Chapter 241: Chapter 215: The New Treasure Hunt Event
"Yongle Encyclopedia" case came to an end, and with Sean Knight’s approval, Mr. Reynolds put the photocopies out, causing a stir in the academic community.
After all, many of the contents appeared for the first time and could really be studied and yield many great findings.
It would not be an exaggeration to say that multiple papers could be published in a core journal.
However, this had nothing to do with Sean Knight anymore.
After the two volumes of "Yongle Encyclopedia" were repaired, Sean put the items into his spatial realm, and it would not be taken out unless necessary in a short period.
As for making a contribution, neither Mr. Reynolds nor Sean mentioned it.
In fact, both sides know that making photocopies available for research is already a contribution.
After all, cultural inheritance is the most important. As for the carrier, let’s keep it for ourselves.
For a period of time, Sean’s life was very stable.
He would go to the freight yard every day, then pick up Joanna when she was done with her class, go shopping, watch movies, buy stuff, and have sex.
Actually, Sean Knight was already thinking about getting married, but Joanna was still in university, and she didn’t want to step into the marriage so early, so they had to wait.
In the freight yard, the auction of five containers had just ended.
The auctioneer happily took his share and left.
Jason Caldwell, smiling, said to Sean Knight:
"Bosuns, things are better when you’re around. For these recent auctions, there’s always a high bid of over 30,000 dollars — that wasn’t common before!"
Sean Knight knew that after he had left for the treasure hunt in the jungle, Jason had been working hard, but there was no advantage of Sky Eye and more competitors, which diluted the profits.
So, in the later stages before Sean returned, having an auction with more than 10,000 dollars was considered a success.
Now that Sean was back, he auctioned off the unclaimed containers purchased from various freight yards, and there were big cargoes in each auction, not all gathered together, nor none at all.
So every auction allowed the treasure hunters to have an "unexpected harvest", and during this period, the reputation of the freight yard specialized in holding auctions rose again. Judging from the more than forty treasure hunters who came to join the auction today, it’s already impressive.
How many active treasure hunters are there in New York Harbor?
Today, at least half of them have come!
It’s really incredible!
In fact, Sean felt that life like this was quite good, though not stimulating, but stable at least.
Elijah Hastings and Lincoln Harrington had no objections, but Douglas Cooper, the man standing with them, did.
Protecting Sean Knight and getting paid more than working in the freight yard, however, compared to the several hundred thousand dollars divided by Elijah and Lincoln last time, it was indeed a small sum.
Douglas Cooper thought he was no worse than his two comrades in arms, but the money he got was different, so he definitely had some thoughts.
However, whether Sean went treasure hunting or not was not up to him. All he could do with his thoughts was to keep quiet.
At least it was better than being a security guard.
After the auction ended, Jason invited Sean Knight:
"Bosuns, would you like to come over to my place for lunch? Freya said she learned a new Chinese cuisine, and she wants to show it to you."
"Sure. Let her make a bit more." Sean nodded since he was free and there would be another auction in the afternoon.
Jason happily made a phone call to his home, and then Sean’s mobile phone rang too.
He picked it up and saw it was from Mr. John and answered it. Mr. John said:
"Sean, someone is looking for you and wants to invite you to help with treasure hunting. What do you think..."
"Is he someone you know?" Sean didn’t really care whether to treasure hunt or not.
"He’s an old friend of mine who introduced him. Of course, he came for your reputation." Mr. John said, "You can decide on your own whether to do it or not. Don’t take my factor into account."
It was impossible not to take his factor into account.
Now that Mr. John had mentioned it, Sean would naturally go and take a look, so he asked:
"Where is the person? I’d like to talk more before making a decision."
"He’s in my bar."
When Sean and the others arrived, Mr. John looked at the other three and said to Sean:
"They are all good young men, and you do need them by your side."
Then he pointed to a white man about thirty years old sitting by the window and said, "This is Luke Paris, a reporter, according to my old friend. He occasionally got a clue and wants to find a partner."
Sean nodded, indicating that Elijah and the others could sit anywhere, while he went to Luke’s table.
Luke was almost five feet nine inches tall but thin. He wore a suit, which looked very decent. However, with the help of Sky Eye, Sean could see that the suit had been worn for a long time, and some shallow stains had not been cleaned, or couldn’t be cleaned.
Luke had just shaved, but there were a few small cuts on his chin, either from being in a hurry or from the razor.
His eyes were bloodshot, and there were dark circles around them, probably from a long period without proper rest.
"Hello, I’m Sean Knight," Sean introduced himself, "I heard you have clues to a treasure?"
"I didn’t expect you to be so young!" Luke didn’t mention the treasure and looked surprised instead, "Is all that talk true?"
Sean Knight shrugged, "If you believe it, then it’s true. If you don’t, then it’s just talk. I don’t think I need to explain."
Luke didn’t expect Sean to say that. He hesitated for a moment, then whispered, "I’m not questioning your abilities, but this is a vast fortune. I don’t want more people to know about it — I mean, I don’t want the news to spread without getting the fortune first."
