Chapter 1105: Chapter 581 When Will The Garrison Arrive Here?_2

Sean Knight thought that was the end of the discussion, but Abdullah mentioned something that caught him off guard:

"Sean, now that we are relatives, we’re family, right?"

"Yes," Sean felt there was something odd about Abdullah’s tone.

You’re a Crown Prince, for goodness’ sake!

Why speak with such a tone?

"Now that my sister is carrying your child, I think you could mention to the appropriate authorities in your country that we are friendly nations now.

When can your country send some troops over to be stationed here? Don’t worry, we’ll cover all the costs."

This proposition stunned Sean to the core!

Even though he had traveled all over the world and seen many strange and not-so-strange things,

he had never encountered someone actively requesting another country’s troops to be stationed within their borders!

What does this mean?

"Abdullah, that’s not something I can decide. I can ask about it for you, but I can’t guarantee what the outcome will be," Sean said cautiously.

"Alright," Abdullah sounded somewhat dissatisfied. "With your influence, you should be able to persuade some people, right?"

"Mmm, I’ll do my best," Sean replied, somewhat distractedly, as he hung up the phone call.

Troops stationed? Actively requesting a foreign country’s garrison?

Seeing Sean’s expression, Aria Wilson took the initiative to ask:

"Brother Yu, what’s wrong? Did my brother say something upsetting?"

"No," Sean pondered for a moment before saying, "Your brother hopes our country will station troops in your country."

After saying this, he looked at Aria, wanting to see her reaction.

"What? Have our troops stationed?" Mark Knight was also taken aback, "This is..."

"It’s perfectly normal," Aria said as if it were a matter of course. "Many of us think this way. We believe that your army is formidable, China is powerful, and if your troops were stationed here, no one would dare to bully our country..."

Sean and Mark exchanged looks, then they understood.

This must be due to the different attitudes shaped by national education and historical heritage.

"Is there something wrong?" Aria could tell from Sean and Mark’s expressions that what she said might differ from their thoughts.

"If we station troops, wouldn’t your common people have some resistance to it?" Sean asked tentatively.

"Not at all," Aria said as a matter of fact. "Your army is well-disciplined and wouldn’t bully the common people. Our civilians would be very happy to accept them."

Alright, it indeed was a difference in perceptions.

Mark picked up his wine glass, sighing emotionally.

It was a sigh of contentment.

"That’s good," Sean smiled and said, "The thoughts of our countries’ civilians are different. If a foreign country were to station troops in China, our people might spontaneously organize into an army and then drive those soldiers out—

Of course, neither the relevant departments of our country nor our military would ever allow such a thing to happen."

"I understand. I can comprehend," Aria nodded her head, "You’re a major power! Your country was long ago the leader of the world. The spirit ingrained in your people is to never settle for being second to anyone.

I’ve met many Chinese people who have this belief that they are naturally the world’s number one. I also know that more than a hundred years ago, many countries had troops stationed in your country, which is considered a humiliating period in your history.

So you would never allow other countries to station troops within your borders.

But we are different—not just us, but many of the small nations surrounding your country share a similar mindset.

We can’t become number one in the world, nor do we want to do many things for that goal. We just hope that these powerful nations can protect us. So, having troops stationed in our country is fine, as long as they protect us and don’t do anything excessive."

Alright, Sean understood now.

It turns out that, despite enduring more than a hundred years of humiliation, the Chinese people still possessed the pride of a celestial empire deep in their bones—except for a few traitors who had either knelt for too long, softening their bones, or had their spines extracted.

Otherwise, the vast majority of Chinese people would never allow other countries to station troops within their own borders—not even at the entrance of an embassy!

"Then rest for two days, and I’ll take you back to your brother. After a while, I’ll bring you back again," Sean said. "If there’s anything, you can call me at any time."

"Okay," Aria was actually feeling a little homesick. After all, although things were good here, she felt empty without Sean around.

Aria knew that Sean still had to deal with land issues in Brazil, so she wanted to take this opportunity to go back and reassure her brother.

Although Jasmine Green was reluctant to part with her, she was aware that the conditions at the Royal Family were certainly better than here.

Besides, there’s nothing wrong with a daughter-in-law visiting her own family, is there?

So even though she was reluctant, she just told Aria to take good care of herself and to call Sean if anything came up.

The day before leaving, Sean called Kyle Mitchell to talk about Abdullah’s request.

"Stationed troops are out of the question," Kyle Mitchell rejected the idea immediately, "The international implications are too significant, and it could easily spread negative propaganda against our country by hostile nations."

Sean felt a chill in his heart.

"However, we can solve this issue in other ways," Kyle Mitchell continued. "Think about it, what they really want is security. Why must it be the military, right?"
