Chapter 605: Chapter 398: Turns Out the Luck Slot Isn’t Empty Yet! _2

The chubby girl only took a glance and then turned back to face Sean Knight and Mia, saying:

"Nope, you guys failed the game. A toast, and then restart!"

Sean thought Mia would refuse, but surprisingly, she agreed.

After the two had their drinks, Sean knew there would be someone to ruin the game again. As Mia held the card between her lips, Sean swiftly took it and sucked it away.

He wasn’t sure if it was an illusion, but Sean saw a hint of disappointment in Mia’s eyes.

What did that mean?

The game continued, and the two troublemakers figured out they’d been tricked. After searching for a while and not finding out who did it, they behaved themselves.

The game went on until almost nightfall.

In the meantime, the two lewd men wouldn’t give up. Boosted by alcohol, they attempted to get physical but were beaten by Douglas Cooper, who cursed and left angrily.

Rather than frightening the bridesmaids, the violent Douglas received a bold kiss on the cheek from the bridesmaid he defended.

In other people’s words, it was a hero saving a damsel in distress!

Sean Knight, Lincoln Harrington, and Douglas Cooper left the new house, and Elijah Hastings wanted to escort them, but Sean refused.

After some drinking, the three men didn’t feel like going back to sleep.

Sean remembered the noodle slices with sour soup from yesterday and suddenly said:

"Come on, have some sour soup noodles with me. Do you want to?"

"Sure, let’s go!"

"Alright, let’s see if the place is still open."

Although it was his first time in the city, Sean memorized the location clearly. The three took a taxi to the place and found the middle-aged woman still there.

"Three bowls of noodle slices, make them thin," Sean said to the woman.

The woman recognized Sean and smiled:

"Alright, have a seat."

"It smells delicious!" Lincoln nodded.

Douglas sat across from Sean and, taking a tissue, wiped the table, somewhat surprised:

"It’s quite clean."

Sean asked, "You guys doing alright?"

"This little bit of alcohol’s nothing." Douglas waved. "But Sean, you’re quite popular with the ladies! Mia seems interested in you."

"Enough. I feel like every time someone interacts with me, you think they’re interested," Sean mocked him. "Forget about me, look at Elijah getting married! So happy! Aren’t you two going to speed up your steps?"

"Me? Heh!" Douglas laughed coldly. "In my family’s rules, my older brother has to get married before me!"

"That’s bullshit. If you find a good match, just don’t get married yet or get your marriage license first and have a ceremony later!"

Sean was familiar with Douglas’ family situation, so he spoke more casually.

"Girls from my town...everybody’s well aware of my family situation. Most who would be willing to marry into my family would be after money." Douglas spoke quietly. "The more decent girls don’t want to deal with my family..."

"Then let Elijah’s wife introduce someone to you. Worst case, try matchmaking! Elijah met his wife through matchmaking, and they’re great together! I don’t believe you can’t find someone good!"

"Don’t bring it up. It makes me uncomfortable...why are families like that?"

Lincoln suddenly chimed in:

"I read somewhere that in a family, if there are more selfish people, then the one who’s sacrificed will be the kindest and the one who gives the most.

If the kind person isn’t willing to be sacrificed, they’ll be accused of not caring about the family’s overall situation, not taking care of the family, and disrespecting their parents, and undergo moral blackmail..."

He didn’t continue, but the meaning was clear.

"I’ll think about it..."

Douglas muttered a reply.

The noodle slices with sour soup were served, and Sean said while grabbing his chopsticks:

"Come on, give it a try! The taste is great, and it helps with the hangover!"

Douglas took a bite and raised his thumb:

"Delicious! The taste is on point!"

Lincoln didn’t say anything but ate at a fast pace.

Within a few minutes, the noodle slices were finished. The three had another half bowl of soup and then sat at the booth chatting.

"Have you guys been helping around here these days?" Sean asked.

"I have." Lincoln nodded. "I live close by."

"I haven’t. I came here less than a week ago." said Douglas. "I went back and dived into the sea by our place for a few days, trying to find some seafood.

In the end, resources are... far worse than what you have on your island! I originally wanted to film an underwater video to show off to my circle of friends, but there was nothing down there but rocks and garbage..."

"No way? With the fishing ban every year, it can’t be that bad, can it?" Sean found it hard to believe.

"See for yourself!" Douglas showed Sean his phone when he saw the disbelief. He took out several underwater videos he’d filmed while diving and showed it to Sean.

Sean accepted the videos and watched. Indeed, the seawater in the videos was very murky, and there were very few living things underwater.

Occasionally, small fish would swim across the screen.

The resources were really scarce!

Having viewed two of the three similarly scarce videos, Sean was about to close the third one when a dark object flashed by.

"Is this a big stone? Which sea area is this?" Sean asked Douglas impulsively.

"Which video?"

Sean handed the phone to Douglas to look at it.

"Let me see..." Douglas took the phone and examined it carefully. "This one?"
