Chapter 206. The Winner and the Loser

Chapter 206: Chapter 206. The Winner and the Loser

Gao Sou’s painful expression transformed into a face filled with fury when he saw Amon coming. His skin suddenly turned red. The air around him steamed. The pressure from the steaming air blew the Swan Dagger away. The needles stuck in his legs were also blasted away.

Gao Sou zoomed forward with a speed so explosive Amon had no time to perform an evasive maneuver. All Amon managed to do was activate his Hardened Bronze Body. Gao Sou’s palm slammed into Amon’s chest. The powerful hit sent Amon flying like a ragged doll.

Amon almost lost consciousness from the palm strike. He only maintained his awareness thanks to his sheer will. He balanced himself in the air so that he landed on his feet. But as soon as his feet touched the ground, his knees buckled. He had to use his hand to prop himself from falling flat on the floor.

"Aackh...!" Amon spit out a mouthful of blood.

His Hardened Bronze Body failed to block much of the hit. Several of his ribs were broken. His internal organ was wounded.

He caught Gao Sou rushing at him. One of Gao Sou’s hands was ablaze with flames.

Amon’s instinct kicked in. His left hand on the ground turned black. His target was the stumps on Gao Sou’s hands where the fingers used to be. Those wounds would serve as the entry points for his poison.

When Amon was about to act, Li Niang came in between them. A gentle wave stopped Gao Sou’s forceful charge while her hand caught his, which was burning. The flames burning that hand were doused.

"Your opponent can’t fight anymore. You win," Li Niang told Gao Sou.

Li Niang turned to Amon. "Do you have an objection?" She asked.

Amon’s arm had returned to its original color when Li Niang interfered. The Xian Cloth was loose on that arm. This coincidentally covered his arm and hand. No one saw his arm turning black a few seconds ago.

Amon wiped the blood on his face. He took a deep breath before standing up. He felt intense pain but endured it. His expression never changed.

"No," Amon answered Li Niang.

Li Niang waved her hand. A gust of wind carried Gao Sou’s severed fingers on the floor. The fingers flew to Gao Sou, who caught them.

Li Niang told Gao Sou, "Go to the infirmary and have them reattached. That way, you won’t need to use a regrowth pill."

Gao Sou scowled. He felt no excitement. Winning this match wasn’t something to celebrate about. It was supposed to be. Having his fingers severed by a weaker opponent, now that was an unbearable humiliation.

Amon walked past without glancing at him. Amon’s gaits showed that the palm strike he inflicted didn’t cause much damage. This pissed him even more. He very much wanted to strike this smug freshman as he walked past, but Li Niang was watching him. So, he just stood there, clenching his fist.

Amon revealed a box while walking. The needles on the floor flew into this box. He then put the box back into his clothes.

The result of the match had been decided. Gao Sou was the winner. Yet, watching the two participants’ expressions, the spectators did not doubt who the real winner and loser was. For a cultivator two levels lower and one stage weaker, it was already incredible Amon didn’t lose as soon as the match began. Not only that, but he also wounded Gao Sou and forced him to use his full-body transformation art.

Transformation art was hard to learn, and a transformation art that drastically transformed the entire body was even harder to learn. Only a transformation stage cultivator could properly learn full-body transformation art. If one executed such art with lower cultivation as Wei Lhosa did in the past, it would inflict permanent damage on the body.

Xin Wuming and the Vicious members came to cheer Amon while the Nobles members were silent in their seats. The situation made it seem as if Amon won instead of Gao Sou. Many in the spectator seats had the same thoughts.

"Too bad that kid chose to build a new faction instead of joining ours," An Wong sighed.

"He is just lucky," An Ling said. She was unwilling to praise Amon. "If Gao Sou used his transformation art from the start, he would have lost without being able to do anything."

"Sister An is right!" Lin Fei agreed. He also loathed a junior from his clan to receive this much attention.

An Wong only shook his head at the two’s remark.

"He is capable and ambitious. I will give him that," Zong Hua said. "But he will learn building a new faction is not that easy. When the result of this match spreads, I’m sure the junior and senior sections will start to pay more attention to this newly-born faction. If he isn’t careful, his faction can drown from just the pressure."

"I believe this is also the reason Sister Zong spectates this match?" An Wong asked.

"Pretty much. I want to see if this supposed leader of an upstart faction is a joke or the real deal," Zong Hua replied.

"And your verdict is...?"

Zong Hua simply smiled for a reply.

Amon and his members walked out of the amphitheater as if they were the victors. On their way toward the exit, Amon took a detour and entered one of the rooms along the corridor. These rooms were waiting rooms for participants to rest as they waited for their match. Amon chose one that was empty.

He told everyone to go home before going in. Xin Wuming and Tuang Yin didn’t leave as Amon told them to. They followed him into the room. Despite their cheering, they were aware Amon’s face was rather pale.

After the door to the room was closed, Amon crumbled to a seat while spitting another mouthful of blood.

"Brother...!" Xin Wuming came to him with a concerned look.

Amon waved him away. Amon took out two recovery pills and popped them into his mouth. He then meditated and used the Nine Moon Restorative Mantra to stabilize his condition.

Xin Wuming and Tuang Yin cleaned the blood Amon spat out before waiting silently beside him. It was an hour before Amon ended his meditation.

"How are you doing, brother?" Xin Wuming asked.

"I still live," Amon answered.

"I know my boyfriend is tough!" Tuang Yin slapped Amon’s back, which caused Amon to grunt.

"Oh, sorry," she said.

"Let’s leave. We are done here," Amon said.

"Brother... Before we go, I want to ask one thing," Xin Wuming said.

"What?"

"Did you... Did you do something to Gao Dou to help me win the match...?"
