exactly grown much taller after all this time. Being barely even 5’6ft. tall, I was basically the perfect snatching height. I didn’t have much help in the weight department, either.
’Ugh... I’d be the perfect opportunity, right?’
A shiver ran down my spine at the thought. I could never go back to the life I had lived before meeting my Master. Now that I’d had a taste of a normal, happy life, I would never mentally recover from being plunged into the darkness again.
I had dozed off a few times while watching the movie, before finally succumbing to it completely.
When I woke up, I noticed that the sun had long since gone down. The room was now dark, and eerily quiet. When I glanced at the TV, I saw that the credits were rolling from a random movie that had been playing.
I stretched languidly and began to climb off the bed, heading for the bathroom. My steps were suddenly halted by the news that had abruptly popped up, after the credits ended.
I slapped a trembling hand over my mouth, to keep my audible screams from escaping. As I watched the banner scroll across the screen– I felt my legs lose all of their strength– and plummeted to the floor.
Apparently, my fears weren’t as nonsensical as I had tried to convince myself. The information about the Privately Owned Omega Facilities didn’t really concern me... The information that shook me to my very core, was about the return of the Government Registered Omegas. I had learned long ago that that was the only Identification that I had, anywhere.
They were trying to flush us out. Any and all Omegas that had been born or lived inside a facility owned by the government, would be hunted down mercilessly by government agents.
To make matters worse, they had basically enlisted the citizens in the entire nation to help in their manhunt as well. My mind began to swirl with turbulent thoughts, and unyielding fears.
’What does this mean for us? For me? What about Tristan and his family?’

Santiago’s Point Of View
Shit was hitting the fan, all around us. I was getting increasingly irritated at the amount of strange happenings going on in Sa’Ryne. I had served my Master Sylvester for over 10 years now, and in that time I had never seen anything like this happen before.
There were new unknown gangs going around and strong-arming the local shops and businesses, demanding that they submit to their rule. Even though the citizens loved Sylvester– and their loyalty to him was undeniable– most of them were smart enough to realize that we couldn’t protect everyone at once.
Sylvester had given his citizens the right to arm and protect themselves, as well as their families, and livelihoods. The citizens readily agreed.
After that, the problems had started to spiral out of control. Due to the citizen’s desperation to defend themselves, they were able to fight off most of the sporadic attacks that occurred.
The opposing gangs didn’t take kindly to this abrupt turn of events, so they had withdrawn from the Duhtchy for about two months.
The citizens began to relax, and let down their guard– confident in their apparent victory.
However...
After about 3 months, we began to get a flood of urgent requests and inquiries about missing Omegas. At first, we hadn’t noticed their disappearance– the abductions had begun with Omegas that had no relatives– who sold their bodies to make ends meet.
But then, the abductions became more aggressive. Young Omega children were being snatched out of yards, and abducted off the streets. These Omegas were mostly underage, which meant that they usually had families to worry about them.
After reading the files and documentation from Delgaide and Lore’rahlye, I had become deeply unsettled. Both facilities had kept meticulous notes about their studies and their "Test Subjects"
, it was despicable. When I had come across Synnahmen’s file, I had been overwhelmed with anger and hatred. They had tortured him in the most obscene ways imaginable. That day, I had made an unshakable vow.
’I’ll never let him suffer that life again. No matter the cost...’
I had been away from my mate for far too long. I had started to get a bit antsy as the helicopter landed in the yard. I just wanted to wrap him in my arms and fall asleep.
I wasted no time making a mad dash to my room. I didn’t have to give Sylvester my report until tomorrow, so I wasn’t going to waste my chance to see Syn’s adorable face.
I eagerly opened my bedroom door, expecting to see Syn laying on my bed. However, in all my searching, I didn’t see him anywhere.
I strode further into my room, shutting the door behind me softly. I looked towards the bathroom– assuming that he was inside– but the door was wide-open, inside was eerily quiet.
I strained my ears, hoping to hear him inside my room. Then, I heard a soft, muffled cry coming from the floor beside my bed.
I rushed over to the sound, afraid that Syn had hurt himself in my absence.
"Syn? Babe? What’s wrong? Tell me what happened..." I asked, my panic rising.
It was like he was in a trance, and couldn’t hear me at all. He was curled up on his side, arms wrapped around his midsection, mumbling to himself, and trembling terribly.
"I-I can’t go back... I-I won’t go... back..."
"Syn! Please talk to me!?" I yelled, immediately flooding him with my pheromones.
He stilled completely, and then slowly opened his eyes. They were unfocused, and searching frantically.
"I’m back, Syn. I’m here now... I’m home." I said softly into his ear.
I picked him up and carried him to the bed, and he held on to me tightly, the entire time. As if I was the only thing grounding him to this world.
As I got comfortable on the bed with Syn in my arms, I glanced up at the flashing TV, curious about what he had been watching. When my eyes settled on the screen, I immediately tensed up.
I now understood why Syn was in his current state. The unsettling news flashing on the screen, made my head spin.
’Everything makes sense now. I have no doubt that a war is headed our way...’
