Chapter 1187: Chapter 608: Did Humans Really Make This?_3
Everyone had their assignments and actions were taken swiftly.
Cheryl Suweton went to the Campground, and although James had been frowning earlier, his face immediately lit up with a smile when Cheryl arrived:
"Miss Suweton, the meeting is about to begin, we’re just waiting for you."
Cheryl didn’t mind his change in demeanor and said:
"Perfect, I have something to say to everyone as well, let’s go."
Inside the Camp, there was a large tent, designated for holding meetings and discussions. The table inside was laden with various tools for the investigation. Everyone sat around the table in a disorderly fashion, but all were present, truly waiting for Cheryl.
Once Cheryl found a place to sit, James cleared his throat and began:
"Today our investigation officially starts. I have here a Map and video documents, and our investigation will start from here.
Everyone has already seen the video and knows that there is something underwater, and it’s clear—it’s manmade architecture. This is definitely something that has never been discovered before, so there must be many significant discoveries awaiting us below.
Sites like this are not encountered every day. Our actions will definitely go down in history, celebrated far and wide by people, and may even be included in textbooks..."
There’s no denying it, James was quite persuasive. With this high-end rhetoric, he had everyone apart from Cheryl feeling buoyant, almost ready to dive into the lake immediately to find the Ruins.
Only afterwards did James clarify the diving spot, personnel assignments, and the rotation of the groups and the like.
Once these details were aired, they were essentially settled. No one had any objections.
Then James was about to announce the end of the meeting so everyone could prepare on their own.
Seeing this, Cheryl immediately raised her voice and called out:
"Please wait, everyone!"
Several people in the Research Team were aware of Cheryl’s Identity, and she was not arrogant or used her status to press others down.
So, for beautiful Cheryl, everyone held a measure of respect.
Hearing her request to wait, the others stopped.
"Miss Suweton, is there something you wish to say?" It was then James remembered that Cheryl had mentioned earlier she had something to talk about. He regretted that he got carried away and forgot about it!
"That’s the situation." Cheryl knew she couldn’t keep the Camp’s activities secret, so she spoke openly: "My boyfriend is also an adventure Expert.
He said he went to the Lakeside and saw huge Black shadows in the Lake, possibly aquatic creatures like sharks. So we must be careful when we dive—we better take precautions and carry the appropriate Weapons..."
When they heard there was danger, people hesitated.
Seeing the morale he had just built up beginning to waver, James, not caring that Cheryl was the woman he adored, said out loud:
"How is that possible? Although Lake Baikal houses sharks, that’s in the deep water area. The Lakeside is only a dozen meters deep; how could there be any? Besides, while I don’t deny that your boyfriend did indeed go to the Lakeside last night, it was already dark. How could he possibly have seen anything in the water?"
Cheryl was stumped; she didn’t know how Sean Knight had seen it.
Could it be that Sean Knight had Night vision devices?
Just as she thought of this excuse, someone came over to report:
"The People in the Camp over there have already gone down to the Lakeside, looking like they’re getting ready to dive."
Upon hearing this, James immediately realized what was happening and angrily said to Cheryl:
"The so-called shark is just an excuse! He’s just looking for an excuse to make us hesitate, so they can dive first and find the Underwater items..."
"But Mr. James," the staff reporter continued, "the spot where they are diving is nearly one kilometer away from our intended diving spot."
"The waters are connected, you fool!" James exploded with a curse, "Stop overthinking! If we’re late to dive, someone else will be credited as the discoverers of the Underwater Ruins. Let’s go!"
The others, who were initially hesitant, were quickly persuaded by James’s explanations and hurried out to prepare.
Cheryl stood in the tent, pondering over James’s words. She thought, was that really the case?
Immediately she shook her head firmly:
"Absolutely not! There must be something Underwater!"
She also stood up, determined to dive into the water herself and produce evidence to prove that Sean Knight was not wrong!
Having been in a relationship for so long, though the time they had seen each other was intermittent, Cheryl knew that Sean Knight would never lie to her or resort to such low tactics!
Cheryl hurriedly caught up with the Team preparing to dive into the lake and then glanced around, spotting Sean Knight and his group on the far Lakeside.
One kilometer away, although the Lakeside was almost a straight line without visual obstructions, from Cheryl’s side, it was almost just a blur.
Moreover, Cheryl had the best vision among them. After all, she had been in contact with Sean Knight and absorbing Energy.
The others could only see vague human figures.
Without looking carefully, they could see nothing.
On this side, James was hastily arranging the dive. He was genuinely fearful that Sean Knight and his group would snatch away the discovery of the Ruins.
He already regretted not allowing Sean Knight into the Campground.
At that time, when Cheryl suggested calling her friends over, he had agreed. However, upon seeing Sean Knight and his group’s arrival and the number of people they brought, James worried that they would turn the tables—after all, at first glance, their combat strength was not low!
But now it seemed that keeping Sean Knight and his group out of the Campground was a bad idea—they were completely outside his control!
However, it was too late for regrets. The only thing comforting James was that he had a Specific Map and video in hand, while Sean Knight and his group were unlikely to find the Ruins before him in the vast expanse of the lake.
After all, being one kilometer away meant a much larger search area!
By the time they swam over, James’s side might have already started the salvage work!
These were James’s true thoughts.
Then he jumped into the Water along with the others—he wanted to be the first person to discover the Ruins!
Underwater, not far from here, a shadow passed through the water again...
