Rise of The Demon General
Chapter 265. The Pursuit

Chapter 265: Chapter 265. The Pursuit

Amon had warned Tuang Yin in advance about his intention, so Tuang Yin closed her eyes while looking down when the Flashbang Grenade exploded. She wasn’t blinded, but she was close enough to be deafened by the noise.

Amon was the same, but they had prepared to act once the explosion was over. The two jumped and ran up the building on opposite sides.

Amon threw his flying knives while climbing. The senior up there couldn’t see or hear, but he was alert enough to take action when he realized the potential danger. His weapon, which was a long staff, spun around to protect himself. The staff was spun using martial arts. It created a defensive bubble that deflected Amon’s flying knives.

The senior concentrated his defensive bubble on his body from the knees up because that was where his vital parts were. His feet were less protected. Between the interval when the staff swept past his feet, a vine shot in and entangled his ankles. The vine tightened and brought his feet together. He lost his balance and fell.

The vine was Amon’s Corporeal Shifting Branches. While he shot the vine using his left hand, his right hand threw the Swan Dagger tied to the Xian Cloth. With the senior losing balance, his defensive martial art was no more. The swan dagger accurately struck the senior’s throat, cutting his jugular and drawing a large amount of blood.

On the opposite side, Tuang Yin’s hands blazed with Burning Hand as she climbed. When she jumped onto the roof, the blinded senior guarding the roof felt the intense heat. He instinctively shielded his head while jumping back, but Tuang Yin’s claws came fast. It caught the defensive arm and ripped its flesh.

"Raargghhh...!!" The senior screamed from the pain. This senior was less alert. He only defended himself by instinct without activating any defensive art. The arm he used to defend with had long gashes with burning wounds all around the gashes.

"Fuck you! Dieee...!!!" The senior shoved a palm forward. The palm caused an implosion of the air where the palm was. This implosion stopped Tuang Yin from advancing further.

This reprieve gave him the time to recover. He could see again with one eye open. Just as he did, he caught a glimpse of an incoming flying knife.

He instinctively used his other arm to block it. The flying knife pierced his good arm, which drew another pained scream.

Tuang Yin looked back. The knife came from Amon. He threw the flying knife after taking care of the senior on the other side. Tuang Yin was surprised Amon finished his opponent so fast.

"Take care of that one first!" Amon yelled at her.

The other seniors had recovered from their affliction. They were surprised to find their prey up there on the roofs. They hurriedly climbed up. They all jumped to the side where Amon was. He was their target, after all.

Amon jumped to the roof of another building and ran away. He was not dumb enough to try fighting six seniors at the same time.

Tuang Yin wanted to help, but Amon had asked her to finish her opponent first. She returned her attention to the senior in front of her.

While Tuang Yin was distracted, the senior poked the meridian points on his arms to stop the bleeding.

"You, bitch! You only wound me because of pulling a cheap shot. I’m an Intermediate Transformation Stage cultivator. I’m going to mess you up now!" The senior threatened.

However, when he tried to channel his aether into his hands, he found his energy was stuck. Not only that, but the pain in his arms also returned, and blood started spurting again.

"You, fool! Don’t you pay attention to the theory class?" Tuang Yin mocked. "Using meridian point techniques to stop bleeding also stops the flow of aether. You won’t be able to use any martial or arcane art that utilizes your arms."

The tutor of the Royal Academy hadn’t taught the meridian points to the junior class, but Tuang Yin knew about this technique thanks to his clan’s teaching.

The flames on Tuang Yin’s hands intensified. She leaped. As she did, the flames formed the image of an eagle. The fire eagle uttered a screeching call.

Even if not incapacitated, Tuang Yin’s art still intimidated the senior. He jumped back frantically as the fire eagle came clawing. Its fiery claws tore the roof and chased after the senior. The struck parts left flaming trails. The fire eagle exploded into a firework as Tuang Yin’s fiery claws became uncountable.

"Fuck this! I’m out of here!" The senior exclaimed as Tuang Yin’s fiery claws came down on him like rain. He turned tail and ran. He expected this to be an easy score, not something where he put his life on the line. He wasn’t willing to sacrifice himself for the cause.

Though the senior couldn’t use his arms, he could still use his legs to execute movement art. Tuang Yin watched the cowardly senior turn into an expert when he fled. None of her claws landed. The entire roof she was on got burned instead.

"Damn it," Tuang Yin cursed. She wanted to chase the cowardly senior but changed her mind. She turned and went after Amon instead. She didn’t want to let Amon face the six seniors by himself.

Not long after, Yang Jun, Leng Ku, and Yang Su arrived at the site where the ambush happened. The roof was still burning, but they were more concerned with what they saw on the roof opposite the burning one.

"A dead royal academy student...," Leng Ku identified the corpse.

"What the hell is going on? There are more than the two academy students from yesterday? And who killed him?" Yang Su asked.

"Bloody hell... Just one thing after another. As if we don’t have enough shit to deal with," Leng Ku cursed.

The three were on their way to investigate the innkeeper’s death. A villager patrolling at night discovered the corpse and identified it as the deed of the Pledge Demon. This villager only reported the incident to them after they woke up this morning. They had a feeling the tenants at the inn had something to do with this. They were on their way to question those tenants.

"What should we do?" Yang Su asked Yang Jun.

Yang Jun spat. "Fuck everything! All these outsiders. We did all we could to prevent bloodshed, but they just had to make it difficult. I have had it with this! We will kill them all!!"

Leng Ku and Yang Su were surprised by the extreme decision Yang Jun made. But then again, they understood the stress Yang Jun was under. After the incident with Yon Niang, he was the one who continued to try to keep everything in order. They guessed he had finally reached his breaking point.

Leng Ku supported Yang Jun’s decision by saying, "An academy student had been killed here. There is no point in avoiding this. One dead student or three dead students, they will still come. We will deal with them when they come."

"Agreed! We are with you all the way!" Yang Su sounded his support.

"Then let’s hunt these outsiders," Yang Jun uttered. His expression was savage.

All six senior students used their best movement arts but couldn’t catch up to Amon. One of the reasons was that Amon’s Shadowless Sprint didn’t lose to their movement arts. Another reason was that Amon expertly identified the best footholds among the myriad roofs they were using for this cat-and-mouse chase.

Two of the seniors had already taken the wrong step. They stepped on the weakened portions of the roofs and ended up breaking the roof tiles they were on. They fell into the houses below. The time they took to climb back up and resume the chase caused them to get left slightly behind.

Aside from that, Amon also used his crossbow to shoot at his closest pursuer. Considering he was moving away from them while they were moving toward him, it was more likely for him to hit them than for them to hit him even if they used long-range attacks.

Even so, Amon could only keep them at bay. He couldn’t slay any of them nor could he put more distance to throw them off his tail. The current situation didn’t benefit him.

He thought about a solution as he continued running. After a while, he decided he should take the risk. He changed direction. The seniors followed. They were not letting him go. They swore today would be the day they ended the leader of the Vicious faction.

The pursuit went on until they reached the largest house in Grimwich Village. This was the house Amon suspected where Yon Niang, the master of the Pledge Demon, dwelt.

Without slowing down, he jumped from the roof of the adjacent building and hurtled directly into one of the house’s second-floor windows. He crashed through the window and disappeared inside.

"Yun, Miyang, circle to the other corners of that house! Make sure he doesn’t escape from other sides!" One of the seniors, who seemed to be the leader, commanded.

Two of the seniors separated while the other four jumped toward the windows on the second floor. The four broke through the windows and were now inside the house with Amon.
