Chapter 901: Chapter 512: This matter is doable!_2
The bodyguard behind him clapped his hands, and immediately a waiter came over, serving delicious food one dish after another.
Sean Knight didn’t stand on ceremony, since the host was warm and welcoming, he gladly accepted.
"Mr. Knight, this is the reward I have prepared for you," Lester Francis said elegantly, wiping his mouth with a napkin halfway through the meal.
The bodyguard presented an album to Sean Knight.
Despite being mentally prepared, the items in the album still surprised James Ross.
The first two pages of the album contained about a dozen items, ranging from an Emperor’s personal sword from the Imperial Family of Qing Dynasty to a Prince’s jade ring.
Each piece was exquisitely crafted, any one of which could be a heritage item for a middle-class family to pass down through the generations.
The album had a total of eight pages, the six remaining pages displayed some bronze ware and jade ware. The bronze ware had relatively severe corrosion, and the jade quality was not particularly good, looking like very ancient items.
If the items on the first two pages alone had already satisfied Sean Knight, enough for him to decide to go through with the deal, then the clearly less treasured items on the following pages made him grow solemn.
Lester Francis seemed to notice the change in Sean Knight’s expression and tapped on the table gently, explaining:
"I think intermediary Robert has told you that the reward I’m offering includes these fourteen items, originally acquired by my ancestors from some military officers who had invaded your country at that time.
The goods labeled on these next few pages are items that I’ve bought and collected over the years.
Though their condition isn’t great and their value not high, I believe they can serve a greater purpose with you. So I’m giving them to you as a reward for this trip.
How about that?"
"I truly appreciate your generous offer," Sean Knight said earnestly,
"I think you are indeed very sincere, so let’s discuss the details of our collaboration next."
"Of course." Lester Francis hadn’t expected James Ross to agree so readily; he was naturally happy and said:
"If there are no problems, after we find a suitable intermediary to guarantee this, I will prepare an appropriate identity for you to enter that area.
The main task for you is, once there, to locate the position I’ve sent you for storing the cultural relics, to count how many are left, and to use your power to transfer as many items as possible here, preserving them intact.
When necessary, either I or someone I designate will find you to bring those items back."
"No problem," Sean Knight agreed succinctly, so much so that Lincoln Harrington behind him was somewhat surprised.
After all, the place was sensitive. Lincoln Harrington was well aware, and he knew that Sean Knight was also very aware, that things were quite chaotic there.
It wasn’t just a matter of taking the items out; whether one could safely return after going there was an unknown.
However, since Sean Knight had already made a decision, Lincoln Harrington would certainly not voice any objections.
What he needed to do was to fully support James Ross’s decision.
"Now that we’ve reached an agreement on this matter, the next step is the last issue. We need a suitable guarantor," Lester Francis said frankly, raising a concern that was important to both sides.
"Do you have a candidate in mind?" Sean Knight asked.
Lester Francis thought for a moment and then shook his head slightly, saying, "Most of the people I know aren’t familiar with you. Do you have any suggestions?"
Sean Knight thought of a member of the Swedish Royal Family, Cheryl Suweton’s brother.
Sean Knight put forward his candidate.
"Prince Delton of Sweden, how about him?"
"That would be excellent!" Lester Francis hadn’t expected Sean Knight to know members of the Swedish Royal Family; he was truly surprised. He felt the need to adjust his evaluation of Sean Knight:
"Are you sure you can secure his help?"
"I’ll give you an answer in two hours," Sean Knight said.
"Fine, since you’re so confident, I’ll get the items ready. Once that Prince appears, we’ll finalize this matter," Lester Francis was also very straightforward:
"Believing you can bring that Prince shows your sincerity."
Sean Knight thought to himself, what truly moved you wasn’t my sincerity, but the endorsement from that Swedish Prince.
What followed was a session of casual conversation and eating.
Lester Francis knew a lot about Chinese culture; even though he spoke in English, he conversed fluently about many historical Chinese anecdotes.
The host and guest chatted happily.
After the meal, Sean Knight and Lincoln Harrington went to the hotel arranged by Lester Francis.
Once in the room, Sean Knight made a phone call to Cheryl Suweton.
Although he had spoken with conviction to Lester Francis, in reality, Sean Knight was not certain, he could not be sure whether he would be able to secure the help of the Swedish Prince.
So he needed Cheryl Suweton to speak or, at least, to hear her opinion first.
"Dear, have you arrived in Minsk yet?" Cheryl Suweton was pleasantly surprised to get a call from James Ross.
"I’ve just arrived, and the negotiations have gone quite smoothly so far, but there’s a step in the process for which I need your opinion," Sean Knight said directly.
He told Cheryl Suweton about the matter, not asking her to persuade Delton but seeking her perspective on whether having Delton as the guarantor would affect the reputation of the Swedish Royal Family.
