Chapter 791: Chapter 473: Some People Are Born as Scumbags!_3
The driver assured Sean Knight that everything was fine, but Knight still decided to inspect the truck himself, indicating that he didn’t need the driver’s help.
The driver didn’t mind, cheerfully handing over the key and heading off to get some food.
Elijah Hastings leaned in to ask:
"Boss, do you need any help?"
"No need," Knight waved off the offer. "Just eat your food and stay alert, there might be some issues later."
With that said, Hastings knew what he meant.
Knight went over to the truck, used the key to unlock the rear doors, and climbed inside.
As the driver had said, everything was neatly arranged.
After checking the contents, Knight stashed everything into his spatial realm. He certainly didn’t believe that Kannda Kouu would be so generous as to just swap the goods out.
In any case, it’s always best to be wary of others.
After taking away the items, Knight felt that the truck shouldn’t be left empty. So, he took out cases of supplies from his spatial realm and placed them into the truck.
Feeling that the weight was about right, Knight exited the truck carriage, locked the doors, and left to get some food.
After eating and taking a half-hour break, they set off again.
They drove until nightfall before finally reaching Tokyo.
Upon reaching Tokyo, with Christina Blackwood’s help, Knight and his team stayed at a five-star hotel.
According to Knight’s plan, the truck would head to the airport tomorrow, then its contents would fly back to domestic China on an airplane piloted by Charles Young.
During dinner, Knight informed the driver about this plan.
The driver had a cheerful look on his face. After dinner, they all retired to their rooms.
"Boss, do you think there’s something up with them?"asked Hastings after the driver left.
"Maybe," Knight replied nonchalantly. He glanced at Christina Blackwood, who was still eating, "It doesn’t matter, we’re leaving tomorrow anyway."
Douglas Cooper also glanced at Blackwood, with a somewhat regretful look on his face.
Hastings went over to Cooper and asked:
"What’s wrong? Can’t bear to leave her? By the way, how are things with you and Luna Turner?"
"What else? We broke up." Cooper looked miserable, "She likes assertive, attractive, a bit domineering, and wealthy men.
At first, we got along just fine, but after some time, I couldn’t keep up and well..."
Hastings shook his head. There was nothing he could do.
Everyone had their own destiny.
Charles Young’s girlfriend was a flight attendant. Since he was a pilot, their relationship was naturally stable.
Lincoln Harrington’s girlfriend was a translator. Although they were in different places, his girlfriend would call him every day, always clinging to him.
His own daughter-in-law wouldn’t cling to him as much, but he was confident he could maintain his relationship.
Only Cooper’s love life was comparatively rocky.
He finally found someone he fancied, but she fell for someone else in the end.
He found another person, but that relationship was too volatile.
After Hastings sighed, he noticed that Cooper kept glancing at Christina Blackwood.
Blackwood, on the other hand, was eating her food with a blank face.
How could her petite figure eat all that food?
Could that really be the case?
Hastings was suddenly interested in the gossip!
If that’s the case, wouldn’t that mean they will have two translators?
Ha ha ha ha.
Hastings wanted to laugh, but he held back. He didn’t want to break the mood.
After dinner, Knight and the others went their separate ways to rest.
Originally Hastings and Cooper wanted to guard the truck, but after Knight thought it over, he agreed.
The night passed without any incidents and the next morning, before breakfast, the hotel manager came with some people in tow.
Seeing the two people in uniform, a mocking smile appeared on Knight’s face.
As expected, they came.
"Mr. Knight, these two officers are here to see you," said the manager politely. "If you need, we can help you get a lawyer."
Now that’s what you call first-rate hotel service!
Knight shook his head and said:
"There’s no need, you get back to your work. I’ll handle this myself."
The manager nodded his head and turned to leave.
Christina Blackwood automatically took on the role of a translator.
"Mr. Knight, someone has reported that you plan to export cultural relics illegally. Please cooperate with our inspection."
"And who might you be?" Knight asked calmly, "Which department are you from?"
"My name is Yoshihara. This is my colleague Heno Yoko. We are from the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department."
Both were female officers, looking very professional.
Yoshihara looked about twenty-seven or twenty-eight, with short hair and a stern expression, staring at Knight as if he was a fugitive.
Heno Yoko was around thirty, with the physique of a typical housewife, charming with a gentle smile.
"Alright, I will cooperate with your inspection. However, I hope that the inspection will be unbiased and fair."
"Please trust our professional integrity." From the start, Yoshihara regarded Knight as a cultural relic trafficker. She received Knight’s full profile from the informant, including information that Knight had acquired a large number of valuable relics illegally.
And these cultural relics were set to be flown back to China today.
She wouldn’t allow such a thing to happen!
After inspecting the documents of several of Knight’s team members, Yoshihara expressed suspicion over the presence of Monica Reed.
Knight said:
"She’s a Japanese national, she came to help us this time. After we leave, she will return to her hometown."
As he spoke, he emphasized the words ’her hometown’.
Monica Reed’s face turned pale at first, but it seemed like she understood something, she lowered her head and said nothing.
Since Yoshihara was not usually involved in human background checks, she didn’t press this topic further. Then, she said to Knight:
"I need to inspect your truck."
Knight sneered:
"It seems like the person who reported us did a good job researching. Alright, follow us. I hope you can speed things up so as not to delay our journey."
Yoshihara was annoyed by Knight’s attitude. She retorted:
"Rest assured, if you’ve indeed violated our laws, you’ll be spending your next journey in jail!"
"Please don’t be so sure of yourself, overconfidence will lead to arrogance." After saying that, Knight headed towards the parking lot.
The truck driver and his assistant were both in the truck.
At that moment, seeing Knight and the two unfamiliar female officers come over, the two men exchanged a glance, their expressions complex when they turned to look at Knight.
Was it these two who leaked the information? It must have been that old Japanese soldier who urged them, right? They must be feeling pretty good about themselves now, huh?
But what will their expressions be when they see the result later?
