Rise of the Lustful Evil Monarch (Re) -
Chapter 350 350: Clash of the White and the Blue
Third Person's POV
A knowing smile tinged with mischief and silent certainty began to unfurl across her lips when suddenly a jarring screech sliced through the air and shattered the stillness like glass.
Listening to it, her grin vanished, and her gaze snapped to the roiling black mist, which now throbbed like a living wound in the clearing.
It bubbled and quivered while pulses of blue and black light flashed from within like the beating of a heart on the edge of rupture.
In the next instant, a small figure shot out from the gloom in a blur of movement.
It was none other than the blue scorpion, but its body was now twisted and scorched.
Large sections of its once-glistening crystal blue carapace had blackened and melted like slag under that unnatural but intense corrosion of the dark.
Its limbs twitched, and it shrieked in raw, gut-wrenching agony and anger, but it didn't flee.
No… instead, it turned and with that its segmented tail curled with a venomous intent as it faced the collapsing cloud of darkness once more that followed after it like a never ending pursuer.
In response, tiny translucent motes of luminous blue light began swirling at the tip of its tail.
They flickered like scattered stars, and then gathered with alarming speed into a rapidly rotating sphere that was no larger than a baby's head.
In the center of that glowing orb, a white-hot core glimmered with terrifying intensity, while the outer layer shimmered like pure, living water.
As it formed, the surrounding air started to crack under the mounting pressure and then—boom.
With a deafening shockwave, the sphere launched from its tail.
The ground trembled beneath the force while the surrounding trees started trembling violently, under the shockwaves as their roots were almost torn from the soil.
Wind strong enough to lift a grown man off the ground howled and spiraled behind the projectile.
It was so fast that, had Ethan still been disoriented like the instant he had suffered the scorpion's ambush, it would have struck him dead-on.
But he had already adapted and was even in the dominant position.
The moment the ominous sphere began to take shape, his instincts had screamed.
In response, he rapidly repositioned himself with a calm yet alert expression as he maintained his grip tightly around the hilt of his Black Dragon Saber.
Feeling his tight hold over it, the blade started shimmering with a cold resolve as if it were responding to its master's will.
As the attack launched toward him like a comet of watery light, Ethan's crimson eyes flared wide.
Drawing on every fiber of strength within his body—now honed and reinforced by the frigid power of his icy body-strengthening technique, he slashed downwards with every fiber of his body and his weapon in perfect sync.
The air cracked apart under the sheer force of the motion.
From his blade burst forth a concentrated arc of sharp and impossibly fast glacial blue energy.
Unlike his earlier, uncontrolled eruptions, this one was disciplined, compressed, and deadly.
The icy arc roared across the distance in a blur of white and blue and collided in a head-on clash with the glowing sphere.
A shock of silence followed… that soon burst out into a screech of unraveling force.
To the scorpion's horror and the silent surprise of the two unseen women, the icy arc sliced through the glowing sphere and split it cleanly in half.
The fragmented energy of the two halves of the sphere fell on the ground and created two big craters while they dissipated in a chaotic dance of revolving motion.
But as the scorpion's attack was nullified before it could reach Ethan, the icy arc didn't stop.
It surged onward and streaked toward the scorched and panic-stricken scorpion, whose entire being was already spent.
It had nothing left, no venom, no energy, and no time to dodge the apocalyptic slash.
Its beady blue eyes widened in raw despair as the glacial slash barreled toward it, freezing even the air in its wake.
Desperation poured off its trembling limbs as it stared death in the face, but it seemed that when everything was about to go wrong for the creature, an unexpected intervention arrived to save its life.
A smooth, pale hand, almost too perfect to be real, appeared before the scorpion, as if it had materialized from the sunlight itself and carrying no aura that indicated any sign of its origin to Ethan's senses.
And with that same calm grace, it met the icy arc head-on.
To any observer, the next moment would seem impossible as, instead of slicing through flesh and freezing blood, the arc diminished and shrank rapidly upon contact with the hand and compressed inward until it was no larger than a grain of rice.
Then, with a soft poof, it disintegrated into sparkling white powder, which gently scattered over the emerald forest floor like stardust drifting in daylight.
The hand didn't bear a scratch, forget about any bloody wound that one would have imagined.
Breathing heavily with his hand still gripping the hilt of his saber, Ethan let out a long, drawn-out sigh as he turned to look at the figure approaching him.
His Master had appeared.
With a sharp swish, he tilted the blade downward, and as his lips parted, the swirling tendrils of darkness that had encircled the clearing like storm-fed rivers twisted back toward him.
Like a whale gulping down seawater, the shadows poured into his mouth in a quiet and seamless way until the space around him cleared once more.
Nyx stepped in front of him the next moment with her expression unreadable as she casually held the Crystal Blue Scorpion in one hand, as if it were nothing more than a harmless ornament.
She had subdued it effortlessly, without leaving even a trace of its resistance behind, and she reached before him, she did a simple flick of her wrist, and tossed the creature toward Ethan.
