Chapter 1290: Chapter 643: Someone Has Defected!_2

If you opened the warehouse’s front gate, it would seem as though the food was stacked high, but if you really walked inside, you’d realize it was empty!

The food had already been transported away!

"Boss, could something have happened?" Seeing something amiss with Sean Knight, Lincoln Harrington asked.

"Let’s circle around and come back later tonight," Sean Knight thought for a moment before saying, "By then, either here or in the small town, we’ll try to find someone familiar and inquire about the situation."

What Sean Knight wasn’t clear about was whether someone here had done this or if everyone here was involved.

"Boss, if something’s wrong, I suggest we just ask our security personnel," Douglas Cooper spoke up, "Even if those professional managers might betray us, it’s unlikely that all the security personnel are compromised."

"Yeah, Boss," Elijah Hastings added, "The team members’ families are all back home, we all know that. If those people really wanted to cause trouble, they couldn’t possibly have bought off everyone."

Sean Knight slapped his forehead, agreeing.

He had suspected everyone because he was too angry about the incident.

But in fact, for such a thing to happen, as long as the senior management were in cahoots, they could easily deceive those at the lower levels.

Moreover, the security personnel’s main mission was to handle public security cases, not to manage the farmland and food.

So the root of the problem should still lie with the management staff.

It seemed that the professional managers he had hired had some issues.

Henry Burke, Wendell Martin, and Cold Ice.

Cold Ice used to work for the Chrysanthemum Agency, but she stayed because she feared retaliation after her mission failed due to Sean Knight’s early discovery.

Because her subsequent actions were deemed to make amends, Sean Knight had agreed to let her stay.

Now, she was the first person Sean Knight suspected.

However, both Henry Burke and Wendell Martin couldn’t be ruled out of suspicion.

Of course, there was also Mary Powell.

Sean Knight thought that as long as he could catch any one of these four people, he would be able to clarify the situation.

"Boss, I saw Rainee Thomson," Lincoln Harrington suddenly shouted.

"Rainee Thomson?" Sean Knight felt that name was somewhat familiar.

"A security captain," Lincoln Harrington said, "who once made great contributions in quelling the riot by the locals!"

"Then get in touch with him," said Sean Knight, "At least he should know the overall situation."

Lincoln Harrington took out his mobile phone and called Rainee Thomson.

Rainee Thomson was on his day off, planning to shop in the small town and send some things back home.

The mobile phone rang, and upon seeing the caller ID, his expression changed. He looked around and answered the call.

"Rainee Thomson, this is Lincoln Harrington," Lincoln Harrington said, "Pretend you’re busy and excuse yourself from the people next to you, then head towards the edge of the small town. An off-road vehicle will pull up next to you; get in."

"Received," Rainee Thomson put away his phone, and then said to two colleagues nearby, "You guys go ahead, I just remembered I need to buy something else."

After the colleagues left, Rainee Thomson walked towards the edge of the small town.

In a moment, the black car slowed down next to him, and when the car door opened, Rainee Thomson quickly jumped in.

The car accelerated away.

"Boss? Mr. Hastings? Mr. Harrington? Mr. Cooper? What are you doing here? Why didn’t you give a heads-up?" Rainee Thomson wasn’t expecting to see four people in the car and greeted them immediately, quite surprised.

"We received intelligence that something had happened here. We want to understand the situation," Lincoln Harrington, sitting next to Rainee Thomson, said:

"Has anything unusual been going on in the courtyard lately?"

"No," Rainee Thomson thought for a moment and said, "Everything’s been very quiet. All the fields have been sown with new seed, and the hired local workers are all very diligent."

The group exchanged looks, and Sean Knight, after thinking, said:

"What have Henry Burke, Wendell Martin, Cold Ice, and Mary Powell been up to recently?"

"Translator Powell went to the neighboring city to buy farmland," Rainee Thomson said, "As soon as the harvest was done, the farm’s management gave him a sum of money to purchase a new batch of farmland over there, saying it was your decision, Boss."

Sean Knight’s face changed, for he had never made such a decision!

But he didn’t speak up; instead, he waited for Rainee Thomson to continue.

"We’ve seen Manager Cold Ice a few times when the harvest was good. She was in charge of the food storage registration at that time. After that, we saw less of her, nearly a month has gone by without seeing her at all.

We found it odd, asked Manager White about it, and he said she was feeling unwell and went to Rio de Janeiro for treatment. As for when she left, we’re not sure."

Sean Knight’s face grew even darker.

If Cold Ice was no longer there, then it was highly likely that she had fled out of guilt!

But his mind quickly shifted, and he considered the possibility that she might be under control or had been killed!

Unless Henry Burke and Cold Ice were in cahoots, her departure wouldn’t have gone unnoticed by the others—and selling off the food, she couldn’t have managed that alone unless she arranged for the other two to be absent!

"Manager White and Manager Martin have been seen frequently as of late. However, two days ago, Manager Martin left the courtyard, saying he had some business at the Port, like buying supplies or something," Rainee Thomson said.

"So, you’re saying that now only Manager White is left in the courtyard?" Lincoln Harrington asked.

"That should be the case," Rainee Thomson said, "When Manager Martin left, Manager White was at the Entrance of the Courtyard seeing him off."

"Do you know about the food being transported out of the warehouse?" Sean Knight suddenly asked.
