Chapter 1310: Chapter 650: Murder Disguised as an Accident

The villa’s courtyard was large, and Sean Knight noticed that nearly twenty to thirty people had already arrived, not counting the bikini-clad Bunny Girls and the handsome men in vests and slacks who were already serving the guests. In total, there must have been over forty people.

And that was without counting those already inside the house.

Sean guessed that there must be around fifty to sixty people in the entire courtyard by now.

The more, the merrier.

Seeing Sean zoning out, Phil chuckled and raised his wine glass to him, saying,

"Mr. Mars, there are several wars going on right now. Given that your family is in the food business, you must have made quite a bit this year?"

The others, who had previously only seen Phil conversing with Sean, were unaware of what the Mars family did. Hearing Phil’s words, everyone suddenly realized.

International food prices were rising, making it a seller’s market for those with food supplies—many had made a fortune.

Although some people didn’t fully grasp this, they had more insight than the average American youth. As a result, they all understood that the Mars family had indeed made a killing.

Sean, using the alias ’Mars,’ had by then put down his dinner plate, clinked his wine glass with Phil’s, and said proudly,

"I don’t know how much, but it’s my father’s business. All I know is that after this harvesting season, I will have a new top-of-the-line supercar and a villa on Manhattan Island."

The people around showed their envious looks.

The girl who first clung to Sean’s arm was even happier — clearly, she believed she had truly hooked a golden bachelor.

Sean could tolerate the girl being so close to him partly because it was all part of the act and partly because, although she appeared quite bold, she was actually quite reserved. Sean guessed she was holding out for a better offer — she hadn’t set her bait because she hadn’t identified her target yet.

"Compared to you, I’m not doing nearly as well." Phil complimented Mars, simply to introduce his own topic, "My family has recently taken over a new business. The prospects are good, though it hasn’t been long, so not much has been earned."

Although he said it wasn’t much, the smug look on Phil’s face suggested otherwise.

Sean wondered what business currently had good prospects?

Suddenly, he realized and guessed,

"Weapons?"

Phil was surprised. He had intended to let others guess and then reveal it himself if they couldn’t. But Mars had just blurted it out. Impressed, he asked,

"Mars, how did you guess that?"

"Right now, besides weapons and food, what else makes the most money?" Sean asked knowingly, "Although my family wanted to get into weapons, we didn’t have the connections. It seems your family is quite capable."

"Thanks to Mr. Groove," Phil pointed at the villa, "Mr. Groove introduced us to the connections."

"I see," Sean’s face showed a flash of realization.

Several beautiful girls had joined their small circle, thus attracting some men over as well.

Like a siphon effect, more and more people gathered around, not all listening to their conversation but exchanging information in groups of threes and twos.

As the center of attention, Sean and Phil naturally drew the most interest, which made Sean a bit impatient—he wasn’t here to be a conversation piece, and if Groove found out, who knows if he would blow Sean’s cover!

Thus, Sean knew he needed to distance himself from this center.

He placed his wine glass on the waiter’s tray and then said to Phil,

"Sorry, I need to go to the restroom."

"I’ll come with you!" the girl exclaimed happily. Several girls had been making flirtatious gestures at Sean just now, a few of whom clearly had better poise and were more beautiful. This added to her sense of urgency.

Now that Sean was headed to the restroom, she wouldn’t miss this chance!

Sean was worried about not knowing where the restroom was. He nodded, and the girl took his arm and led him towards the villa.

At the entrance, two bodyguards stood with their arms crossed over their stomachs. Seeing them approach, they were about to speak when the girl preemptively said,

"We’re going to the restroom," tightening her grasp on Sean’s arm.

One of the bodyguards understood immediately, showing an ambiguous smile, then stepped aside.

The other bodyguard hesitated but ultimately did not stop them.

The two entered the house, and the girl skillfully led Sean to a restroom on the first floor—clearly, she was quite familiar with the place.

Guessing Sean’s thoughts, the girl said while walking,

"I’ve been here a few times. Sharlie, Mr. Groove’s sister, and I are classmates."

Several men were sitting on the sofa in the main hall chatting. Sean glanced around, not noticing Groove.

Upon reaching the restroom, the girl didn’t let go and pulled Sean inside.

Sean was surprised—did this girl really intend to go in with him?

But soon, he had no time to worry about that—Groove was currently in the restroom.

"Someone’s inside; let’s wait here for a bit," Sean said, holding the girl back outside the restroom.

The girl nodded slightly, looked up at Sean, and suddenly boldly reached up to hook her arms around Sean’s neck, lifting her toes and planting a kiss on his lips.

Sean hadn’t expected the girl to be so bold. He had intended to reject her, but with Groove right there in the restroom, he couldn’t easily refuse, so he decided to play along.
