Chapter 541: Chapter 367: Mine, Mine, All Mine!_2
Although the daylight was a bit dim, it was still clear enough to see into the distance as he plunged underwater.
The depth of the sea was somewhat shallower in this area, and there was noticeably more sandy seafloor.
As soon as he reached the seafloor and activated Sky Eye, Sean Knight immediately found something promising!
Underneath the sand, there were several rotten planks!
Some of these planks were almost completely decayed, while others were still largely intact.
Sean didn’t salvage these planks, sensing that the distribution of the planks extended towards a specific area.
He immediately swam over there.
There were quite a few high reefs here. Though they did not reach the sea surface, they could still potentially cause a shipwreck if the hull of the ship was deep enough!
Modern ships often have radars that can scan for these reefs and avoid them - after all, this area is not considered a waterway nowadays, and less developed ships would not venture here.
However, ancient ships didn’t have such advantages. Some relied on the experience of sailors, while others depended on their sight and luck.
Sinking ships were, thus, quite a common occurrence.
As expected, shortly afterwards, he came across a large scattering of plank fragments and some boxes of cargo.
Most of them were broken apart. Then, using Sky Eye, Sean saw a significant amount of gold and silver ware, iron tools, and some decayed items scattered in the sand.
Luckily, the boxes containing gold and silver were relatively concentrated. Sean swam over, brushed off the sand, and picked up the gold and silver ware.
Fortunately, it was mostly official gold and silver ingots. He estimated there were about five boxes of gold ingots and five boxes of silver ingots. Sean worked quickly to collect the gold ingots and a good portion of the silver ingots before he halted.
Afterwards, he took a large tour of the area nearby but found nothing else. He then filled a net pocket he had brought along with some silver ingots, along with some iron tools and planks, and lifted them to the surface.
Tomorrow, he would widen the search radius. For now, he would leave this area to the salvage ship!
When Sean resurfaced, he saw that Elijah Hastings, Douglas Cooper, and Lana Brown were all watching him.
Especially Lana Brown, whose face immediately lit up with a bright smile upon seeing him.
Lincoln Harrington must have been controlling the yacht. Still, Sean passed the net pocket to Elijah who was outstretching his hand, and as he climbed aboard, he smiled and said:
"There seems to be less seafood in the water these days. I guess we would have to keep it frugal for a while."
"Wow, boss, that’s quite a haul! Is there a sunken ship down there?"
"Yes," answered Sean, "There are fragments of a sunken ship, and quite a bit of loot. I just picked up some of it."
He said this primarily to divert Lana Brown’s attention. But he noticed that Lana was still staring at him, only glimpsing what was in the net pocket before helping him remove his diving equipment.
The attention in her gaze made Sean somewhat uncomfortable.
With Sky Eye on, it was clear to him that the spark in Lana’s eyes was not an act.
He was feeling a bit overwhelmed.
After removing his diving suit, Sean deliberately avoided Lana’s gaze and said:
"I’m a bit tired. Let’s go grab something to eat."
He then intended to head to the kitchen.
But Lana followed closely behind, saying as she walked:
"I have already prepared some seafood porridge and a few side dishes. I think you’ll enjoy them."
She had even taken note of his tastes?
Sean felt a bit overwhelmed.
When he was dating Joanna Davis, their interactions were mostly light-hearted chats followed by rolling in the sheets.
When having a relationship with Cheryl Suweton, their affection was born out of special circumstances - falling in love before having a real discussion.
Now, suddenly, someone was actively pursuing him, which Sean was not used to.
However, he soon came around. If someone was pursuing, why not let them? After all, he wasn’t at a disadvantage - he was already quite a scoundrel, being more of one didn’t make much of a difference.
So he basked in Lana’s care, enjoyed his dinner, admired the sunset and then decided to rest for the night.
The previous night Lana had slept in a guest room since she was a guest, Sean was naturally in the master room, while Elijah and others were either in the crew’s quarters or on the deck.
However, that evening, not long after Sean had just settled down in the master bedroom, he heard footsteps.
He recognized them as Lana’s.
