Chapter 860: Chapter 498: It Turns Out That The Person Hit Was One of Our Own...!_2
Cheryl had not yet spoken when Haruda Chika, hearing Sean Knight’s voice, immediately asked with surprise:
"Mr. Knight, is that true? Can you really confirm this is the place I am looking for? That’s wonderful... My great grandfather..."
Sean glanced at her, then at the Old Monk who had been hastily buried, thinking to himself that this Old Monk might well be related to your great grandfather!
However, he didn’t make this point too clear, because after all, some things are better known without being explicitly stated.
The goal of Haruda Chika was probably not merely finding her great grandfather, but rather the treasure that he had buried.
Everyone tacitly understood this.
"We should find a place to rest and regroup here first," Sean said, "Miss Haruda’s injury needs recovery. We don’t know if there are any other enemies in this temple, so we must be cautious. You guys stay here; we’ll go search the area to clear any potential dangers..."
"I’m fine!" Haruda Chika, already bandaged, said loudly, "Thanks to Mr. Harrington for dressing my wound, I feel great... so please, let me join you, I can’t wait..."
Sean looked at her and asked:
"Are you sure you can? Tetanus is no joke..."
"I really can," Haruda Chika said biting her teeth, "Of course, it would be better if there were medicine..."
Ultimately, as her employer, Cheryl looked at Sean with a plea in her eyes.
"Alright, we should have first-aid anti-inflammatory drugs in our backpacks," Sean nodded, "After you take the medicine, we’ll set off."
After the two groups converged, they did not split up but instead proceeded together along another road into the temple.
The temple was vast and in ruins. Some of the main halls had been cleaned, but only inside the halls themselves, and the square outside was basically unattended, except for the paths that showed people had been there before.
"These Buddha statues—they’re all made of phoebe zhennan wood!" Haruda Chika, who knew her stuff, couldn’t help but exclaim as she looked at the towering Buddha statues.
"Carry them back?" Gru asked a rather silly question, not knowing what phoebe zhennan was, but from Chika’s expression, he understood that these statues were not ordinary.
"Can’t move them. Each one must weigh tons, how could we move it?" Elijah shook his head.
Chika Haruda eyed the statues and then looked at the incense burner in front of them.
Copper, with verdigris, but not very noticeable.
She couldn’t move it either.
Elijah and the others pretended not to see, carefully searching the main hall. Having found no other dangers, they proceeded to the back under Sean’s direction.
Despite Chika’s reluctance, she knew that unless there was large transport equipment, otherwise these items were immovable.
Next was a long corridor. With almost no signs of foot traffic, Sean immediately became vigilant.
"Stop!"
He suddenly shouted, and Elijah and Douglas immediately halted.
"There should be traps ahead," Sean pointed out, "It’s best to probe first. The lack of footprints here isn’t normal."
His words were now basically authoritative, and no one argued.
Douglas took out the bayonet they had confiscated and began to probe slowly ahead.
After seven or eight steps, when his bayonet pierced the ground, he suddenly felt a void in his hand, the ground flipped open, revealing a flipping board and exposing a dark hole underneath.
"There’s indeed a trap!" Chika Haruda was somewhat dumbfounded as she looked at Sean.
No wonder Cheryl had brought him for this treasure hunting adventure.
If they didn’t have him, they didn’t know how many would have been lost in order to push through!
With the presence of this trap, everyone else became more cautious.
Fortunately, the flipping board mechanism wasn’t very wide, about a meter or so, and everyone present, except for Chika, could cross it easily.
Continuing on, the bayonet in Douglas’s hand was constantly at work. After discovering another flipping board, the corridor came to an end and another courtyard appeared.
This courtyard didn’t have a main hall but a row of single-story houses. From the traces around the houses, it appeared they were often inhabited.
There were two doors in the courtyard leading to other places, and it was evident that these two doors were frequently used.
Elijah gestured, and Douglas and Lincoln flanked left and right, moving towards the single-story houses.
There were five rooms in the single-story house, two with open doors, one with a door ajar, and the other two with doors firmly shut.
Searching one by one, Elijah soon came to report:
"Boss, this seems to be the living quarters of the monks, all the daily necessities are here. Judging by the bedding, it seems there are seventeen people."
"Apart from that Old Monk, how many have we taken down?" Sean asked.
"Fifteen," Elijah replied, "That leaves two."
"Then search carefully and be vigilant!"
"Boss, this is an armory," Lincoln called out after opening a door that was tightly closed, then came over to report, "Inside are weapons from Japan during World War II..."
He said this, glancing at Haruda Chika.
Clearly, Lincoln didn’t trust this woman.
"Let’s see," Sean walked over.
The room was lined with Type 38 rifles, two grenade launchers, several boxes of bullets piled up together, and a few landmines.
However, there were no grenades for the launchers; it was unknown whether they were unused or for some other reason.
"These guns seem to be well-maintained," Lincoln picked up a rifle and pulled the gun machine, "These people... they’re no good!"
