Chapter 360: Chapter 275: Forced to Leave
The mercenary was startled and hurriedly whispered the translation to Sean Knight:
"They said they found weapons and over-standard bullets in the car!"
Upon hearing this, Sean was so angry that he wanted to curse!
What the hell? Weren’t they just looking for trouble?
Obviously, the military officer was already getting nervous!
Sean urgently asked the mercenary:
"Who has a gun license?"
"I do!" The mercenary immediately replied.
"Then quickly take out your gun license!" Sean urged, "Hurry up!"
The mercenary didn’t expect Sean to lose his temper, and he promptly took out his credentials.
Sean immediately took a wad of US dollars from his pocket, tucked it into the documents, then turned around and handed it to the military officer with a smile.
The officer took it with a puzzled look.
"Quick, translate! Tell him the gun is yours, and the bullets were picked up nearby!"
The mercenary asked somewhat stupidly:
"Will he believe that?"
"Just translate!" The fool, Sean wanted to kill him right now!
The mercenary translated with a bit of grievance.
The military officer slapped the documents in his hand and said a few words noncommittally.
The mercenary became even more aggrieved:
"He wants to fine us..."
Sean breathed a sigh of relief, it’s good if they just want money!
"Give him! Give him as much as he wants!"
Sean actually didn’t bring much money with him, only 500 dollars he took out just now. He was afraid that if he brought too much, these people would have malicious thoughts.
The mercenary begrudgingly took out the money for the fine.
The military officer took the money, smiled, and returned his credentials.
Thankfully, that hurdle had finally been overcome.
He ordered the soldiers to take away all the bullets, and then he left with his men.
They could finally relax.
The mercenary was still grumbling with some grievance.
Sean simply took out a hundred-dollar bill and handed it to him:
"Is that enough?"
"Enough, enough!" The mercenary happily accepted.
Elijah Hastings came to report:
"Many of our things have been turned upside down, and we have lost a lot of supplies."
"So what if it’s a little less? Now notify everyone to clean up, and after that, gather everyone."
Half an hour later, everyone was assembled.
"Alright, we’ve been checked, and we’re safe now." Sean began, "Next, assign sentries and have the rest prepare to eat."
Although the inspection was over, Sean wouldn’t let his guard down. While eating, his ears were always listening carefully to any sounds around them.
Elijah wanted to retrieve their weapons, but Sean wouldn’t let them.
If the soldiers came back for a surprise check, they would be in big trouble.
Fortunately, nothing happened overnight.
Early the next day, after breakfast, Eric Barber returned with his men.
However, Van Derick and his two female companions didn’t come back. Additionally, the two injured mercenaries were also missing.
Sean went up to ask about the situation, and Eric, who was sitting on a tree stump by the tent, said:
"The situation is complicated. In any case, because of the over-standard weapons Van Derick’s people have brought with them, and since we are currently near the border, and there’s a group of soldiers who have escaped from Ukraine to here, we are ordered to leave... the treasure hunting is temporarily suspended."
His face was full of regret.
Sean didn’t know how to console him.
Eric sighed and continued:
"I don’t know when this war will end, only when it’s over can we continue to dig up the treasure... I hope we can return before next year."
Sean asked:
"What about Van Derick and the others? Are they still locked up?"
Eric nodded:
"Yes. However, they should be released tomorrow. They just need to reissue some procedures, and Belarus needs an explanation since he was indeed caught carrying illegal firearms.
I heard you guys were checked yesterday?"
The last topic was brought up by Eric to avoid disappointing Sean, forcibly changed the subject.
"Yes, some of our supplies were taken. They also found bullets in the car, and I had to bribe the military officer to let us go." Sean reported truthfully, "Thankfully, your warning allowed us to bury some of the things ahead of time, otherwise, the losses would have been enormous and we would be in more trouble."
"That’s good. By the way, did you guys find anything yesterday?" Eric asked politely.
"We dug up a box of approximately 100 kg of gold coins." Sean smiled, his tone slightly proud, "So we didn’t leave empty-handed."
"Really?" This news cheered Eric up right away, "Come on, let me see?"
"It’s still buried." Sean smiled, "I was afraid it would have been confiscated if we didn’t bury it."
"Okay, okay!" Eric laughed, "I never thought... This treasure hunt would yield the largest gains on your side!"
Sean and Eric went together to dig up the gold coins.
Looking at the dazzling gold coins, Eric sighed:
"I always thought the treasure would be in the area where I found the strong metal response, but I never expected such a big harvest on your side... Perhaps that’s the correct location after all..."
"I don’t think so?" Sean pretended not to believe:
"These gold coins are worth at most a few million euros, there’s no way they could be worth tens of billions, right?"
"Maybe there’s more." Eric pondered, "Besides, these are ancient gold coins and very rare, so you can’t calculate their value using today’s gold prices."
"Even so, it’s still far off." Sean thought it would be better to make it clear, "Besides, there were no other metals in the area where I searched other than this box."
