Chapter 630: Chapter 411: A Group of People Lacking Lessons
Sean Knight and Elijah Hastings appeared in front of the main hall, attracting the attention of most of the young people in the courtyard. At this point, even the most foolish among them knew that it was Sean and his companions who had saved them.
After a moment of curiosity and silence, enthusiastic applause broke out.
Obviously, most of the people were very grateful to Sean and the others for their rescue.
Sean and his companions did not intend to have any interaction with these people, as the impression they had left before was terrible.
Although the situation was now somewhat improved, Sean knew it would be best to keep a low profile at this time.
He waved to the people and, along with Elijah, walked toward the main hall.
Entering the main hall, Elijah asked with some confusion:
"Boss, where’s Douglas?"
Sean shook his head and replied:
"He should be on the sandy beach outside, right? You saw it, after all, the young people who were released are not at peace. Douglas should be handling disputes and solving some troubles."
Sean knew from his understanding of Douglas Cooper that he would not be slacking off.
"Let’s check out the spoils of war first," the three of them headed toward the main hall.
"What was the main cargo of the cargo ship last night?"
"It wasn’t loaded with anything when it left our port. During the stopover, some food was loaded, supposedly to be delivered to Europe—due to the war, they are experiencing a food shortage."
Sean did not comment, thinking it could be possible—after all, the European granary was in a severe state, and the food shortage was to be expected.
However, it was hard to say exactly where the shortage was occurring.
Entering the large room in the main hall, Elijah and Lincoln Harrington placed the large bag on the table.
The room had been cleaned of corpses and bloodstains and was now relatively tidy.
"There’s quite a bit of cash and some checks," began Elijah, opening the bag. "That captain just got paid. These people—men would go to the factory, and the women would be sold on the dark web via auction."
Sean’s interest was not piqued by the stacks of cash, but by the invoices and documents that made his eyes widen.
Well, if these were handed over to the police, they would constitute criminal evidence.
But since the captain had already faced the consequences, Sean only glanced at them and paid no further attention.
"The boat belongs to a certain overseas company and is affiliated with a European group," Elijah continued. "It’s unclear if the company allowed this or if it was the captain’s doing."
"My bag is mostly cash," added Lincoln, opening his bag. "But there are at least seven or eight different types."
"You two can split it," Sean said with a smile. "This trip was originally meant to be a favor for Douglas, but wouldn’t our actions be considered justifiable and courageous? You guys didn’t do this for nothing."
In a hushed tone, Sean continued, "These things must be kept low-key, so let this money be a reward."
When he put it like that, Elijah and Lincoln didn’t hesitate and zipped up their bags.
"I also found some other things," Sean said. "I think this trip wasn’t a waste..."
Just then, footsteps could be heard outside.
Sean could tell that it was Douglas.
Douglas walked in, an apologetic look on his face, and said to Sean:
"Boss, did my brother cause you any trouble just now?"
Elijah and Lincoln both looked at Sean. They hadn’t thought of it before because Sean hadn’t mentioned it.
"It’s nothing. Your brother is just inexperienced, that’s all," Sean said nonchalantly before asking Douglas:
"Did you go to sort out a dispute just now? I noticed earlier that these young people are so energetic. As soon as they are out of danger, hormones start pumping..."
"Yes. Two groups were fighting on the beach over a pretty shell for the girls, which is really boring..."
Sean laughed and said:
"It’s fine. They won’t have the energy to fight by this afternoon. There isn’t enough food here. Once they get hungry, they will definitely become much more docile."
Elijah and the others immediately understood Sean’s plan.
Yesterday, while cleaning up the place, the food and the firearms confiscated from the guards had been collected.
So, it was impossible for these nearly three hundred people to be well-fed.
Their current energy to run around and fight was due to their newfound freedom and the sufficient convenient breakfast Sean provided them with in the morning.
By noon, when their food was mostly digested, even if they wanted to continue frolicking, they wouldn’t have the energy for it.
"Boss, how much food do you plan to give them?"
"One loaf of bread per person per meal," Sean said. "It won’t starve them, but it won’t fill them either."
If they want to be full, they must exchange labor or rely on their survival skills to find food at the seaside."
"If they go to the cargo ship side..." Lincoln sounded worried.
"Tell them that the ship belongs to someone else, and they can go if they want, but if someone finds the ship and takes them away, they’ll have to face the consequences," Sean thought for a moment and said, "Later, when we distribute the bread at noon, tell them."
As expected, it didn’t take long for the people to start complaining about being hungry.
The bread was retrieved from the spatial realm by Sean, and it was still warm when it came out.
Elijah and the others didn’t find it surprising, thinking that Sean had asked the cooks and servants to bake the bread while they were in the main hall.
