Chapter 1295: Chapter 645 Some People Have Gone Mad!
"Sean, only three-fourths of those items were sold, some people didn’t want us to ship them out. As soon as they found out, they immediately started tracking them down, and about tens of hackers are looking for their whereabouts. Two platforms have been tipped over."
What surprised Sean was that Robert was actually speaking Chinese.
Chinese can be broad and profound, and unless you specifically connect it to the context, you can’t guess the correct meaning!
Three-fourths, that’s 15 billion dollars. After deducting the procedures, it was almost 10 billion dollars.
Was this the biggest windfall in Sean’s history of earning money?
"There aren’t any tails now, are there?" Sean asked in Chinese as well, "Any trouble?"
"No troubles in that regard. Whatever appears still exists in the form of goods. As long as they are in the warehouse, they are safe. I check daily, roughly for about one week." Robert, seeing Sean wasn’t angry, felt relieved and continued:
"The remaining one fourth has been investigated, and it’s highly likely that we won’t get it back. How about this, I’ll only take a 20% cut."
"Let’s stick to the rules," Sean said, unwilling to let Robert bear the loss. For a moment, he had doubted whether Robert was deceiving him and had pocketed the rest of the money.
However, in the end, he didn’t think that was the case.
After working with Robert for so long, he felt confident in his judgment of character.
He was a tough guy, but not an especially selfish one.
"Sean, thank you for trusting me. I’ll take only a 20% cut—after all, not everyone can just hand over those goods to someone else. Alright, I am quite busy over here. I know you are coming over soon, let’s talk when you arrive."
After the call, Sean let out a sigh of relief.
The foodstuff was secondary; the main thing was the 10 billion dollars. Although it wouldn’t cripple a group, it was at least going to cause them discomfort for a while, right?
Having set his mind at ease, Sean peacefully fell asleep.
When he awoke, Sean turned on his mobile phone and found a heap of messages.
First were a series of payment receipts. Roughly calculating, his account had increased by over 4 billion dollars just overnight.
Then there were messages from the bank, mostly greetings and inquiries about wealth management services.
No phone calls; they probably didn’t want to annoy Sean or disturb him.
There were also a few messages from Elijah and the others, starting with them having caught someone, then having extracted the information to finally asking how to deal with Wendell’s associate, Henry Burke, and then they were back.
Next, Sean checked and saw a message from Cold Ice; she was awake and had sent her regards to Sean.
Lana also sent a message, asking how things were going here.
Sean first made a phone call to Lana, told her the situation here, instructed her to build a warehouse over there, and said that more food would need to be shipped later.
After ending the call, Sean dressed and left the house.
It was already daylight outside. Inside the courtyard, people were bustling about. His room was on the second floor, from where he saw Lincoln by the off-road vehicle, watching Rainee Thomson clean the car.
Yesterday, Rainee had participated in a covert mission with them and had passed the test, becoming one of their own.
Sean thought for a moment, then phoned Elijah to come over.
Upon arriving, Elijah immediately reported the situation.
"Actually, the situation is quite simple. These two individuals felt psychologically imbalanced, thinking you, the boss, didn’t do anything but could earn tens of millions of dollars during a food season, while they could only get tens of thousands in salary. That’s why they did what they did."
"If they act like thieves, they must be prepared to face the consequences," Sean stated. "Collect all their documents and hand them over to the locals, let them work here for a lifetime—in the furthest place possible."
He had no intention of letting these two go free. To be honest, the treatment they had been given was already very generous, but if they were too greedy, then they couldn’t blame him for being unkind.
"Not kill them?" Elijah looked surprised.
"This matter is quite secretive, so it doesn’t serve to warn others by making an example out of them," Sean explained. "Killing them would be letting them off easy. Make them work for a lifetime—such people don’t have the courage to kill themselves, but toiling daily, managed by locals—if they disobey, beat them. This torment is more uncomfortable than killing them."
Elijah completely agreed.
After resolving the issue with Henry Burke and Wendell, Elijah left to handle it, and Sean returned to his room.
After giving it some thought, no, he decided to go see Cold Ice.
After previously sending Cold Ice back and having a doctor check her, there were no serious issues—mainly just weakened from being controlled for a long time; some rest was all she needed.
Sean had transferred some vital energy to her, helping the girl’s body to hold on.
This incident took Sean by surprise. He had expected Wendell and Henry, who he thought would never betray him, to be loyal, and yet, Cold Ice, who had a prior record and was most likely to turn, ended up remaining faithful.
The human heart is truly unfathomable.
Initially, Sean had planned to just check on Cold Ice and then leave—considering what she had been through, and how weak she was now, it was likely she would be asleep.
But to his surprise, upon arriving at Cold Ice’s room, he discovered she was awake.
Cold Ice curled up in a corner of the sofa, covered with a thin carpet, lost in thought.
This was what he saw through Sky Eye.
Sean thought for a moment, then knocked on the door.
"Come in," Cold Ice, hearing the knock, lifted her head.
Sean walked in and, seeing the half-eaten dishes on the tea table, asked:
"Not hungry?"
