Chapter 1280: Chapter 640: Unknowingly Became a Towering Tree!
Chen Yishun knew Sean Knight’s negotiation bottom line and made a phone call to his superiors, those officials, to report the situation.
He didn’t leave either, he stayed on the island, where according to him, he owned a house but had never had the time to stay there. Now was the perfect opportunity to take a good rest there.
At least he didn’t have to worry about safety there, nor about being framed by anyone.
Sean Knight didn’t quite understand the mentality of the Chinese heritage people, or perhaps, the mainland region of China had undergone such rapid developments and changes that since Sean and his group could remember, they hadn’t been through much hardship, making it hard for them to understand the shifts in the thinking of the overseas, middle-aged Chinese.
Once Chen Yishun had left, Lana Brown and Sean Knight returned to where they were staying, and she immediately had her assistant compile data on the distribution of people buying houses on Big Island.
In just 10 minutes, the assistant delivered the data.
Lana Brown looked it over and then said to Sean Knight,
"Currently, there are over 10,000 people who have bought houses here, 60 percent of whom are from the domestic area, 30 percent are local Indonesians of Chinese heritage, and the remaining 10 percent are from other countries - 99 percent of all these people are of Chinese descent."
"It seems that quite a lot of people are interested in buying houses on our island."
Over 10,000 people, if assuming one house per family, that would mean well over 30,000 to 40,000 people.
Of course, Sean guessed that at least 80 percent of them were primarily interested in investment or short-term residency purposes.
Even so, it was quite alarming.
"Most of the houses and villas that are currently built on the island have sold out; there are still over 20,000 people who have registered an interest in purchasing," Lana Brown, after seeing this, looked up at Sean and asked, "Dear, should we consider presales?"
"No need," Sean Knight shook his head, "If we want to develop more houses, we just need to find more construction companies in the mainland region. There are many provincial level companies there, we can start development simultaneously."
"Okay," Lana Brown nodded, then asked,
"What do you want for lunch?"
"Let’s go check out the seaside," Sean Knight hadn’t been to Big Island for a long time, and he wanted to see what it was like now.
"Our private sandy beach, or the public area?" though Lana Brown hadn’t spent a long time with Sean, she knew he liked to go to the seaside to go fishing and pick up shells, so she directly asked about the beach.
"Let’s first go check out the public area." Sean Knight didn’t particularly like lively places, but he wanted to find out the current situation with the tourists on the island.
Hearing this, Lana Brown’s assistant immediately went out to make a phone call to have a car prepared.
Three electric motor cars quickly headed to the closest sandy beach.
"Because the tourists liked it too, so we have converted many of the rocky shorelines into sandy beaches," said Lana Brown. "Then we introduced some amusement activities in the sandy beach area, along with yacht rentals, dining projects, so now the number of tourists is several times more than before."
The closer they got to the sandy beach, the more they could hear the tourists’ voices.
By the time they reached the sandy beach, Sean Knight could already see a large expanse of sand, where hundreds of tourists were playing.
Not too crowded.
"This is with the tourists’ number being controlled," said Lana Brown. "Creating a packed, seething crowd can make people anxious and spoil the fun. Therefore, we control the flow of people on each sandy beach. It’s good that we have many attractions on Big Island, so after we distribute the crowd, it doesn’t seem so crowded everywhere."
"Not bad," Sean Knight nodded in approval.
He could also see in the distance, a sprinkle of large and small yachts shuttling back and forth, from time to time the sounds of men and women came over the Sea Surface.
Sean originally just wanted to have a look, but finding the people on the sandy beach so leisurely, genuinely on vacation, with children playing with the sand, picking up shells, adults sunbathing, and surfing, he simply walked over, took off his shoes, and strolled on the sandy beach, occasionally bending down to pick up a seashell or conch washed up by the seawater.
Lana Brown accompanied Sean at the Seaside, feeling an unparalleled peace and relaxation, while blowing in the sea breeze.
She knew that Sean couldn’t stay here long each time, so she especially treasured this moment.
The assistant quietly followed, recording this beautiful time with a mobile phone.
A few plainclothes security personnel were scattered around, disguised as tourists.
"Do you want to go around the Sea Surface? The yachts over there are all ours," said Lana Brown, seeing that Sean occasionally glanced at the sea, she came over and looped her arm through his and asked.
"Let’s go, it would be nice to take a spin," Sean turned his head and glanced at the newly built pier at the end of the sandy beach, where several yachts of various sizes were docked.
He thought back to the days when he had escaped along the coastline on a speedboat not long ago.
That time was about fleeing for his life; now, however, it was about carefree enjoyment.
Life is so wonderful.
The two boarded the yacht, and to Sean’s surprise, the beautiful assistant turned out to be skilled at piloting the yacht, while the two security personnel sat at the front and the back of the yacht, vigilantly surveying the surroundings.
"There’s no way around it," Lana Brown began explaining proactively, "on the island, too many people recognize my face, so when I go out, I either have to wear makeup or bring people along. Otherwise..."
Sean understood. Big Island was indeed safe, mainly in terms of everyday security. However, if someone were to disguise themselves as a tourist to come and assassinate, that would indeed be difficult to guard against.
He gently wrapped his arms around Lana Brown, and while looking at the sea, he said,
"You have worked hard."
Lana Brown said nothing, snuggling into Sean’s embrace, silently feeling Sean’s heartbeat. At that moment, she felt an immense sense of happiness.
