Chapter 175: Side Story - 15 - D-Day
Delcain’s Point Of View
"Sable! It’s happening! Go tell Dr. Kahli!" I yelled, running past the dining room and towards the kitchen.
"Seriously?! Now?!" She yelled, jumping out of her chair.
"Yes, now! I’m going to go get water buckets. Ari, grab as many towels as you can. Mom, could you help me?" I said.
"Don’t be silly. We will all be helping." Meahlene said, rushing to join me.
We made our way to the kitchen and informed the staff to begin boiling water as fast as possible. They wasted no time in their assist. The entire house had been abuzz for the past month, due to it being so close to Tristan’s due date.
Like many things in our lives, things never went as planned with Tristan. The baby was coming 3 weeks early, and there was no stopping it.
Once the pots began to boil, the servants began pouring them into the assortment of buckets Sylvester had bought. He had asked Khali what all she would need when the time came, and he had splurged unrestrained in his tasks.
"Del, I got the towels. The guys are bringing the rest!" Ari said, towels piled up in her arms.
"Take them to the clinic. I’ll be there shortly." I replied.
We picked up the first few buckets and began our trek to the clinic. When we arrived, the doctors were milling about getting everything set up.
"Del, please slip on those shoe covers and place the buckets along the wall of the surgical room." Nohrah said.
"It’s fine Nohrah. He can hand them to Grahnt and Maddesson, they already have booties on, and I’m sure Del will need to make a few more trips." Khalil said.
"Understood." I replied, handing the bucket off to Grahnt.
"Where is Tristan?" Meahlene asked, handing over her bucket as well.
"Ferdinand called, they are bringing him now. They panicked, unsure if they should move him." Khali chuckled.
"They’re almost here!" Sable said, bursting into the room breathing heavily.
"Once the buckets have been delivered, no men will be allowed beyond this point. Meahlene and Lady Josephine, please assist us where you can." Khalil said.
Sylvester and Ferdinand burst in next, holding Tristan and carrying him to a bed that had been prepared. Once he was placed on it, he looked up at them, fear clouding his eyes.
"It’s all going to be okay. I wouldn’t trust you with anyone else. Trust Dr. Khali, and stay calm. We’ll be right here when it’s over." Ferdinand said, encouragingly.
Tristan nodded, and laid back onto the bed.
"We still need about 4 more buckets. Please hurry." Grahnt said.
I turned around immediately, and headed back to the kitchen. It wasn’t until I grabbed the next bucket, that I realized Sylvester, Ferdinand, and Cole were behind me as well. They grabbed the remaining buckets, each grabbing an extra one, before heading back to the clinic.
Once everything was handed off to the doctors, we all took a seat in the waiting room. As the minutes ticked by, the room slowly filled with all of the estate occupants. Everyone was sitting or standing, in nervous anticipation.
The longer we all congregated in the waiting room, the thicker the tension in the air seemed to get. After an hour and a half, the Alphas were pacing the room. Everyone could tell that they were practically chomping at the bit to rush the operation room doors.
"It’s taking way too long. What if something is wrong?!" Bellamy said, finally cracking under the pressure.
"It’s not taking too long. All pregnancies are different. Our Aunt Maybelline was in labor for 5 hours with Ari. And Tristan is a male Omega. Nothing about this will be a simple task. I’m sure they are being meticulous about everything." I said, feeling like my nerves were going to kill me any minute.
At my explanation, all the Alphas hit the floor, sitting restlessly. I talked a big game and acted calm, but under the surface I was absolutely panicking. I wouldn’t love or hate my new niece or nephew any more or less if something happened to Tristan, but I knew I couldn’t look at them the same without Tristan being around.
’Please Gods... Don’t take my big brother away from me...’
After about 3 hours, the operation room doors opened and Khalil popped her head out. Ferdinand, Sylvester, Bellamy, Cole, Sable, Ari, and I rose to our feet immediately.
"What happened?" I asked.
"Is Tristan okay?" Sylvester asked.
"Yeah. Congratulations, it’s a boy. I can let you all in, if you put on these gowns and masks. But only a few at a time. Tristan is still sleeping, we used a strong amount of anesthesia." She replied.
"I would like to see my nephew, please." I said.
I knew it was selfish, but I honestly wouldn’t be able to rest if I didn’t get to see Tristan or the baby.
"It’s fine, I’ll go after you." Cole said, his face filled with relief.
"You sure?" I asked, feeling guilty.
"Yeah. As long as he’s fine, I don’t mind waiting." He smiled.
"Uhm, it’s fine. The 5 of you can come in together." Khalil said, holding out the masks and gowns.
We hastily put on the masks and gowns, before slowly walking into the room. It was dimly lit, and there were soft coos coming from a corner, and it stole all of the attention in the room.
Ferdinand made his way over to Tristan’s side, while my feet moved towards the newborn, of their own accord.
Khali was doing some final checks on him, before stepping out of the way. When I saw the newborn, I thought my heart was going to explode. He was absolutely adorable, with chunky cheeks, strawberry blonde hair, and hazel eyes.
He was inside an incubator, so I was too afraid to pick him up, but I couldn’t deny the urge that I had to scoop him up into my arms and squeeze his cheeks.
"What will you name him?" I asked no one in particular.
"Haha... Well I can’t be sure if he still wants to, but he said if it’s a boy he wanted to name it Dellamy." Bellamy chuckled.
"Absolutely not!" I scolded.
That would be far too much for me to handle. It was just my name smashed into Bellamy’s name.
"The other name he chose was Chase." Bellamy said, rubbing my back reassuringly.
"It’s not my kid, so I can’t say much. Anything is better than Dellamy..." I sighed.
Everyone laughed softly, but I was serious. It looked like I would just be calling him baby nephew for now.
"It’s creepy. He has Bel’s hair and eyes, but Tristan’s features. We’re so screwed." Cole said with an uneasy chuckle.
He was right though. The kid was downright adorable, and would probably be just as spoiled as Tahlia.
’Welcome to the family, baby nephew...’
