Chapter 743: Chapter 457: Hot Potato_3

However, thinking of her mission, she finally asked:

"So, Mr. Knight, did you find anything unusual when you salvaged the bodies?"

"Not really." Sean Knight shook his head, "At that time, I only saw chaos in the sea. After finding the bodies, we left.

If I had known that he was so rich and had done such a thing, I would have searched thoroughly for sure."

As Sean said this, Melanie felt that she couldn’t inquire further.

Sean Knight openly admitted that he wouldn’t let an opportunity pass if it presented itself.

To Melanie, this seemed like an open and honest attitude. The other party might not really care about what was on the plane—after all, they could afford such a huge island, so they probably wouldn’t fuss about minor details, right?

Of course, this was purely Melanie’s speculation.

"Any progress on the salvage operation?" Sean casually asked.

In fact, he had already seen divers constantly coming up and handing over some parts to the people on the deck.

"Not yet. No more bodies have been found." Melanie was quite clear about the situation and said, "The plane has broken into several pieces. According to our plan, we will salvage the useful things first, and deal with the wreckage later."

"Who does the plane belong to? Hays Gruss?" Sean asked again.

"No. Hays Gruss doesn’t have a plane registered under his name. The registered owner of this plane is an Indian wealthy merchant named Singh. However, Singh passed away two years ago."

What a mess!

Sean didn’t continue asking, realizing that there was not much to know.

"Officer Melinda, I won’t disturb your work anymore. You can continue the salvage operation. If you need my cooperation, you can find me on the island."

Sean showed Melanie the door.

But Melanie acted as if she hadn’t understood and said to Sean with a smile:

"Mr. Knight, the salvage operation won’t finish anytime soon. As the liaison officer assigned by the Marine Police, I hope I can take a look at the island. May I...?"

Melanie thought she had some charm. After arriving on the yacht, she noticed that they were all men, but she could tell that Sean and his subordinates were not in that kind of relationship.

So, could it be assumed that there was a lack of women around Sean at the moment?

He was wealthy, handsome, young, rich, and had a good personality!

Wasn’t he the definition of a golden bachelor?

It was impossible for Melanie not to be tempted.

If she could get together with such a rich person, it would be pleasing to the eye and provide sustenance—why not?

Sean didn’t expect Melanie to be so bold, so he said:

"Well in that case, welcome to our island, Miss Brown. Our island’s tourism is quite good. I will arrange for a professional guide to accompany you."

Elijah Hastings, who was with Sean, understood what was going on when he heard his boss mention a professional guide for Melanie.

They all suppressed their laughter as Melanie reported to the Marine police via radio, and then they headed for the port on their yacht.

When they arrived at the port, Sean didn’t get off the boat directly. Instead, he looked at several nearby boats and bought some fruit to bring back.

After leaving the port, Melanie was about to say something to Sean when she saw a beautiful Chinese girl approaching.

Seeing the happy expression on Lana Brown’s face as she looked at Sean, Melanie realized that she had overestimated herself.

However, she adjusted quickly. When Sean introduced her, she immediately assumed her role:

"Nice to meet you, Miss Brown. I’m a liaison officer assigned by the Marine Police to Big Island. For the next two days, I need to work closely with Mr. Knight."

After explaining herself, she couldn’t help but blame herself—why did she feel the need to explain? Wasn’t this a clear sign of guilt?

Lana Brown, however, seemed not to have noticed anything and shook hands with Melanie with a smile:

"Hello, welcome to our island! Our place is quite remote and we rarely interact with you, but as the island’s manager, we hope to receive guidance from the Marine Police."

When staying on someone else’s territory, one should respect their rules. Of course, this should be done on the surface. After all, dealing with a whole country is not something an individual can handle.

Melanie felt somewhat relieved when she saw how courteous Lana Brown was.

Sean didn’t pay attention to the subtle battle between the two women. He was no longer planning to visit the crash site. He had already taken advantage of the situation, and going there now seemed like asking for trouble. He thought it was better to investigate the cause of the plane crash.

What surprised him, however, was that after dinner, when he had planned to engage in some activities beneficial to physical and mental health with Lana Brown, Melanie came to him.

"Mr. Knight, I have a question to discuss." Melanie got straight to the point, turning the conversation towards work.

When she saw Lana Brown present, she extinguished the last glimmer of hope in her heart and prepared her script.

"What’s the question?" Not wanting to drive her away, Sean asked since it was still early.

"I heard that this is the second plane crash near Big Island." Melanie smiled and expressed her gratitude to Lana Brown, who had brought the tea, and then she began to discuss the real issue.

"Yes." Sean nodded, "Today at noon, because of this incident, we circled above Big Island in a plane, hoping to find the cause of the two plane crashes.

After all, if it had been just one plane, it would have been more acceptable. But two planes crashing indicate that there might be something on or near Big Island that affects the flights."

Melanie didn’t expect that Sean had not only considered this point but had also started an investigation.

"Did you find anything?" Melanie asked curiously.

"No, not yet." Sean shook his head, "When flying at a low altitude, we couldn’t see the whole picture. After increasing the altitude, objects appeared too small for the naked eye, making it difficult to find anything."

Melanie had originally intended to give Sean some tips on what she thought could be useful.

But she didn’t expect that Sean had already considered the altitude issue.

It seemed like she was being a bit too clever for her own good.

"Since Mr. Knight already has plans in this regard, I won’t bother you any more. I hope we can exchange information if anything is discovered." With no excuse to stay longer, Melanie stood up, "I’m going back."

After Melanie left, Lana Brown said with a half-smile and half-serious tone:

"This chubby officer seems to be quite interested in you!"

Sean hugged her and said:

"That’s normal. I am quite charming, after all ..."

There was no conversation that night. We dare not say more, otherwise it’ll be a 404 error.
