Rise of The Demon General
Chapter 280. A Captive for Harvesting

Chapter 280: Chapter 280. A Captive for Harvesting

"Get the hell out! We are close already!"

Two rough-looking adults threw a young man out of a tavern. The tavern served customers way past midnight, but it was almost dawn, and yet this young man still requested to be served more wine. The owner had spoken nicely to ask the young man to leave, but the young man would have none of it. He demanded more wine while being overbearing. The owner could finally bear it no more and instructed his tavern guards to chase this young man away.

If the young man wanted to resist, he could. He was an Intermediate Transformation Stage cultivator. The two tavern guards were at the Beginning Transformation Stage. However, he was too drunk to do anything. He was only aware he got thrown out when he was lying on the street outside.

This young man was Wu Qiu. He was a Royal Academy senior student. He originally came to this region with his fellow senior students. Their previous boss, who had graduated, tasked them to take out a person who was a thorn in their faction. The person they were targeting was Lin Mo, the leader of Vicious.

They attacked Lin Mo in Grimwich Village. Unfortunately, he got separated from his comrades and was forced to flee after being wounded by a junior girl. He was so ashamed that he stayed out of sight for a whole day.

He couldn’t find his comrades when he finally decided to look for them the next day. Instead, he saw their target, Lin Mo, fighting the previous leader of the Virtuous Faction, Xian Yang. He was about to lend a hand when a weird spirit beast appeared.

The spirit beast made him feel uneasy, so he stayed in hiding. He made the right decision because it turned out the spirit beast was unlike any spirit beast he knew. He was given the fright of his life when the spirit beast unleashed a strange energy all around the place, and some of the people started having ghostly arms coming out of them. When he saw the spirit beast managed to wound even Xian Yang, he bolted.

He ran all the way to this city. He stayed here because he was waiting for his comrades. Before they departed, they agreed to regroup in this city in case they got separated. He had been waiting all this time while trying to use wine to erase what he had witnessed.

After a few minutes of lying on the quiet street, he was finally sober enough to get up. He grumbled and yelled at the already-closed tavern. After getting tired of yelling, he walked away. He was still rather drunk, so he couldn’t walk properly. He was heading toward a nearby inn, where he had rented a room.

As he walked, he heard a voice calling him. He turned to the voice and saw someone inside a dark alley. He stared at the alley for some time.

"Hey, handsome. Want to have a good time?"

He could hear the voice more clearly this time. It was a woman’s voice. Her voice sounded lovely. He squinted his eyes, trying to look at the woman inside the dark alley. He couldn’t see her face because there was not enough light, but her figure looked top-rate.

He was still drunk enough to not think clearly, so he went into the alley.

He spoke as he walked deeper into the alley, "Hey, pretty girl. Come! I will show you a good time. Just so you know, I am a student of the Royal Academy. You will not regret spending your time with me."

The girl didn’t approach, but her words encouraged him to come to her.

"Wow! A Royal Academy student? So impressive! I bet many girls are fighting over you. I wish I could be one of them."

"Don’t worry, pretty girl. Tonight, you can have me all for yourself. We are going to have so much..."

Wu Qiu stopped speaking when he got close enough to see the woman’s face. The face was indeed pretty, but it was a face he had seen before.

"Yo–You...!" Wu Qiu staggered back. The woman was the junior student who had wounded him in Grimwich Village.

He bumped into something when he tried to step back. He was about to turn when he felt something sharp pricking his neck. He suddenly felt very weak and tired. A strong drowsiness assailed him. Without being able to resist, he lost consciousness.

Amon and Tuang Yin looked at Wu Qiu lying on the ground. A thin needle was stuck in his neck. That thin needle contained a strong sedative. The sedative was something Amon had concocted through an experiment using his weakened version of Fragile Bone Muscle Poison combined with other alchemical ingredients. Since Wu Qiu was drunk, to begin with, there was not much resistance to the sedative from invading his system.

Amon and Tuang Yin tailed Wu Qiu after they spotted him. They originally planned to ambush him inside his room at the inn. But seeing him drunk like this, and added to the fact that the streets were empty, they seized the chance.

"What do you want with him? Why don’t we just end his pathetic life and get it over with?" Tuang Yin asked Amon.

"I have a use for him," Amon answered without explaining.

Amon took out an engraved rope they bought earlier in a shop. Not only was this engraved rope hard to break, but its word of power also weakened the thing it bound. Once he was bound by this engraved rope, Wu Qiu wouldn’t be able to free himself with only his Intermediate Transformation Stage cultivation.

Amon tied Wu Qiu while Tuang Yin kept watch in case anyone approached the alley. Amon double-checked the knots after he was done, ensuring everything was secure. He then took out a large leather bag and stuffed Wu Qiu inside. After finishing, he put the bound Wu Qiu inside his black space ring.

Other space rings could not store living things. His black space ring was special. That’s how he could build an entire plantation inside the ring. However, he could not keep living things inside. They could get out if they wished to.

He experimented with this when he found out about his ring’s special ability in the past. He tested it by using it on a weak spirit beast. If he could imprison a living being inside his black space ring, it would give him a tremendous advantage. The world inside his black space ring was under his command, after all.

Unfortunately, the spirit beast that entered his black space ring came out not long after it entered. So, he couldn’t use this ring’s ability for combat. However, from his experiment, he learned that the living thing that entered his ring’s world needed to consciously wish to exit the ring to do so. If they didn’t know they were in another dimension and didn’t think about leaving the pocket world inside the ring, they would remain inside.

He tested this by overpowering a different, weak spirit beast and kept it bound. Once the spirit beast got tired and slept, he sneakily put a bag in its head and sent it into his black space ring. He waited for days, but the spirit beast remained inside.

He was doing the same to Wu Qiu. Wu Qiu was bound. When he regained consciousness, he wouldn’t be able to see his surroundings since he was inside a leather bag. He would think he had been captured somewhere but wouldn’t think he was in a pocket dimension. He might wish to get out of his binding, but not from this pocket world.

Tuang Yin didn’t know the secret to Amon’s black space ring, so she asked, "Where did he go?"

"Somewhere," Amon didn’t elaborate. It was enough for her to know one of his secrets. He was not going to add more.

Tuang Yin also didn’t push for an explanation. He had hung around Amon long enough to know he had many secrets.

After capturing Wu Qiu, the two went toward the sky stable. Tuang Yin wanted to rent an inn so they could rest. They had been awake a full day and night to tail Wu Qiu, but Amon chose to leave immediately.

They rented a great eagle from the sky stable. Tuang Yin slept during the journey while Amon resumed cultivating his black energy core.

His progress was slow at first because he could not muster much negative emotion from himself. A few hours after they departed, he sensed confusion and fear from inside his black space ring. Wu Qiu had regained consciousness.

Amon smiled. He tapped into the negative emotions of Wu Qiu and used them for his infernal cultivation art. This was the reason he had kidnapped Wu Qiu. The basement of his Royal Academy residence was his current best cultivation spot, but it was secluded. Only the other top ten stayed nearby. He doubted the cultivators from these top ten harbored many negative emotions. Even if they did, it was not guaranteed they would be around when he was cultivating. Thus, he needed a captive to harvest the negative emotions.
