Chapter 1093: Chapter 577 Ah! My land! It’s all my land!_2
He glanced at the other party, then got into the car.
"Boss, were those two just now our competitors, as Duterte Rogers mentioned?" In the car, Douglas Cooper curiously asked.
"They probably are." Sean Knight nodded, "There aren’t many Chinese people here, so it’s highly likely they’re after the same target as us."
The two walked out of the Parking Lot and during their walk towards the building, the woman said:
"Isaac Myers, could those people we saw just now have the same purpose, coming here for the Land Auction?"
"The chances are high." Isaac Myers clearly came prepared, "According to the information I have, a large tract of land that originally belonged to a Japanese company has recently changed owners, and rumor has it, the current landlord is Chinese.
These people don’t come with good intentions!"
"Then we need to adjust our Land bidding budget. Let’s set the maximum price per hectare at fifteen thousand US dollars!"
"That high?" Isaac Myers frowned, "If that’s the case, our funds could become very tight, risking a break at any moment!"
"No problem." The woman said emotionlessly, "As long as we win the land at that price, we’ll be able to get a loan from the Bank. After all, with the current international market conditions, food prices are rising, and so naturally, the value of arable land is also increasing."
Seeing the woman make a decision so decisively and differently from her usual temperament, Isaac Myers heaved a sigh inwardly, and remained silent.
In the other car, Lincoln Harrington also asked Sean Knight:
"Boss, what’s our budget for the land auction?"
"There’s no set budget." Sean Knight said, "As long as the prices aren’t outrageous, we’ll bid for it. After all, land is really worth money nowadays."
"Then boss, we also need to strengthen our security forces." Elijah Hastings spoke up, "Otherwise, it’s no use having so much land with nobody to guard it. If there’s any trouble, or if there’s some instability around here—"
"Right," Sean Knight agreed, "that’s indeed a good suggestion. Let’s make a phone call back home tonight and recruit more people for training."
"And let’s make sure our win-win policy is implemented. As long as the locals are happy for us to Farm here, everything else will be easier to handle." Sean Knight continued:
"Of course, don’t hold back with those bastards, either. We’re not pushovers. Many compatriots have erected the image of being soft overseas; it’s time for a change."
Perhaps there was something malicious about this place, because as soon as Sean Knight and his group arrived at the Hotel Entrance, several hoodlums approached them, gave them the finger, and then pointed at the package Lincoln Harrington was carrying.
Their message was clear: they wanted money.
This was happening right at the entrance of a Star Hotel. Could these people really be so brazen?
Security guards not far away glanced over, then turned their heads away as if nothing had happened.
"Forget it, let’s not stay here. Let’s go," Sean Knight said. "And by the way, deal with them harshly. These guys are too arrogant; they need to be taught a lesson!"
The hoodlums seemed to realize that Sean Knight and his team were ignoring them and immediately pulled out daggers and other weapons, ready to attack.
The opponents numbered seven or eight, while there were only four on Sean Knight’s side. To the hoodlums, it seemed like an easy win.
They apparently hadn’t seen American black comedy shows and didn’t know not to mess with Chinese people, especially a few young men who were tall, with short crew cuts!
"I haven’t had a skirmish in a long time; my hands are itching," Douglas Cooper said, his eyes shining with excitement. "You all watch, I’ll handle this alone!"
Then he faced the lead hoodlum who was stabbing at him with a dagger and didn’t even dodge. He directly grabbed the assailant’s wrist, twisted it, and the dagger turned direction, stabbing deep into the thick part of the hoodlum’s thigh!
Douglas Cooper released his grip and let the hoodlum wail in pain as he prepared to take on the next one.
Then he realized Elijah Hastings and Lincoln Harrington had already plunged into the crowd, not making any playful moves like him but striking lethal blows. Each punch and kick brought someone down like a wolf among sheep, with no match whatsoever!
"Damn it, leave a couple for me!" Douglas Cooper cried out, "Why are you not fighting fair?"
"The heck with fighting fair!" Lincoln Harrington kicked one hoodlum below the belt, then caught another one trying to run and easily dislocated both of his arms, "Such noise, it’d be a wonder if the police don’t show up. We need a quick victory!"
By the time he finished speaking, not one hoodlum was standing.
The two security guards nearby were so frightened their legs were trembling; they didn’t know what to say.
"Let’s go, there’s no point staying here," Sean Knight said. "We’ll find another place. And tomorrow, we’ll file a complaint—the security here is terrible!"
By the time the police arrived to question the hoodlums and security guards, Sean Knight and his party had already checked into another Star Hotel.
The environment here was nice, at least there were no hoodlums bothering them at the entrance, and the security was diligent.
After receiving a tip and making their intentions very clear, Sean Knight and his group had a very peaceful night.
The next day, after having breakfast, the four of them drove to the office building managed by Duterte Rogers.
After parking the car, they reached the entrance of the building and found it much livelier than usual. Many people, like them holding Invitation Cards, were heading inside the building.
The Auction was on the fourth floor, and it seemed this place often held such events. The Lobby Guards efficiently checked their invitation cards and then let them in.
