Chapter 1203: 614 Chapter Good items gone!

Sean Knight was not surprised by Henija’s statement. If the envoy had come to see him, it must have been for a reason.

Earlier, Sean Knight had also analyzed and speculated about what specifically it might be.

However, upon reflection, he did not come to a clear conclusion and was uncertain.

After all, Afghanistan was now at peace, and the government claimed to be committed to construction and improving the lives of the common people.

After the Americans left, no other country dared to interfere there, so there were many partners available for construction cooperation.

Thinking back to when the ruling organization first took power, they brought 100 tons of pine nuts to China to sell. Our common people were very receptive, buying up the 100 tons of pine nuts without hesitation as soon as they hit the shelves, leaving the person in charge from the other side unable to react.

In their view, the 100 tons, given their underdeveloped situation and the pure manual labor involved, should have taken days to sell at least.

Then they understood the purchasing power and market dynamics of the Chinese common people.

There wasn’t much else afterward. The country’s resources were quite limited, and it wouldn’t make sense to expect sales from selling mud or the like; we didn’t want old AKs either.

It was Sean Knight who had intervened, helping to solve some of the living difficulties for certain tribes in Afghanistan.

After all, the nations surrounding Afghanistan were not all at peace and harbored unspeakable tensions with each other. Moreover, these countries were not wealthy.

Engrossed in their troubles, how could they possibly take care of you?

But the organization in power in Afghanistan was somewhat arrogant and stubborn. They knew certain ideologies were problematic, yet still made grand announcements about them.

This made it difficult for some countries to support them openly.

So it was quite awkward.

Sean Knight was puzzled by Henija’s intentions. If you came to see my investment, my operations here are legitimate and legal; any issues, talk to Hassan Bager.

Sean Knight knew that usually if the local tribes didn’t object, the ruling organization would not oppose either. After all, that organization was somewhat like the official American government, comprised of many smaller tribes (allies).

Each state even had its own laws.

Henija had something to say, and Sean Knight was all ears.

"I hope Mr. Knight can invest in building some factories near Kabul—I have a list here." Henija took out a piece of paper; he spoke English well enough that at least Sean Knight could understand him without a translator.

The paper was unusually written in Chinese, which was somewhat interesting.

Sean Knight took it and glanced over.

As expected, it was a list of mostly light industrial factories. In China, such factories had rolled out to the point of saturation. To be honest, if Sean Knight took the money, he wouldn’t even bother going to those coastal areas; he could sweep through Xinjiang and easily amass a collection of large, medium, and small-sized factories.

Given the current economic downturn, cash was king. Factories were struggling to stay open, and everyone wanted to have money in hand, which gave them a bit more backbone.

The list included a total of eight factories. Sean Knight looked it over and said,

"Some factories can be built, like this cement factory. Large, medium, or small are all possible, though choosing a location might be tricky. But some factories are more problematic, like this electric tricycle factory. Some parts will need to be purchased from China, as they can’t be locally produced. This involves a series of supporting enterprises; it’s not something one factory can handle."

Sean Knight was telling the truth. In Henija’s eyes, these items could all be produced in one factory. But even in China, very few factories produced electric tricycles directly. Of course, large factories could, but small factories usually just assembled them. After all, battery packs are rarely produced in-house, as they are typically purchased.

Henija didn’t understand, but he was receptive.

He thought for a moment and said,

"Then we’ll set up an assembly plant, but you’ll be responsible for procuring the necessary parts."

Sean Knight nodded; that was not a problem.

The rest, such as the cotton spinning and agricultural machinery factories, were all factories geared toward civil use. It seemed that the organization was indeed planning to start with industrialization, even if it was from light industry.

"So, what’s in it for me?" Sean Knight asked after finishing reading. Building these factories was not much of a challenge. And should he really look for them domestically, likely, a large number of machinery manufacturers would come to him, promoting their products.

"We still have a collection of cultural relics," said Henija, "We can give you a batch. Also, if you want to invest in the mineral resources nearby, we can give you the green light."

Cultural relics?

Now that gets me wide awake!

Sean Knight suddenly became interested.

But then, looking at Henija’s semi-new clothes and thinking about the old AKs the organization used, Sean Knight came back to his senses.

These cultural relics were probably made of copper, stone, or even wood, right?

Given the organization’s current state, if they had even a trace of precious metals, wouldn’t they have already exchanged them for supplies?

However, considering the area had been ruled by the Green Sect for many years, Sean Knight felt a surge of interest again and said,

"I need to see those cultural relics first. Also, I do indeed need to start another mine here. Building so many factories requires more than just funds."

Cultural relics not worth money or of higher cultural than market value were not of much use to him. The main reason he wanted to look was to see if they contained energy—the adhesive power of the Green Sect, which merged religion and ethnic customs, was very strong.

So if there were cultural relics containing vast energy, Sean Knight thought it might be worth investing after all.
