Chapter 914: 516

In the past two days, Sean Knight and Lincoln Harrington hadn’t been completely inactive.

The injured person from that night had slowly crawled back to the monitoring spot after the daytime.

Afterward, that group of people evacuated.

The other surveillance point that was once watched by three and where Sean Knight had killed someone was now reduced to two people, who hurriedly switched locations that very night and never showed themselves again.

The solo lookout had also locked himself within his spot and never came out.

It was for this reason that Sean Knight felt confident enough to boldly enter.

Those people had been frightened off.

Upon arriving at the museum’s entrance, he didn’t go in, but instead, he set up a booby trap at the doorway.

It wasn’t particularly hidden.

If someone came during the daytime, or if they came wearing a night vision device and were careful, they could spot it.

Then he placed some more explosives inside the museum before taking his leave.

There was no longer any need to stay here. The act had been played out to satisfaction, and what remained was to reap the results.

When he returned to their residence, he found Lincoln Harrington once again perched on the rooftop with a sniper rifle. Sean Knight gestured to him and then returned home.

"Tomorrow we leave the city."

Lincoln Harrington knew that this signified the end of their matter.

The second day, the two men left the house bright and early.

Their backpacks were much lighter because they were leaving, and many unnecessary items had been discarded.

Carrying only simple essential gear, the two threaded their way through the back alleys towards the road leading out of the city.

In the beginning, Lincoln Harrington was somewhat puzzled, for he hadn’t hesitated to suggest to Sean Knight, "Getting a car would be much faster."

However, Sean Knight hadn’t agreed. He preferred this most primitive method of leaving the city, expending more energy and time.

But when they were less than one kilometer from the city suburb, an altercation between a patrol car and a passing vehicle escalated to gunfire, making Lincoln Harrington realize Sean Knight’s decision had been the right one.

A car would have been too conspicuous of a target!

The two of them were just backpackers wearing hoods, blending inconspicuously into the crowd rushing out of the city.

The city had no surrounding wall, so there were too many routes for leaving the city, which the police couldn’t possibly all block off.

Sean Knight had Sky Eye, his ace in the hole, which allowed them to easily identify potential dangers in advance, and he navigated Lincoln Harrington through left and right turns out of the city.

"Let’s go check if that bastard is still around," Sean Knight said with some relaxation. They were now in the suburb, where houses were few and it was much quieter compared to the city interior.

Occasionally a dog would follow them, but one glance from Sean Knight and Lincoln Harrington would send it running scared.

"Do you think we really exude a killing aura?" Sean Knight joked with a laugh.

"Perhaps we do!" Lincoln Harrington pondered seriously, then nodded and said, "If it had chased us again, who knows, we might have killed it. Those creatures are very sensitive."

Since they were out of the city and relatively safe, the two grew much more relaxed, chatting as they headed towards Peter Smith’s parking spot.

By the time they reached the parking spot, they found the car was still there, but Peter Smith was not.

He hadn’t just disappeared; Peter Smith was dead.

He lay less than twenty meters from the car, face down on the grassland, shot in the back, his blood pooling around him.

The car had been torched, leaving only the frames.

The sight left Sean Knight and Lincoln Harrington somewhat speechless.

Sean Knight took out his mobile phone and dialed Lester Francis.

"Mr. Knight, how can I assist you?" Lester Francis’s voice was as poised and refined as ever.

"I have some unfortunate news. Peter... is dead."

"How did he die?" Lester Francis seemed puzzled, "I had just given him a thorough scolding after you and I spoke the other day. I told him to wait for you guys at the usual spot..."

"It’s at the usual spot. The car has been burned, and he was shot in the back." Sean Knight described the scene, "It looks like it happened two or three days ago. We can’t be sure who killed him."

"That’s a sad affair," mused Lester Francis slowly. "Burn him... Are you planning to leave there?"

"Yes, the job is almost done. In a week, those items will appear somewhere in China. We’re about to leave the country and then head to China to take delivery of the items.

I’ll send you a video to look over the situation then. Or you can go there yourself."

"That would be wonderful!" Lester Francis was delighted, knowing the job had been a success, "I’ll send someone when the time comes, or perhaps I’ll come myself, to deliver the remaining cultural relics to you."

Lester Francis was indeed considerate!

Sean Knight was satisfied too.

After hanging up the phone, Sean Knight saw Lincoln Harrington had already placed some wood around Peter Smith’s corpse.

"Burn it," said Sean Knight indifferently. There was no reason to stay. The corpse was already decomposing.

After setting the body ablaze, the two could only continue on foot.

Along the way, they found abandoned cars, but upon inspection, they realized that either the cars were out of fuel or they had been damaged.

So finding a suitable vehicle proved to be difficult.

Sean Knight even wondered whether to walk further and fetch a car himself?

In his spatial realm, there was a car already filled with fuel.

But releasing that domestically-produced vehicle now seemed inappropriate.

While he was thinking this, Lincoln Harrington suddenly whispered,

"Boss, that car ahead... looks suspicious!"

Startled by Lincoln Harrington’s comment, Sean Knight followed his pointing finger.

Huh?

That was a truck!

Why did it look so familiar?

He suddenly remembered—wasn’t that one of the two trucks involved in the city firefight?

Sean Knight and Lincoln Harrington instantly became alert, took their guns, and carefully approached.

Around the truck were several corpses, clearly victims of the gunfight.

The back door of the truck was half open. Sean Knight’s Sky Eye was engaged, revealing that no one was inside.

There were no living people in the vicinity either.

The items left inside the truck, however, seemed like an unexpected windfall to Sean Knight!

There were four or five metal boxes in the carriage compartment; all but one were open and empty. The remaining one contained scattered paper money.

Euros!

It looked like the police were right—these people had robbed a bank!
