Chapter 293: Chapter 293. Combination Techniques

Elemental Support was why Amon had Wu Lang, who had an element weak against metal, in a team against Hu Ti. His purpose in the team was not to fight Hu Ti but to support Yang Li.

While almost every cultivator knew about elemental strengths and weaknesses, many common cultivators like Dao Se were oblivious to elemental supports. The students of the Royal Academy were, of course, taught about this topic in the theory class.

Each element could support another element. Wood supported fire, fire supported earth, earth supported metal, metal supported water, and water supported wood.

Pulling off elemental support wasn’t something that could be done simply by knowing. If the two cultivators attempting it performed their arcane arts normally, the resulting arcane arts would simply behave as if they were executed by two conflicting parties, where the stronger art defeated the weaker one. For example, Yang Li’s fire would have burnt Wu Lang’s barbed whip instead of merging with it.

To pull off elemental support, the two cultivators executing the arcane arts would have to synchronize their aether. They had to condition it so the arcane arts they produced considered one another friendlies instead of foes. This technique was taught at the Royal Academy, and it needed practice.

Normally, this technique was unpopular because it required two cultivators to work together. Additionally, if they wished to pull it off with a different cultivator, they had to retrain, even when they both had done it before. Each cultivator’s aether was unique. Every time they changed partners, they had to re-practice for synchronization.

Young and hot-headed cultivators mostly preferred solo without dependance on another party. It was also a hassle to practice synchronization repeatedly every time they changed partners. That’s why not many used this technique. However, when one did, the result spoke for itself.

Amon had Yang Li practice with Wu Lang, while Xin Wuming practiced with Qiang Dan before this operation. With the support of Wu Lang’s wood element, Yang Li’s S-affinity fire could generate a power that allowed them to compete against an opponent with a cultivation way higher than hers.

When Hu Ti was forced back by the fused arts, Lu Fei executed First Light at Dawn to flank Hu Ti. He then followed up by sending confusing chained kicks using Seven Altering Kicks. Hu Ti repelled all those kicks using his two palms covered with golden light.

Yang Li and Wu Lang returned and caused trouble. Hu Ti was vexed by the situation. To make matters worse, several flying knives came out of nowhere, targeting him. His Golden Sphere Drape deflected those knives. He turned and saw that those knives came from Amon.

Dao Se had been weakened by the Fragile Bone Muscle Poison. Amon left Xin Wuming and Qiang Dan to finish him. He came here to help Lu Fei and the others defeat Hu Ti.

While Hu Ti’s attention was drawn by Lu Fei’s kicks and Amon’s knives, Yang Li barged in from the opposite side. A long lance of fire appeared from her finger. This was Flame Lance, the same arcane art Amon possessed. Amon taught her this art during their regular spar. She only learned it recently, but thanks to her S-affinity fire element, she quickly learned this art to the skilled mastery.

Amon sighed in his mind every time he witnessed Yang Li perform the art. When he was still at the skilled mastery, his Flame Lance only produced a fiery lance one foot in length. The length of the fiery lance produced by Yang Li was five feet. It almost rivaled his Flame Lance which was at master-level mastery. This was the undeniable difference between one with an elemental affinity and one who did not.

The five-foot-long lance pierced Hu Ti’s Golden Sphere Drape, which had already been weakened by Lu Fei’s barrage of kicks. The sphere shattered when that happened. Hu Ti used his gold-covered palm to slap the incoming flame lance before making a chopping motion. His chop left a trail of golden light as sharp as a blade. If Yang Li hadn’t ducked in time, her head would have split from her body.

Following her duck was a scorpion kick that came unexpectedly. Hu Ti was taken aback, but his speed allowed him to react and block the sudden kick. While doing that, Yang Li slammed his claw onto the ground, producing a burst of flame. Wu Lang used another wood-element arcane art at this time.

Vines erupted from the ground where Yang Li’s flame was raging. The vines and flames merged, turning them into flaming vines attempting to entangle Hu Ti.