Wasn’t this moving a bit too fast?
Sean didn’t see himself as particularly attractive, but he had truly underestimated his allure.
Lana, in a low-cut sleeping gown with slightly flushed cheeks, carried a hint of alcohol. Sean could tell she had been drinking red wine.
Alcohol for courage?
This sentence surged within Sean Knight’s mind.
Then, he saw something he shouldn’t have. She wasn’t wearing anything under her sleepwear, but in front of Sky Eye, being dressed or undressed did not make much of a difference.
Walking to Sean’s bed and sitting down, Lana Brown gathered the courage to hug Sean and whisper:
"I can only do this much, and no more..."
At this point, if Sean remained passive, it would be no better than behaving like a brute.
Given that it was her first time, Sean was rather considerate for this one.
Hence, early the next morning, Lana was blushing brightly and was pretty much comfortable.
She curiously asked Sean in a low voice:
"Why don’t I... feel uncomfortable? Instead, it feels... good?"
"It’s because I gave more."
Lana blushed.
Of course, Sean was referring to the energy used to heal Lana.
Perhaps she misunderstood.
Afterward, the relationship between the two became more intimate.
"Pay up! You owe me!" Douglas Cooper said to Elijah Hastings and Lincoln Harrington in the sailor’s cabin. "I was right, wasn’t I?"
Sean overheard this and thought, what a bunch of jerks!
He was incensed that they had dared to bet on him!
After establishing a relationship, rather than becoming presumptuous, Lana became even more gentle, causing Sean’s heart to stir.
"Actually, I have my own selfish motives." As the two were being affectionate on the deck, Lana confessed. "Once we started our relationship, you would surely think of allowing me to stay on Big Island to manage the tourism business. After all, since we’re now a couple, you’d feel more assured leaving this to me, right?"
This was indeed the case.
Sean couldn’t help but nod.
"I don’t want to go back to the Beautiful Country. Once this task is over, I want to stay on Big Island. When you are here, I can accompany you to have fun, let loose. When you leave, I will prepare for the business—"
It was hard for Sean to refuse this request.
The salvage ship had already locked onto the position of the sunken ship and started salvaging the items inside.
Meanwhile, Sean went ashore and made a big detour nearby while the salvage ship was busy.
In the end, he found nothing. In this area spanning several kilometers, there was only this one sunken ship.
Salvaging was quite a tedious process so Sean informed Lana that he planned to return to Big Island once to resupply the yacht.
Lana said:
"Then I’ll go to the salvage ship. It’s a good opportunity to keep an eye on Guye and his team—I’m worried they may cheat during the salvage."
"In that case, I’ll leave Lincoln Harrington here with you." Sean said, "In case of any problems, he can protect you."
Since Lana was now his woman, Sean certainly didn’t want any harm to come to her.
After all, Lambert Bruno, though seemingly harmless now, did display a conspicuous personality. Who knew if he might resort to dirty tricks.
One had to guard against this.
Lana could sense Sean’s care for her and nodded happily.
Sean then left Lincoln behind and armed him with weaponry, with a hint to deal with matters as they came.
Lincoln of course understood and nodded vigorously.
With a gun in hand, he wasn’t afraid of those people on the ship.
When the yacht returned to Big Island for supplies along the original route, Sean noticed that there were a few more people on the island.
Through the explanation of the harbor director, it turned out that this was Leroy Brown, the son of Elder Brown, here to replace Lana.
Seeing Sean, Leroy approached him with a broad smile, extending his hand:
"Mr. Knight, I’ve heard so much about you! We’re really destined to cross paths. We just arrived here with the experts, and we haven’t even made a plan yet, and here you are! What a coincidence!"
Sean smiling sardonically, said:
"So you’re Leroy Brown? Here to take over Lana’s job? Perfect timing, I also think Lana has been working too hard, and your arrival to replace her is a great relief."
As soon as he heard that Sean was already on a first-name basis with Lana, Leroy felt a sense of foreboding.
Didn’t Lana manage to win over Sean?
This was going to complicate his plan of smoothly taking over the task!
