Road to becoming the wealthiest: Starting From Treasure Hunting in the Cabinets
Chapter 146 - 145: This Price, Do You Think I’m a Fool?

Chapter 146: Chapter 145: This Price, Do You Think I’m a Fool?

Opening the container, Jason leaned in beside Sean Knight to take a peek inside.

A huge waterproof cloth blocked their view.

"Bosuns, is there a car in there?"

Jason guessed.

"Hmm, I guess so too." Sean stepped forward and pulled off the waterproof cloth.

"Wow!" Looking at the car firmly secured inside the container, Jason couldn’t help but exclaim.

It was a futuristic sports car, somewhat similar to the concept cars Sean had seen in magazines and on television before.

The car sat there like a resting cheetah, ready to pounce on its prey at any moment!

The black and white exterior of the car didn’t feel abrupt at all, rather it made Sean think of Tai Chi, the concept of interdependence, and the inevitability of reversion.

The car’s emblem was a jaguar, which Sean didn’t pay much attention to.

Looking at the car, he had a feeling that it could probably take off or transform into a mecha as soon as he flipped a switch...

Okay, that was a bit childish.

He stepped forward and saw that the key was in the car door.

Opening the door and getting in, he started the car, and the seat automatically adjusted to fit his body.

A soft electronic voice began to speak:

"Please choose a language."

"Chinese," Sean instinctively replied.

"Confirmed." The electronic voice switched to a gentle Mandarin, not the stiff translation-like accent, but rather comfortable to listen to.

The electronic display began introducing the car’s user instructions to Sean.

It could be simplified or detailed.

After listening for a while, Sean learned how to operate the car, and that was enough for him.

However, he didn’t plan to drive it right away, so he searched the car for a while and found the paperwork.

He didn’t plan to sell the car; he wanted to keep it for himself.

Which young person hasn’t dreamt of having their own futuristic sports car?

At Jeremy Knight’s villa, there were only SUVs and sedans.

By the time Elson Johnson took over, he hadn’t had time to buy a sports car, and the money had been transferred who knows where.

So, Sean wanted to claim this sports car for himself now.

As long as the paperwork was in order, the rest would be easy.

Before he could settle in the car, Kathy Lewis rushed over impatiently.

"50 million dollars?" Sean laughed when he heard the price.

Either the other party had never seen a totem pole and didn’t know its size and weight, or they were taking advantage of his lack of expertise.

No matter how inexperienced, the size of the thing was obvious.

Sean’s high school physics and chemistry weren’t that bad; density multiplied by volume equals mass.

The density of gold is over nineteen, so considering the size of this thing as a cylinder, the volume equals the base area multiplied by the height.

By that calculation, this thing must weigh at least three or four tons.

The price of gold is now over 60 million dollars a ton, so three or four tons must be worth at least two hundred million dollars!

Offering 50 million?

Do they think he’s a fool?

Sean waved his hand and said:

"Tell them that the totem pole alone weighs three to four tons, and the price they’re offering is too low. I’ll only give them one more chance to make an offer, and then I’ll find someone else. There’s more than one Native American tribe left!"

After learning the other party’s "sincerity," Sean became more decisive.

He believed that if the other party was so quick and eager to quote a price, it meant that the value of the totem pole must be very high!

In that case, he had to let the other party know that he wasn’t the anxious one!

Kathy was also shocked by the weight of the totem pole!

As Sean said, if they really melted this thing down and sold it as gold, it would be worth much more than 50 million dollars!

She hadn’t expected young Mr. Knight to get his hands on something so big right off the bat!

These kind of items were quite sought-after in the Beautiful Country.

It’s ironic how they were once objects of slaughter and now fashionable – think of the names of weapons, some of which even became billionaires, and the ongoing policies of land reservation.

After Sean told Kathy to go back with the message, he continued to settle the cars.

A while later, Kathy came back and said to Sean:

"Mr. Knight, the other party wants to come and see the totem pole."

"That’s fine," Sean agreed very simply, "Contact me when they get to New York."

Kathy initially thought that Sean had always let her handle the communication because he lacked confidence and didn’t dare to face the situation, but now she realized she might have been overthinking it.

When Mr. Jeremy first came over and took over the villa to do his own business, he was much more generous than young Mr. Knight.

Mr. Jeremy didn’t even have this much courage back then!

Each generation is different!

Kathy sighed and went off to attend to her duties.

The other party arrived the next day, and Sean was already waiting for them at the freight yard.

He had specifically cleared an empty container to store the totem pole, and Jason and the others didn’t see what was inside.

However, Sean had Jason pick eight black men who would stand guard outside the container wearing work uniforms.

When they arrived, Sean led them to the container.

Looking from outside, he noticed that there were mainly two people on their side.

One was an old man in his late fifties, nearly sixty years old, and the other was a young man in his thirties.

Unlike what he had imagined Native Americans to be like, both of them were dressed as successful professionals. If it weren’t for their unique Native American features, Sean might have thought they were successful Wall Street businessmen.

The two stepped forward, and the young man extended his hand to Sean, saying:

"Hello, my name is Kiriayat Taylor, and this is my father, the current chief of the Tumiya Tribe, Pasamadi."

Sean heard the name Tumiya, although he wasn’t sure about the actual pronunciation of the word.

"Hello, my name is Sean Knight," Sean extended his hand and shook Kiriayat’s, "Nice to meet you."

"Is the relic... in there?" Kiriayat asked anxiously.

Sean could sense his apprehension.

Holy relic?

Sean nodded.

He half-turned and gestured:

"Please take a look."

Then he motioned for Jason and the others to watch from outside.

Kiriayat and his father had brought four bodyguards, who also stayed outside.

Sean thought they knew their manners quite well.

As they went inside the container, large cardboard boxes blocked the view from the outside.

There were several rechargeable LED lamps inside, and the totem pole was in there too. Sean led Kiriayat and his father inside, and they were both immediately astonished.

The thing was so big.

Made of pure gold!

Chief Pasamadi, who had maintained a stern face all along, showed an excited expression upon seeing the totem pole. He mumbled something in a language Sean couldn’t understand, and then he actually bowed down to the totem pole!

Kiriayat was a little embarrassed, but when his father urged him, he also bowed down.

After several bows, Pasamadi finally stood up, cautiously and timidly approached the totem pole, and gently touched it.

He then let out another excited scream!

It must have been the cool sensation of the totem pole that had overwhelmed him!
