Chapter 139: Chapter - 139 Subtle Changes

Ferdinand’s Point Of View

I was jealous, and it was getting increasingly worse the longer the day dragged on. Synnahmen hadn’t left Tristan’s side since we came home. They toured the house together, scheduled days to swim together, they ate lunch together, and even bathed together.

I was beginning to feel like an NPC in my own game of life, and I knew I wasn’t the only one. Tristan was currently reading in my library with Synnahmen, Ezekihel, and the kids, it was adorable and peaceful. Tristan was teaching Synnahmen and Ezekihel the words, Sable was sketching pictures, and they all seemed to be having fun.

But the 6 Alphas standing in the background were slowly losing their patience. I looked over at Bellamy, who was glaring daggers at Sylvester.

"Seriously, Syl... Do something!" Bellamy whispered harshly.

"Why do I have to be the one to sacrifice myself? I don’t want him mad at me!?" Sylvester asked.

"Where’s Del when we need him?" I sighed.

"He’s sleeping. So is Kaleb for that matter. Kaleb is having terrible nightmares apparently, and Del hasn’t slept in days." Cole sighed.

"Meyhymn, you go over there and break them up. Your mate’s over there too." Sylvester whined.

"Ha! Unpopular opinion, but I like this new development. I thought Tristan would hate Ezekihel forever, but he’s teaching him how to read, and clearly enjoying it. Sorry boys, but I don’t hate it." The big idiot shrugged.

"I knew I should have kicked that Omega out when I had the chance." I grumbled.

"Oh! Tristan?" Arrisa exclaimed, grabbing everyone’s attention.

"What’s up, cuteness?" Tristan asked, looking up at her.

"What are we going to do about Wednesday?" She asked, as if revealing a big secret.

"What’s happening on Wednesday?" Tristan asked, confused.

Arrisa stared at him in shock, while Sable merely shook her head.

"Big brother... Wednesday is October 23rd... it’s Kaleb’s birthday..." Sable sighed.

Meanwhile, Tristan looked as if he were about to faint, and all the Alphas looked like they were at gunpoint.

"Oh My Gods! I completely forgot! Last year we just bought a cake and watched his favorite movies all day. This year however, there are way too many people to do that... What should we do guys?!" Tristan asked, panicking.

"Well you know Kaleb, he’s not one for big parties..." Arrisa sighed.

"But he does love sweets, and just went threw a T-R-A-U-M-A-T-I-C experience... pretty sure he’s going to need this, this year..." Sable said.

"Good job on your spelling, but that’s not helping me form any ideas..." Tristan sighed.

"Well then don’t worry about it. I’ll have Torhrezz do everything. Just tell me his favorite movies and sweets. Leave the rest to the staff. Also, you should all write down one gift you want to give him. I’ll have the staff go and get it, and wrap it." I said.

"Really!?" Tristan asked, positively beaming.

"Really, really. We’ll need the list by tonight. Someone should ask Del for his gift ideas too. Then give the list to either me or Torhrezz. Easy peazy." I shrugged.

"Thank you, Ferdinand!" Tristan said, standing up and walking towards me.

He gave me a tight hug, and reached up for a kiss.

"Your the best! Love you! Even though I know all of you are over here jealously brooding." He smiled with a wink, before heading back over to the kids.

"This damn bond is going to be the death of me..." Bellamy murmured.

And I couldn’t agree more. Most of the time I didn’t really feel affected by the bond, at first. But now, it was like having a second being inside me at all times. I was more perceptive of the other Alphas and their emotions. And they seemed to be more in tuned with each other as well. It also felt like Cole was where our shared emotions pooled, and I was now keenly aware of how they felt while we are all being sexual together with Tristan.

What should have unsettled me –even just a little bit– actually made me ridiculously happy. I didn’t know why, and I made a point not to fight it after kissing Bellamy a second time. I loved them and we all loved Tristan, it just didn’t seem wrong. Nor did it feel wrong to have these thoughts and feelings. They just were, and I accepted it mind, body, and soul.

