Chapter 858: Chapter 497: However, They Are Just Evil Spirits and Monsters! _3
However, the one on the right, past the pitfall, was a row of warehouses. From what Sean Knight could currently see with his Sky Eye ability, at least two of the warehouses were stacked with weapons.
Weapons from the World War II period.
One contained standard issue weapons from Japan at that time: Type 38 rifles, hand grenades, Type 60 grenade launchers, and so on, including the crooked handle machine guns.
The other contained miscellaneous weapons: British, American, as well as some fakes.
Sean immediately walked over, jumped over the pitfall, and entered the warehouse.
He did not intend to leave these items behind and collected all of them into his spatial realm, then he saw the third warehouse.
There were only three warehouses here, but the contents of the third warehouse made Sean feel the trip was worthwhile!
Inside the warehouse, there were eleven golden Buddha statues of various sizes!
The largest was forty centimeters tall, and the smallest was the size of a palm!
Each of these golden Buddha statues had its own characteristics and seemed to be at least three hundred years old!
In addition to the gold, there was quite a bit of jewelry as well, with three boxes opened alone, and both polished and unpolished gemstone rough in another three boxes.
The gemstones produced in the South Asian subcontinent are very famous, and this is recognized worldwide.
Sean had plenty of such items in his spatial realm, but he didn’t mind having more.
There were also several boxes of money, with old British pounds, US dollars, and Japanese military notes.
Sean simply took them all—leaving several boxes of military notes here seemed a bit inappropriate.
Although they felt too hard to use for wiping one’s backside later, they would still be useful somehow.
After taking the items, Sean returned to the corridor. By now, the old monk who had previously been lying in ambush above had already disappeared.
Sean climbed up the ladder and found that he was behind a main hall, located inside a straw shed. The shed looked like something a vegetable gardener would live in.
After crawling out, he saw traces of the old monk heading towards the main hall and immediately followed.
However, the old monk did not stay in the main hall, but Sean saw that the Buddha statues there were also carved from phoebe zhennan. With no one around, he decided to take them as well.
During this chase, Sean realized that the old monk was actually running towards the entrance they had come in from!
He vaguely felt a sense of unease and immediately quickened his pace!
Just then, the sound of gunfire came from afar. After thinking for a moment, Sean turned back.
Listening to the gunfire, he quickly found the monks exchanging fire with Elijah and his group.
By then, Elijah and his comrades had already breached within fifty meters of the monks.
From Sean’s perspective, the original dozen monks were now down to only three who were still holding out.
Their positions were tricky and they had a good shooting angle; one was precisely behind a stone tower, using a small gap at the top of the tower to shoot, making it hard for Elijah and his group to counterattack.
"Bang bang bang bang!"
Sean fired several short burst fires, killing the monks before they could react. Elijah and his group immediately rushed over.
"Let’s go, the old monk is at the entrance. We need to speed up!" Sean said briefly, turning his head and walking away.
"Why? Afraid he’ll get away?" Douglas followed and asked.
"No, it’s not very likely that he’ll run away. I’m worried that if Lincoln and his group come over and run into him—they should realize by now that the old monk is no ordinary person—if they face him, there’s a seven or eight out of ten chance they’ll be controlled!"
Elijah and Douglas trusted Sean’s words and immediately quickened their steps, heading towards the temple’s exit.
When they were less than a hundred meters from the exit, sudden gunshots were heard from that direction.
The gunfire was just a short burst that stopped shortly after.
"That’s Lincoln’s gun!" Elijah’s face changed color, "It’s not the Type 38 rifle used by the monks!"
"Hurry up!" Sean urged, "We need to think of something..."
At the temple entrance, the old monk looked at the two men and two women lying on the ground and nodded in satisfaction.
Although the man holding the gun had resisted when he threw the powder and recited the Buddhist scriptures, firing a few shots, he was still supressed by the monk.
This restored his confidence—not that his hypnosis was ineffective, but rather because the previous opponents had been exceedingly strong.
Now it seemed that these three and the four on the ground were part of the same group, which meant there was room to maneuver!
The old monk took the guns and then began to go through everyone’s backpacks, examining the contents one by one.
It wasn’t until he heard footsteps coming from the temple area that he picked up Cheryl and held her in front of him as a shield.
The old monk’s back was against a mud wall, with Cheryl blocking the front and HarudaTomoko lying at his feet.
"Don’t come any closer. If you do, they will be killed," the old monk said calmly in English.
Although the tone was a bit strange, it was understandable.
"We won’t come over, but you’d better not do anything!" Elijah shouted, "I think you should realize that you can’t escape!"
"Where is your other companion?" The old monk inquired, looking at Elijah and Douglas while frowning, "Don’t deceive me, I know there are three of you!"
"Weren’t you chasing after him?" Douglas yelled, "Who knows if you tricked him somewhere and killed him..."
The old monk frowned again, a bit skeptical, but there was no time to waste. He spoke loudly once more:
"Back off and drop your guns. Tell me, what are you doing here? Why did you come here? Why are you causing trouble for us?"
"We’re here for a tourist adventure," Elijah lowered his gun but did not throw it away, "You were the one who attacked first! We were just defending ourselves!"
The old monk was somewhat at a loss for words, but he immediately said:
"Then drop your guns quickly, or I’ll kill this woman!"
The old monk held a bayonet to Cheryl’s neck.
Elijah and Douglas looked at each other and reluctantly dropped their guns to the ground.
The old monk was pleased with their actions and laughed, saying:
"Alright, now walk forward... Yes, yes..."
But at that moment, the old monk’s expression changed as he heard a noise!
It was coming from behind him!
There was a wall behind him, but...
