Chapter 1139: Five hundred and ninety-two

Could this be the shaman of this tribe?

Or perhaps a witch?

Then Sean Knight was drawn away by something else—a tree stump!

It was similar to the stump he had just obtained in his spatial realm today.

However, this stump was enshrined on a stone platform, surrounded by jade stones set in a basin-like decoration.

The stump was slightly thinner than the one Sean had obtained, but it was also longer, almost three meters.

The biggest difference was that this stump was now covered in branches, very tender branches!

It was growing!

This caused Sean’s breathing to suddenly become rapid!

Previously, the feeling in the underground stone chamber where he had obtained that piece of the stump wasn’t as strong as this!

Looking through the center of the stump with the Sky Eye, Sean discovered that the "heart of the tree," similar to jade in the middle of the stump, was more than three times larger than the one he had obtained!

Its size was almost as big as a basketball!

In the vision of the Sky Eye, this thing was radiating a soft green glow, filled with vitality!

Sean didn’t understand the principle, his stump in the spatial realm was thicker than this one, but the vitality of this tree stump was just stronger!

He observed carefully, wanting to see what role this stump played for the tribe.

Then he saw, on a table inside the temple, there was a wooden ladle containing several leaves from the tree; some were already crushed, and others were steeping in water in another wooden cup.

Clearly, these leaves were also significant.

Looking at the several hundred leaves on the tree stump, Sean’s gaze grew eager!

He had the stump, and he had no intention of taking this stump, but if he could tear off some of those leaves, that wouldn’t be bad either!

Of course, it was not possible right now, with too many women in the temple, there was no chance.

Could he also let his own stump out and grow some leaves?

After thinking it over, Sean slowly retreated.

He would wait for the night!

Back in the Cannibal Village, Elijah Hastings, carrying a gun, returned to the shrubbery where Sean Knight was.

He had spared none of the tribal warriors, including the elderly and children that dared attack him.

It was better off for these folks, unable to keep up with the times, to be dead.

"Boss? Boss?" Upon returning to the shrubbery, Elijah noticed that the backpack was there, but the boss wasn’t.

He was shocked and started to call out loudly.

With a gun in hand, he wasn’t afraid to attract any remnants of the Cannibal Tribe.

But after calling a few times, Elijah received no response.

He guessed that Sean must have encountered a Cannibal Tribe warrior and chased after him.

Otherwise, it was impossible not to take the backpack.

What to do now?

Carefully observing his surroundings, Elijah Hastings quickly found some traces and, shouldering his backpack, began to follow the traces slowly.

After about two or three kilometers, he could no longer find any traces.

At this time, Sean Knight, while chasing the half-man-half-monkey creature, had leaped into the trees and, since there were no others around, he had used his full strength, so he had leaped a quite a distance, which made it difficult for Elijah to pick up the trail again.

Eventually, Elijah couldn’t find any further traces of Sean Knight and had no choice but to return to the Ancient City.

He wasn’t too worried about Sean Knight’s safety—given Sean Knight’s current abilities, Elijah figured that even if he himself were in trouble, Sean Knight probably wouldn’t be.

As night began to fall, Elijah simply walked back to the gathering place of the Cannibal Tribe, lit those straw huts on fire and created a large bonfire for himself, then he rested atop a tree.

After Elijah had killed the Cannibal Village’s warriors, the ants had dispersed.

The nearby animals did the same, which saved him a lot of trouble.

But Elijah still maintained enough vigilance, after all, the threat posed by those ants had left a deep impression on him.

Sean Knight fell back to the periphery of the Ancient City and found a tree to climb up.

Then he saw many women starting to arrive at the square in front of the Divine Temple.

These people were carrying food, weapons, and also cups—some wooden, some gold products.

When hundreds of tribal residents had gathered, the women from inside the temple also came out and joined these people, all sitting down in a semicircle facing the temple.

The food was placed on the lowest step of the temple, and the water was placed below the steps.

The closest row of people sat a meter away from the water, and Sean Knight observed that these were all warriors.

Then, he saw the witch or Female Priestess walk out of the temple with a scepter in hand, chanting something or speaking to the people.

After that, the people began to repeat after her.

After three repetitions, someone carried the food up to the altar, and Sean Knight saw that it mainly consisted of cured meats and some fruits.

The beautiful Female Priestess took the wooden plate holding the food, waved her scepter, and the women below started to take the food and eat.

It began with the young Female Warriors, followed by children, and lastly the elderly.

Considering the supplies available in this part of the Amazon Jungle, the amount of food seemed sparse, which puzzled Sean Knight.

Not being able to figure it out, he stopped thinking about it and quietly took out a meat sandwich from his spatial realm to eat—when he put it in there, it was hot, and it was still hot when he took it out.

This was quite nice!

After eating, Sean Knight leaned against the tree trunk and rested for a while; it wasn’t long before the gathering by the temple had ended, and the women returned to their homes, while some warriors ran to the nearby training field to practice.

After nightfall, the women all went back to their houses, and two flames lit up at the Temple Entrance, and that’s when Sean Knight realized that there were two stone basins about one and a half meters tall at the temple entrance.

Now the basins, which contained some unknown fuel, blazed with roaring flames.

Sean Knight was in no hurry, as he planned to sneak in during the latter half of the night to see if he could salvage those Tree Leaves.

The flames in the temple’s stone basins slowly diminished, and Sean Knight checked the time—it was about right.

He quietly descended from the tree and sneaked towards the temple.

There were a few Female Warriors patrolling, but after watching them for half the night, Sean Knight had nearly figured out their pattern and easily avoided the patrollers, and made his way to the Temple Entrance.

Sky Eye saw a Priest lying on the Wooden bed in front of a Tree Stump inside, and Sean Knight slowly sneaked in.

Just as he was about to pull off some Tree Leaves, he saw a pair of bright eyes!
