Chapter 1142: Chapter 593: Amazon Is Not That Simple!_3
Sean Knight felt an unprecedented sense of a woman’s madness.
Of course, what intrigued him more was the sacred tree root in the tribe.
According to Ava’s explanation, the entire sacred tree was dug up that year and cut into several sections.
The tribe that Sean Knight was going to had taken away the root of the sacred tree, along with the thickest section, which was more than two meters long.
Because of the presence of the root, although it was replanted, it did not grow back into the towering tree as imagined.
But it was covered in dense branches and leaves, which was sufficient to meet Sean Knight’s needs.
After all, in Ava’s eyes, Sean Knight, no matter how powerful, could at most take away a bundle of tree branches.
Before leaving, Ava told Sean Knight all about the things in the tribe.
The ancient city they were in once boasted a glorious civilization.
There were many gold offerings and jade products years ago.
Now they have been cleaned up and piled up in a stone house in the northwest corner of the ancient city.
Since they can neither be used as weapons nor as tools, these items were of no use to the women in the tribe.
Although Ava knew that these things could be exchanged for a lot of supplies outside, she had already decided to continue living according to the tribe’s habits, so these items had lost their original purpose.
Ava said that if Sean Knight brought back the branches, he could deal with those gold products in the tribe as he saw fit.
Of course, if Sean Knight went to that tribe, it would be best to chop off all the branches growing on that sacred tree.
Ava had great confidence in Sean Knight.
When Sean Knight left, he specifically visited the stone house where Ava’s ’Paper’ was, and indeed he found many gold and jade items hidden inside.
It was at least five or six times what they had found in the cannibal village they had previously taken over!
Ava had actually wanted Sean Knight to stay in the tribe for another two days,
after all, one day was not safe enough.
But Sean Knight refused.
This matter was a bit awkward.
With a clear goal and no one around to affect his performance, Sean Knight moved quickly and found the tribe mentioned by Ava within two days.
Although he was mentally prepared, Sean Knight was still surprised when he saw the ancient city ruins occupied by this tribe.
The ancient city ruins where Ava lived were already very exquisite and well-preserved.
Now, the ruins here were even more complete, larger in area, and richer in architecture!
Not only were the ruins of the ancient city, but many things here were larger—for instance, the bananas on the trees were twice the size of regular ones!
The wild sugarcane was as thick as an arm, and the snails crawling on the ground were as big as fists!
Occasionally, one could see butterflies the size of a palm flying through the bushes!
What was strange was the trees here, whose trunks were very thick; the ones that could be embraced were considered small, while the average ones would take three to five people to gather around, and Sean Knight saw one that was at least five meters in diameter—but these trees, though thick, were not very tall, about twenty meters was the norm, and there were no taller trees.
The tribe was also lively; Sean Knight snuck around the periphery and found that there were at least four to five hundred people living in the tribe.
Indeed, there were men, women, old, and young, and they occupied the entire center of the ancient city—the city was roughly the size of four football fields, with all kinds of buildings, mostly wrapped in green vines and plants.
The residents of the tribe lived in concentric circles from the center of the ancient city, with plenty of garbage thrown around the peripheral buildings.
Sean Knight had arrived here in the morning, and he saw at least seven groups of Tribal Warriors dispersing from the Ancient City into the jungle.
Watching these people armed with bows, arrows, javelins, and other weapons, Sean surmised they must be going hunting.
Then there were women, carrying baskets and accompanied by little girls, heading out to pick fruit.
The tribe also had a training field, where teenagers were undergoing training.
In a depression, Sean noticed discarded bones and several jungle felines gnawing on them.
Ava was right, these folks indeed practiced cannibalism—some of the bones here were definitely human bones.
Sean sneaked in and out of the Ancient City and quickly discovered that a few captives from other tribes were being held in a stone house—likely destined to be eaten.
Sean did not release them, guessing that such tribal conflicts were probably normal.
The Ancient City had a colossal Divine Temple at its center—twice as large as the one in Ava’s Ancient City.
However, this tribe had fewer warriors compared to Ava’s, and judging by the training level of the warriors, their average skill was inferior.
But their numbers were about double.
These stats were merely fleeting thoughts in Sean’s mind, as his attention quickly shifted to the stump of the Sacred Tree.
It was missing from the temple.
This surprised Sean. Wasn’t this thing very precious? Why wasn’t it kept inside the Divine Temple?
There was a priest inside the temple, though—an old man who looked quite aged.
In his hand, he held a wooden scepter brimming with a strong vitality, and at the top was inlaid—Damn it!
Sean saw that the ornament on the top was actually a fist-sized heart of the tree!
To Sean, this thing stood out like a spotlight bulb—its vitality almost seemed to be leaking out!
No wonder the old man, despite appearing to be in his late seventies or eighties, still moved with such agility!
Most elderly in the tropical rainforest who lived to sixty were considered to have reached their time.
That this man had lived so long was definitely linked to the Sacred Tree!
Sean paid no further mind to the old priest since he wasn’t as pleasing to look at as Ava, and he immediately resumed his search for the Sacred Tree, using the thick trees and plants for cover.
After all, that was his primary mission for coming here.
After circling the entire Ancient City, it was only at a stone, roofless courtyard near the periphery of the residential area to the east that he spotted the Sacred Tree.
Truthfully, it looked nothing like a Sacred Tree should—it stood there in the middle of the courtyard, which seemed long unattended.
The Sacred Tree’s remaining trunk was about three meters thick, entirely encircled by branches, some as stout as a human thigh, others as slim as fingers.
All these branches were fully leaved, and there were visible marks where branches had been cut.
The tree was buried in the ground, or at least its roots were.
The roots, however, no longer grew; though not dead, they were also not growing.
Hidden by the leaves, a section in the middle of the stump had been carved out, leading down to the tree’s root underground. It was a heart of the tree—thirty centimeters thick and two and a half meters long, brimming with energy!
While the Sky Eye could see the energy, the energy that Sean could feel was extremely limited!
Was this energy "shielded" away?
With his doubts, Sean walked into the courtyard.
