Chapter 1431: Chapter 690: Dissolution and Joining_2

Since they could unearth a woolly rhinoceros here, Sean Knight naturally had no intention of leaving. In his eyes, this was far more important than mammoth ivory!

Viola chuckled and returned the phone call.

Actually, she wanted to go over and take a look. However, after thinking it through, she decided against it as Sean was not the type to boast, even if they found something.

But Viola was different; she felt this was something to talk about—see, we just got here and already found something!

After finishing the call, Viola even went out of her way to take a photo.

Since they had a digging permit, Sean didn’t stop her. Let her post it. Nowadays, isn’t that what everyone does online?

Viola not only sent the photo to her friends but also posted it on her social media platform.

At that time, on a coastline dozens of kilometers away, several people digging for mammoth tusks sprinted into the jungle.

On the beach, a mud-encrusted tusk lay discarded along with several tools.

A few uniformed individuals, carrying guns, chased after them, shouting loudly.

Unfortunately, the fleeing people knew the area well and soon disappeared. Eventually, the uniformed individuals had to stop, and when they turned back, they took the tools and the ivory.

In the jungle, Yenia watched the ivory being taken, her gaze filled with regret.

This single tusk was worth several thousand dollars—it was her own find!

According to the rules set by these temporary partners, if the find was a group effort, then everyone shared the proceeds from its sale.

If a member of the Diggers team found and excavated it on their own, the money from the sale, minus a small commission for the team, belonged to that individual!

For Sean, a few thousand dollars wasn’t much, but for Yenia, it was enough to cover a year’s expenses—why else would a girl in her twenties join the Diggers if not out of necessity?

But as she watched the ivory being carried away, all she could do was grit her teeth.

"It’s alright, once these people leave, we can dig again." A young man beside her patted Yenia on the shoulder and comforted her, "There’s plenty of ivory here. We should still be able to make a good haul before the end of the summer!"

He said these words, but Yenia did not reply.

After those people drove away, the Diggers emerged from the jungle one by one, some with tools ready to continue the search, and others looked around to see if they could retrieve their own tools.

Yenia didn’t move. To cradle that tusk, she had thrown her tools on the beach. Now both the tusk and the tools were gone.

Her phone rang. Yenia paused before taking out her mobile phone to check it.

Then she saw the message from Viola.

Thinking of that beautiful and lovely girl, Yenia smiled and opened the photo.

And then she saw that huge rhino horn!

That horn was indeed not small!

Yenia knew Viola was with a young Chinese tycoon—Yenia did not see it as disgraceful.

Just like in the 1980s, those young domestic women who had connections and got married to foreigners, then moved to developed Western countries, many of her friends actually envied them.

So, she thought Viola’s visit with the Chinese tycoon was purely recreational.

That’s why she had messaged Viola earlier to ask if they were coming over.

Only, she didn’t expect that right after Viola hung up, Yenia would find herself in a predicament.

Yenia thought for a moment, then sent a message to Viola:

"Be careful of patrol personnel. If they catch you, not only will your items be confiscated, you could also face a hefty fine and possible imprisonment!"

"No worries, we have a digging permit." Viola’s reply brightened Yenia’s eyes!

They naturally had no such permit.

Otherwise, they wouldn’t have been chased by those men.

But for the sake of wealth, they had to face these dangers—

This was usual for those digging for mammoth ivory in this area.

Yenia knew well that compared to ivory, woolly rhino horns were more precious and worth more money.

She suddenly felt an urge to meet up with Viola and seek help from that Chinese magnate.

Although her team had found several mammoth tusks this summer, besides the one just confiscated, the rest were unearthed in partnership with others.

All things considered, she could get about 10,000 US dollars.

That was pretty good.

While Yenia was thinking, the young man who had comforted her earlier came over with his tools and said to her:

"Yenia, since you lost your tools, why don’t we partner up? You find the spots, and we’ll dig together. We split the findings—how about it?"

"How about the split?" Yenia didn’t agree immediately but asked instead.

"You get three, I get seven," the young man Victor said with a smile, "After all, I have the tools, right?"

Yenia shook her head and replied, "No thanks, I’m not planning to dig anymore."

Having said that, she turned and walked towards another middle-aged man.

The middle-aged man still had his tools and was vigorously working on a large chunk of ice, trying to see if it concealed anything.

"Team Leader, I’ve lost my tools, and the season is almost over. I don’t want to dig anymore; I want to go home," Yenia stated directly, "Can you settle my accounts now?"

The middle-aged team leader paused his digging slightly, then continued while saying,

"The ivory we found has already been sent off, but the money hasn’t arrived yet. If you want your share, you’ll have to wait a while."