"Ferdinand, is it true that you are going to have a house built for us?" Sable asked, breaking me out of my thoughts.

"Hm? Yeah. Each of you can design two rooms. Why? Don’t want a new house?" I asked, teasingly.

"That’s not it! Isn’t that a bit much?" She asked, exasperated.

"I don’t think it is. And now that I think about it, we should put and underground bunker, and tunnels to the main house underneath it too." I said with a chuckle.

I was laughing, but I was serious. I had to face a heavy reality after losing the house in Sayenrio. The kids safe room was useless if the house was on fire. Not only that, but the only way out for them, had been through the danger. I wanted them to be as safe as possible, but I also wanted them to grow and have their own space as well.

It wasn’t lost on me how hard the twins had fallen for the girls, and I knew the twins would wait an eternity to be accepted by them, if they needed to. I also knew that there was no way they would leave Tristan’s side, no matter how old they got. So a home on my property was necessary for them to live comfortably.

"I feel like you’re over thinking things a bit too much, Uncle Ferdinand..." Sable sighed.

"And I feel like you guys have lived day to day lives for so long, that you don’t know how to look towards the future at all." I smirked.

"And what’s that supposed to mean?" She asked with a glare.

"When do you come of age again? In 5 or 6 years? I think you should live with that in mind. Live for yourself, and enjoy life a bit more. Having your own place, worry free, isn’t a bad thing, right? You always want to be near your big brothers, right? So this is the next best thing. A normal kid would be just as excited as Arrisa is." I chuckled.

"Well, news flash, Uncle Ferdinand. We are not normal kids. The thought of coming of age, terrifies me. And you guys should get some suppressants for Kaleb as well. His heat will happen at midnight when he comes of age." She replied, rolling her eyes.

Her little outburst knocked all of the wind right out of my sails, and made all the Alphas present tense up.

"W-Wait... his first heat?" I asked, nonplussed.

"Yes, his first. Its sure to be a hellish experience for him, too." She said, her tone dripping with sadness.

"Yeah... my first heat was an absolute nightmare..." Tristan sighed.

"I know what you mean... I tried to end my life that night..." Ezekihel agreed.

"I spent that night chained to a bed... I prayed for death all night..." Synnahmen murmured.

While the Omegas were sympathizing and licking each other’s wounds, the Alphas were in an absolute panic and emotional spiral. Our first ruts were crazy to be sure, but we had them surrounded by family and friends who knew the basics of what to do and what would happen. We were also living a life of freedom when they happened.

We didn’t have an aversion to women or second genders, so we basically fucked our way through it. But the same could not be said for the Omegas living here. Each one had seen the ugly side of humanity, on more than one occasion. And each one had suffered from other Alphas and people of the opposite sex.

It was a rude awakening if ever there were one. No one knew what to say or how to comfort them, because to top it all off, they didn’t have normal heats or normal heat cycles either.

"Haaah... I’ll make him tailor-made suppressants and inhibitors as a birthday present of sorts..." Bellamy said, rubbing his face with his palms.

"All non-mated Alphas will need to sleep in the guest house for a week to give him his space. We’ll have Del and the Beta housekeepers give him his food in his room. Bel can administer the suppressants when needed." Sylvester added.

"We’ll have his party early in the day so he can have time to decompress... I’ll ask him what he personally wants, and run him through the options privately. It’s a scary time, but it doesn’t have to be..." I said.

"Yeah... okay... I’m worried about his nightmares. There is a possibility that they will become worse once he goes into heat..." Tristan said.

"Yeah... it took three months for them to stop last time..." Sable said, sadly.

"We’ll get through this together just like we always do. The difference this time, is we’re not alone anymore. We have a family that understands and can try to help. We won’t have to struggle alone this time..." Tristan said, with a smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes.

’Haaah... everything is changing... and no matter how subtle the change... it is always scary...’
