Chapter 964: 533

Elder Hassan knew this wasn’t a solution, so he made a satellite phone call back to Elder Kaman to explain the situation here.

Elder Kaman immediately said that he would organize a team of 200 people from the tribe in the village to come over and move the items.

He also told Elder Hassan not to rush to look for other cave storehouses for now, and that they would discuss it after his arrival.

"That’s perfect. While you’re moving items, we’ll take a walk nearby and enjoy the scenery," Sean Knight said, laughing.

"Of course, of course. Do you want me to send a guide with you?" Elder Hassan asked.

"No need. Elijah and the others have been around here; having them with us will be enough," Sean replied. "Mainly, I just don’t like staying in one place for too long. In fact, if we weren’t still looking for items, I’d want to head back to the tribe right now."

Elder Hassan smiled understandingly, then said farewell to Sean and his companions, turning to organize the remaining villagers to catalog and transport the items.

Clarence Hughes originally wanted to join Sean and the others, but Elder Hassan asked him to stay.

The reason was simple:

"There’s a share here that’s yours. If you don’t stay, how would you know how much your items are really worth?"

So, Clarence stayed. Not only did he watch over his own share, but he also made sure to calculate the share owed to Sean accurately.

Sean had hired him, and he didn’t want Sean to suffer any losses either.

"Boss, where are we heading?" Elijah asked as they left the valley, "To tell you the truth, the scenery nearby is pretty much the same..."

"Let’s go to that labyrinthine mountain cave you talked about," Sean contemplated before saying, "I’m curious to see just how many caves are actually inside."

Elijah and the others, armed with guns, headed in the northwestern direction.

"We’ve got a hike of over ten kilometers from here, and with our pace, it will take us a bit over an hour..."

All four of them far surpassed the average person in physical fitness, but they were not machines and couldn’t instantaneously arrive.

Arriving near the mountain cave, Sean realized that, long ago, there were signs that people had lived here.

"This place used to be a small tribe’s home. Of course, that was centuries ago," Elijah explained as they walked inside, "Even so, residents of this tribe would often get lost or disappear in these caves.

Later, the small tribe was absorbed into a larger one nearby and this place was abandoned.

Due to the lack of water and resources, nobody comes here. Sometimes merchants or lone thieves would pass through, but only briefly."

Although Elijah hadn’t been there long, he was well-informed about these details.

The top of the mountain cave was a relatively flat highland, and the caves appeared irregularly below, varying in size, some directly on the cave walls, and some underneath certain stones.

"There’s a big cave over there, frequented by people," Elijah pointed at a cave entrance about three meters high at the mountain foot, "You can see signs of habitation inside."

Turning on Sky Eye, Sean scanned all the caves, large and small, and then nodded, heading towards the largest one.

Stepping into the cave, they were greeted by a cool sensation. Although there was no breeze, the coolness instantly dispelled the heat from their bodies.

"This place would be quite good for escaping the summer heat," Sean said with a laugh. "There must be a water source inside, right? I feel there’s a slight dampness mixed in with the cool air."

"I’m not sure. When we first came here, we walked quite far inside and didn’t find any water," Elijah replied.

Sean didn’t say anything further and continued walking deeper into the cave.

Indeed, it didn’t take long to find a forked road.

"We’ve explored both sides before. One way goes very deep, splitting into many caves," Elijah said, flashlight in hand. "This right side here, after about thirty or forty meters, connects with another cave whose entrance is halfway up the hill."

Sean nodded and walked into the seemingly bottomless cave.

Inspecting with Sky Eye, he was surprised to find that this cave was actually a Lapis Lazuli Mine.

Embedded in the cave walls were quite a few rough lapis lazuli stones of seemingly good quality.

Could this have been a lapis lazuli mine in the past, which is why it had been dug so deep?

After all, lapis lazuli has been considered valuable like gemstones since ancient times, especially sought after by Buddhists.

However, Sean had no intention of mining these ores. The profit wasn’t high enough to justify the time and effort, so he decided not to bother.

They didn’t walk much farther when Sean suddenly exclaimed, "Huh," turning his head to Elijah:

"Did you guys add any markings to the turnings and entrances here?"

"Yes," said Elijah, pointing to a scratch at a nearby fork. "Look, every fork we’ve passed is marked like this."

But through Sky Eye, Sean could see that there were additional hidden marks made with invisible ink at these forks.

These were not visible to the naked eye and required special instruments to detect, similar to a fluorescent agent.

Could it be...

Sean had a bold hunch.

He followed the arrowheads further down.

"Boss, we took the left side up ahead..." Elijah noticed Sean heading the other way at the fork and quickly cautioned, "We’ve not been that way before..."

"Let’s just see where it leads," Sean said with a smile, continuing forward.

Elijah sighed, hastily scratched the cave wall, then followed suit.

Lincoln Harrington and Douglas Cooper hadn’t given it much thought; wherever the boss went, they would follow.

After several turns and passing several forks, even Elijah began to feel disoriented.

He couldn’t help saying to Sean:

"Boss, if we keep going like this, we’re going to get lost!"

Even with markers, it was easy to get mixed up after passing so many identical-looking forks and entrances.

He didn’t know how Sean was distinguishing the way.

While pondering, Sean suddenly stopped.

He pointed at an entrance ahead and said:

"I bet there’s something valuable hidden inside there!"

"Really?"

"If the boss says so, it must be true!" Douglas didn’t miss the chance to flatter.

"Alright, let’s go in and find out," Sean said as he took the lead inside.

Sure enough, there was a stone chamber ahead with several small boxes inside.

There were indeed items to be found!
