Chapter 764: Chapter 464: It’s a treasure for you, but a disaster for me! _3
Soon after, Elijah Hastings opened his eyes too.
They heard the noises outside.
The barking dogs in the village, the sounds from the main hall.
The door to the old monk’s room opened.
Sean Knight and Elijah Hastings immediately got up and opened the door.
"There are intruders outside; stay cautious. I will go and take a look..."
With the old monk saying that, Sean Knight and Elijah Hastings couldn’t help but feel embarrassed, as they hadn’t considered that possibility.
An elder goes ahead while the youngsters hide behind?
Even though this guy is Japanese.
After all, the stuff inside the main hall was already considered to be in his pocket by Sean Knight.
How could he let others pry it open?
And then, Sean Knight and the others hurriedly followed the old monk to the hall.
Inside the main hall, there were already four people standing, these four were currently in pairs working to pry open the doors to the side palace.
Apparently trying not to alert others, their prying was quite restrained.
They just didn’t expect the door to be so solid, the lock was an old-fashioned solid lock, prying it open was too strenuous.
Sean Knight and his party discovered them.
Sean couldn’t help laughing when he looked at the four people wearing head covers.
Even with a head cover on, one could see that one was wearing glasses.
Wasn’t this the same group of people from earlier today?
There was one extra person, Sean guessed it was probably the driver who didn’t reveal himself during the day.
With the light from the candles in the hall, the old monk also recognized where the people came from and immediately began to scold them.
At first, the man in black tried to argue, but after being scolded by the old monk, the man with glasses got angry, threw off his head cover, exposed his face quickly, and started shouting at the old monk.
"I didn’t expect..."
Vicky Wilson came to Sean and the others without them realizing it and listened to the man’s words, not resisting the urge to say something.
"What’s going on?" asked Sean.
"It’s a little complicated." Vicky hesitated for a moment but still translated:
"The glasses guy said he is from Tanaka’s family, and everything in here should belong to him. The old monk said there are no more people from Tanaka family. Everything belongs to the temple.
He said his aunt married the last head of Tanaka family, so he has the right to inherit. The Tanaka family is dead, but he isn’t, so all the stuff logically belongs to him.
The old monk says he isn’t incompatible to inherit these things because his last name isn’t Tanaka, and there’s nothing to inherit.
The glasses man said he could change his last name to Tanaka. And he told the old monk to stop playing tricks, saying he knew from his aunt that the temple had hidden some antiques from China.
When the old monk denied it, the glasses guy claimed the old monk wanted to keep all the goods for himself..."
It was quite a drama.
Just at that moment, the group pulled out their weapons.
Daggers, short knives.
Sean couldn’t help but click his tongue at the crude style of these people.
These weapons were too primitive!
He didn’t have much interest in this kind of play!
Seeing that the men in black wanted to engage, the old monk immediately retreated and was shouting something.
While hiding behind Elijah, Vicky quickly translated in a low voice:
"The glasses man said they would forcefully take the key if they didn’t hand it over. The old monk said we were guests, and this matter didn’t concern us, so he asked them not to hurt us..."
"Alright, at least he’s had a conscience." Sean signaled Elijah to protect Vicky, and he went forward to assess the four opponents.
Elijah obviously disagreed and stepped forward to take action. But suddenly, the sounds of chaos came from outside.
Then, more than ten people carrying hoes and sticks burst in from outside the entrance, angrily charging towards the main hall!
The men in black were dumbfounded.
By the time they tried to run away, Sean and Elijah had blocked their escape route.
"Knock them down!" Vicky continued to translate, clearly this was what the old monk had just said.
Among these ten people, most were middle-aged and elderly, but they had the strength from years of toiling in the field.
In their eyes, the old monk’s words were orders, and they decisively swung their sticks at the men in black without hesitation.
"Don’t harm the two young men and the girl..." Vicky continued translating very professionally, even at this moment, "They are good people..."
In front of the long sticks, the black-clad men’s short knives were like toys. Although one of them was a trained bodyguard, he was no match for multiple opponents.
After he managed to knock down one farmer, he was hit by three sticks on his arm and calf. The short knife was knocked away, and the man fell to the ground in pain.
In less than a minute, all four of them were knocked down, none of them without injuries.
Sean could see that these people weren’t going easy, and showed no mercy.
After the people were knocked down, the old monk said something loudly, and Vicky resumed her soft translation:
"Thank you for coming over to help. Now tie them up, gag them, and when daybreak comes tomorrow, take them to the small town and hand them over to the police."
The farmers bowed to the old monk and then pulled out ropes to tie up the four men, dragging them away.
"Alright, now let’s go back and rest. You’ve been entertained." After the farmers left with the men and closed the college gate, the old monk said to Sean and the others.
"No laughter. I didn’t expect to see such an exciting show here." Sean laughed, "The master has a great reputation among the villagers!"
"It’s mainly because the Ox-Head deity in the temple is somewhat efficacious, and also, I know a little bit of medicine... learned from books. I can treat simple illnesses for the villagers, so they trust me."
The old monk didn’t hide anything, saying:
"The medical books I learned are from China, traditional Chinese medicine. Oh, nowadays it’s called Han Medicine?
I think it’s better to call it Chinese Medicine. It’s good to use the term from where it comes from, no need to change it for some unspeakable purpose. Besides, what is the point of changing its name? Everyone knows what Chinese medicine is all about."
He’s a wise man!
Sean laughed.
Of course, the fact that the old monk is a wise man doesn’t affect Sean’s ability to retrieve what’s rightfully his.
On the contrary, it makes him more certain of the importance of these things.
Since the old monk could learn medical techniques from the artifacts, there must be many valuable things hidden inside!
