Chapter 1137: Chapter 592: This forest is full of treasures everywhere!
Sean Knight flashed into the shrubbery and turned around simultaneously to see his enemy:
It was a figure about one meter tall, hunched over, its face human yet simian, left arm clutching three wooden spears nearly as tall as he was and the right holding another, poised to strike at Sean Knight!
And what Sean had felt earlier was the wooden spear thrown by this very opponent!
Sean raised his arm and fired a shot. The half-human, half-monkey creature reacted incredibly fast, throwing its spear and vaulting onto a nearby tree while making a mocking face at Sean!
This individual was indeed born of the Cannibal Tribe—he valued human life as little as nothing!
Angered, Sean rattled off shots with his pistol, bullets enveloping the creature!
He actually knew that compared to the warriors of the Cannibal Tribe, this half-monkey posed the greatest threat to him!
Despite Sean’s supernaturally keen senses, he hadn’t noticed how the creature had managed to approach him, clearly demonstrating agility and patience far surpassing ordinary humans!
Under Sean’s assault, the half-human, half-monkey creature fled disastrously, with an arm wounded by a bullet. The two wooden spears in its left hand dropped to the ground while it still clutched tightly to the one in its right hand.
Sean was somewhat surprised that not only did the creature look like a monkey, its agility was monkey-like as well. It dodged most of the bullets fired by Sean while leaping and swinging between trees with impressive speed!
Suddenly invigorated, Sean took off after the creature!
This was once a city, and although many trees had since grown, the density wasn’t as great as outside, and with the enhancement from Sky Eye, Sean was able to keep pace with the creature.
Every now and then, a warrior from the Cannibal Tribe would hear the commotion and come after him, but Sean would finish them off with a mere flick of his gun.
Only in these moments did Sean feel that his combat abilities were normal.
It was the monkey’s combat abilities that were abnormal!
The half-man, half-monkey creature sped through the trees, and even where there were no trees nearby, it jumped down and darted away with astonishing speed. Sean, unfamiliar with the terrain, though perceptive, was not as quick to change direction or navigate obstacles as the monkey, and while he didn’t lose the chase, he also didn’t catch up.
This successfully stirred Sean’s competitive spirit, and he suddenly quickened his pace and darted forward, ducking low.
Sensing that Sean was going all out, the creature also sped up, knowing that it was a matter of life and death. Jumping onto a tree, it made a wide side loop around a horizontal branch and shot its wooden spear toward Sean!
Sean, eyeing the incoming spear hurled at him, was also shocked. The monkey, even while running at such a high speed, could aim its wooden spear with such precision, a skill that surely couldn’t be attained merely through rigorous practice. This creature’s talent was definitely extraordinary!
However, no matter how talented it was, it was an enemy now, and there was only one outcome—death!
Unbeknownst to them, Sean and the half-human, half-monkey creature had already chased beyond the area of the Ancient City Ruins and were headed for the Dense Forest!
Though the jungle thickened, the monkey, being wounded, clearly lacked strength. Otherwise, it might have been able to shake Sean off in the dense forest.
Still, Sean followed closely behind, leisurely firing shots now and then. He’d begun to surmise that this creature wasn’t an inhabitant of the Cannibal Tribe but likely related to a tribe acquainted with the Cannibals.
With this theory in mind, Sean continued the pursuit.
Leaving the Ancient City Ruins, they entered the dense jungle and shrubbery where no road could be found. The half-man, half-monkey intentionally led Sean through difficult terrain: Vines, Thorny Brambles, and even treacherous Poisonous Insect Swamps.
Ordinary people would have either been trapped and grievously injured or lost long ago if they passed through these places.
To its disappointment, however, these areas could hardly trouble Sean. Under his Sky Eye, all traps and dangers were visible. Sean even used the landscape to his advantage, anticipating his path, and a bullet hit the half-monkey in the ear, leaving it one-eared!
Though the creature growled in rage, it knew that stopping to confront Sean would be futile and so it struggled on, hoping to reach its tribe and get help to regain its dignity.
At that point, Sean was calm and not in a hurry. He occasionally fired a shot but never aimed for the creature’s vital spots—rather, he was curious to see where this creature had sprung from.
There had been several opportunities when Sean could have killed it.
This difficult area of the jungle stretched at least four or five kilometers. Once through, the view opened up. A lot of towering trees loomed ahead, making the ground beneath darker but much easier to traverse.
Suddenly, the half-man, half-monkey creature let out a loud shriek, and distant cries echoed back—each cry following another.
The creature seemed exhilarated, speeding up in the treetops and darting toward the source of the shouts.
Sean knew that reinforcements were coming for the creature, so there was no need to hold back. He raised his arm and took a shot that blew open the head of the creature, which was trying to leap from one tree to another!
With a "plop!" the creature dropped to the ground, dead with its eyes still open, a look of resentment on its face.
Sean didn’t approach the creature but instead hid up a tree far away, watching the direction from which the sounds were coming.
