Chapter 1167: 602

Sean Knight arrived at the Police Station, saying he wanted to see Paul Walker, but the female police officer at reception told him to wait and that Paul was busy at the moment.

The attractive, flirty policewoman in the short skirt had merely fobbed Sean off with a cursory remark and then continued flirting with a young man in plain clothes. Sean knew if he really waited, he wouldn’t know how long it would take—it could be a very long time.

He made a phone call to Paul.

"Sean? Long time no see! I heard from John that you’ve become a billionaire. When are you coming back to check out your freight yard?"

"I’m right outside your police station now," Sean said.

"Why don’t you come in?" Paul’s voice was filled with surprise, "It’s been...almost a year since we last met, hasn’t it?"

"Because your pretty policewoman at the entrance told me to wait," Sean said, glancing at the female officer.

"You mean Mary Edwards, right?" Paul laughed. "She’s the happy pill of our police station—oh, to be honest, she’s my boss’s niece—okay, I’ll give her a call right now."

Sean hung up his mobile phone, and then the phone in front of the female officer rang.

After listening for a moment, the policewoman’s expression changed slightly, and she stood up and said to Sean with a forced smile:

"Sir, the Director invites you to his office. Do you know the location? Come, let me take you there..."

Sean nodded.

Upon entering Paul’s office, the female officer even poured Sean a cup of coffee with undue diligence.

"Sean, it’s been a while!" Paul said, standing up and embracing Sean, "You should have called in advance."

"I just came from Mr. John’s," Sean replied. "This time, I’m free, so I came to see an old friend."

"Mary," Paul told the female officer standing by, "inform everyone that I’m busy. Unless someone bombs the Police Station, don’t bother me."

The female officer acknowledged with a word and left after giving Sean a look.

Sean sat on the sofa, surveying Paul’s office as Director, and commented:

"Not much has changed here."

Paul sat down, smiling, and replied:

"What can change? I don’t want any changes."

"Oh, by the way, thanks for taking care of my freight yard," Sean said, as if performing a magic trick, pulling a thick stack of dollar cash from his pocket and placing it on Paul’s table. "This is a small gift from me."

"Sean, we don’t need this between us, do we?" Paul’s face changed as he said, "Aren’t we friends?"

"We are friends, that’s why I’m being so upfront," Sean said earnestly. "If it were just you, I might have invited you for a drink at Mr. John’s, and that would be that. But you have so many subordinates, and then there are people like Mary Edwards who are planted here by others... Take it, it’s for helping me out; I can’t expect you to pay out of your own pocket."

Paul fell silent for a moment, then stashed the money in his drawer.

"What I just gave was a token of my thanks, now this next thing is a gift for you. I’ve been to a few places recently, found some treasures. Take this," Sean said, taking out a small bag of gemstones from his pocket. "They’re roughly processed, but the quality is good. If you find a nice girl, make some jewelry for her."

Paul, who now had an eye for value, could see that the bag of gemstones Sean put down contained some that were at least several carats large, worth several hundred thousand dollars without a doubt.

Although they were roughly processed and looked less refined, their value was definitely high!

He wanted to refuse, but seeing Sean’s sincere gaze, he couldn’t utter the words.

He had been privately complaining that ever since Sean had made his fortune, he had become less sociable. But he never imagined that when Sean finally did reach out, it would exceed his entire worth!

"Actually, your subordinate, Jason Caldwell, also gives me 10,000 dollars every month."

"That’s only right," Sean replied, although unaware of it, did not mind it either. He hadn’t realized Jason was quite adaptable. "I also know there have been some troubles with the freight yard recently..."

"Yes," Paul, as the Police Station Director, naturally knew more, "Your guy Jason has quite a few tricks up his sleeve, and Little Black and his group are pretty united. They make a good amount each month, and it’s got quite a few people envious. Those Latino Americans have made a few moves but were driven off by Jason’s men.

Based on the intelligence I’ve received, they might be planning a bigger attack in some time—they’ve got some weapons."

Sean nodded, showing that he understood, then leaned forward, closer to Paul, and said:

"What if, I mean if one day, those Latino Americans suddenly get attacked at night, almost completely wiped out? What would you guys do here?"

Paul’s eyes widened as he looked at Sean, seemingly unable to believe that this was the same Sean Knight who had previously seemed quite sharp but always reasonably law-abiding.

However, seeing Sean waiting expectantly for an answer, still smiling, Paul realized it wasn’t a joke. He thought for a moment and then said:

"Such an incident... The Latino Americans are in a remote location. As long as it’s done cleanly, it’ll eventually be deemed as gang conflict and probably dismissed. After all, gang vendettas are too common."

"I understand," Sean smiled. "The thing should happen in the next two days. By the way, do you have any precise intelligence here? Don’t worry, I’ll tell Jason to remind his guys to follow the rules in the future. If no one oversteps, they should conduct their legitimate business quietly here. If there’s any intelligence, we’ll let you know in a timely manner."