Hu Ti jumped away, but the flaming vines managed to snatch one of his legs.

"Ugh!" Hu Ti’s palm made another chopping motion. Under normal circumstances, his chop would easily sever all the vines entangling his leg. This time, though, one vine remained intact. Yang Li’s flame greatly mitigated the sharpness of his metal element.

Since he was still anchored, he couldn’t dodge another round of flying knives. He used his other palm to repel them. Lu Fei’s kicks came again at this time. These kicks finally landed on his body.

*CLANG!*CLANG!*CLANG!*

Lu Fei felt like he kicked a metal statue instead of the body of a human. This was because Hu Ti also had Iron Skin art like Xin Wuming. The force caused the remaining vine binding his leg to snap. Hu Ti backstepped several times to negate the force.

Blood trickled from the side of Hu Ti’s mouth. Despite his higher cultivation, Iron Skin was a low-tier practitioner art. It was not enough to completely negate the power of a Mystic Stage cultivator like Lu Fei.

"Surrender, Hu Ti," Amon said. "Give up before you suffer more wounds."

Hu Ti looked at the situation. It was indeed not well for their side. Although they had a larger number, the Demon Gang had taken the initiative. The momentum was on their side. Additionally, the Alley Advocates and Sewer Snakes were two different organizations that used to be enemies. Though they were currently allies, their members stayed away from each other. They were like two parties who fought separately instead of working together.

Hu Ti wiped the blood from his mouth and spat. "Pah! You are dreaming if you think the great Hu Ti will surrender to a brat like you! Once I capture you, your side will be the one who surrenders!"

Hu Ti rushed forward after speaking. He slapped his two palms forward. A powerful sucking force was felt by everyone. Yang Li, Wu Lang, and Lu Fei were yanked toward Hu Ti. Lu Fei stomped his feet to the ground to resist the sucking force, but Yang Li and Wu Lang were helpless. Lu Fei kicked toward the two and used the long reach of his leg to act like a bar and prevented the two from getting sucked further.

However, Hu Ti slapped a second time. The powerful sucking force suddenly reversed into a powerful pushing force. The three couldn’t react to this sudden change of force. They were blown away. Hu Ti never stopped running. With the three out of the way, he had a clear way to Amon.

"Upstart leader! Time to know your limit!" Hu Ti exclaimed. His speed let him arrive before Amon in a short time. His arm extended forward, attempting to grab Amon and capture him.

When he thought his victory was assured, the ground under him shook. He lost balance. As a result, his arm swayed a little and went past beside Amon.

Amon’s two arms acted then. Hu Ti was shocked by his sudden loss of balance but didn’t panic. He pumped his power into his Iron Skin. This was the perfect time for Amon to hit him, but Amon had a much lower cultivation than him. His assaults would not penetrate his Iron Skin defense.

Contrary to expectation, Amon didn’t land any hits. Instead, his left hand grabbed Hu Ti by the armpit. At the same time, his right hand started poking Hu Ti’s extended arm repeatedly.

"Meridian points technique?!" Hu Ti realized what Amon was trying to do.

"In your dream!" He yelled as he tried to yank his arm away to stop Amon from completing the technique. To his shock, his arm refused to move.

’What...?!’ Hu Ti couldn’t understand what was happening.

What happened was that Amon was combining two techniques, his original pressure points and the meridian points. His left arm, grabbing Hu Ti’s armpit, used pressure points to paralyze that arm, allowing Amon the time needed to complete poking all the necessary meridian points in Hu Ti’s arm.

"Fuck you!" Hu Ti’s other hand slammed into Amon’s chest.

Amon was thrown far away from the impact. Blood came out from the bottom of his mask. That strike caused him to vomit blood. But instead of uttering a sound of pain, he was chuckling. "Hehe, I got you."

Hu Ti was surprised that one palm strike didn’t kill Amon, but another surprise took his attention. He couldn’t move his left arm!
