Chapter 507: Chapter 350: The Mystery under the Lake Bottom - Part 2
He immediately began searching for this possible point.
He circled around for a while, but couldn’t find the spot. Sean felt tired and slowly surfaced.
He came ashore in the forest, took off his diving suit, put it away, and returned to the hollow place.
Lincoln was preparing food there; Elijah and Douglas were not around, probably still monitoring the campground.
"Boss, Captain Hastings came back a while ago and said that if you returned, he would update you on the situation. The camp is now urging us to salvage as quickly as possible. They must have heard some news, which is why there has been a change."
After hearing Lincoln’s words, Sean realized that the pressure must have come from Kathy’s side.
"Alright, let’s take action tonight. We will sabotage their supplies and sink their boats. We’ll throw their diving equipment into the lake." Sean thought for a moment, deciding that there was no need to deceive them any longer; he should drive them away directly.
Upon hearing this, Lincoln also became a bit cheerful.
Even teasing a dog could be annoying at times. Now, as long as they drove these people away, the four of them could search for treasure peacefully in the lake.
Finding the treasure would bring in income—how great!
That evening, when Elijah and Douglas returned, and upon hearing Sean’s suggestions, they all shared ideas while eating:
"Why don’t we just tie up their security personnel?" Douglas said confidently. "Then we can go in and do the damage. As long as we don’t show our faces, we’ll be safe."
Elijah disagreed: "I think it’s better to be more mysterious. Most of the people in the camp are Native Americans. If we scare them away, the remaining people won’t pose much of a threat."
"Alright, it’s settled. You can tie up the security personnel—just make sure it’s done without a trace. Of course, it’s best to sink the two boats as we did last time."
"Understood. After they leave, we can still use the sunken boats."
Sean laughed, thinking that Douglas was clever, even though he hadn’t always used his intelligence for good in the past.
"I’ll take care of the supplies. I’ll bring them all back!"
Sean was accurate in assessing his own role: "We’ll each do our part, making sure to ensure safety. Even if we don’t complete the mission, we mustn’t let anything go wrong."
Once the general plan was set, the rest became easier. In the latter half of the night, the four of them stealthily headed toward the camp.
Although nothing had happened for a few days, the security personnel remained vigilant.
They had set bonfires and put up solar-powered lamps around the camp, illuminating the area brightly.
Two sentries were patrolling around the camp together, remaining very alert.
Sean didn’t make a move, waiting for Elijah and the others to take care of the two sentries first.
Although he couldn’t do much himself, Sean believed that Elijah and the others would have a solution.
Sure enough, after a while, the two sentries deviated from their patrol route—there was a faint noise near the edge of the camp near the forest.
The two sentries immediately turned on their flashlights and looked in that direction, seemingly spotting something. They moved closer to investigate.
As they approached the forest, two shadows suddenly sprang out from either side. Each person faced one, and with a single strike, the two sentries were rendered unable to fight back. They couldn’t even cry out before losing consciousness.
After tying up the two sentries and stuffing something in their mouths, the two shadows gestured to Sean and then circled around towards the lake.
Sean scanned the camp with his Sky Eye and saw that the others were asleep, with no hidden sentries. He sighed with relief and moved toward the main tent.
When Sean reached the entrance of the main tent, he was surprised to find that the tent had been locked from the inside.
He thought that the people must have added locks because the loss of supplies had something to do with the tent not being locked in the past.
Using his Sky Eye to scan inside the tent, he found someone inside!
Thinking about it, it made sense—if the tent was locked from the inside, someone must be inside.
After pondering for a moment, Sean suddenly had a hooked blade and an ether-soaked towel in his hand.
He inserted the hooked blade into the tent’s opening and carefully pried at it.
The tent was, after all, made of fabric. Although the door frames were made of metal, the door latch was usually made of fabric rope.
There was just a rope tied on the inside as a makeshift lock.
With his Sky Eye, Sean slowly jimmied the hooked blade through the door opening and started working on the rope. After a while, the rope finally came undone.
Sean sneaked in quietly, approached the snoring person, and found that it was actually Martin!
What a coincidence!
However, Sean Knight didn’t show mercy, covering Martin’s mouth directly with a towel soaked in ether, causing him to quickly pass out.
Sean found a large backpack, packed it with supplies, and then swiftly cleared out all the supplies in the tent.
As he left, Sean carefully tied the soft door latch back together.
He believed that they wouldn’t pay attention to this detail once they discovered it.
Upon returning to the makeshift camp at the hollow place, Sean used the Sky Eye to scan the area and found that Elijah Hastings and the others hadn’t returned yet. So, he started taking out supplies from the spatial realm in batches.
After piling up a large amount of supplies, Sean thought for a moment, then packed them into separate backpacks and hung them from the trees to avoid attracting wild animals at night.
It took about two hours for Elijah and the others to return one after another.
Although the three of them looked a bit tired, they were still somewhat excited.
"Boss, both boats sank. But it’s not a big problem. We know where the issues are, and some simple repairs will suffice." Elijah was the first to speak as usual, and Douglas Cooper added after he finished:
"The two sentries were knocked out instantly by us. I don’t think they’ll be able to say much when they wake up."
This was exactly what Sean had requested for the mission – to leave the other party clueless and make them suspicious.
"We also tampered with the other machinery," said Lincoln Harrington last. "It’s not easy to notice, but it’s the kind that breaks as soon as used."
"That’s brilliant," Sean laughed. "Alright, we’ve also moved much of the supplies." He pointed at the backpacks hidden in the trees around them, "They’re all hidden. We can take them when we need to use them."
"Boss, you’re incredible!" Douglas walked around and took a closer look at the trees only to discover the backpacks with supplies hidden among the branches. "These supplies are enough to last us for one or two months!"
Upon hearing this, Elijah and Lincoln also looked surprised.
"I am mainly worried that, once daylight breaks tomorrow, they might discover the issue and possibly come to inspect. Therefore, I thought it best to keep these supplies hidden."
That being said, they weren’t extremely worried.
With such a vast lake, finding this specific location would be nearly impossible.
With the mission accomplished and the goal almost achieved, the four men climbed the trees, with Elijah and the others taking turns standing guard and resting.
Early the next day, cries of alarm were heard from the campground.
When the first person to wake up found no sentries around, he took a look around and discovered the sentries lying on the grassland.
After Elijah and the others left, they drugged the sentries with ether, loosened their bindings, and removed their ropes and gags.
However, the sentries couldn’t wake up anytime soon.
Unable to rouse them no matter what, the man cried out in alarm!
The Kickapoo Chief and Bellamy Lang’s hearts immediately tightened upon hearing the cries.
Then, they went to check on the boats.
As expected, the boats had vanished again!
Afterward, they inspected the tent and found it reversed.
They initially breathed a sigh of relief but, unsettled, the Kickapoo Chief forced the tent door open and discovered that the supplies had disappeared!
Martin was still lying on his bed, and Bellamy thought he was just asleep. In a fit of anger, he tried to shake Martin awake, only to find out that Martin had been drugged!
The Kickapoo Chief suddenly remembered that the door had been locked earlier, and his brain started twitching:
"Mr. Bellamy, we quit!"
The painful experience of their previous day-long ordeal was still fresh in his mind. If it happened again, death would be preferable to life!
He didn’t want that!
At this point, Bellamy had no inclination to persuade the Chief. He rushed out and called the security captain:
"You guys, search the surrounding forest right now! With so many supplies, they can’t be far!"
Bellamy firmly believed it was not some supernatural occurrence, but someone lurking in the shadows, attacking them secretly!
