Chapter 187. Meeting the Elder

Chapter 187: Chapter 187. Meeting the Elder

Fan Niang stared at the boy in front of her with wariness. She had been through a lot. She had no problem killing her friends in cold blood, just as she did to Jie Mei. Yet, she couldn’t help but feel a slight cold when she saw Amon dispatch Lei Gun. She could see neither emotion nor hesitation in the boy’s eyes. It was as if the act was as normal as breathing to him.

However, she refused to consider Amon the same as her. She refused to believe Amon as someone who had been through the hell of this world and survived. She said to Amon, "Good trick. You will be having a hard time killing him if you do it in an honest fight."

Amon simply sneered. "Are you going to take me to your leader or not?" He asked again.

Fan Niang walked sideways, circling the room to head to the door while keeping Amon in front of her. Her knife remained at the ready.

She arrived before the door. She took out a key from a hidden pocket in her dress. She inserted the key into the door’s lock and opened the door. There was no one outside. Probably due to her instructions to let the captives feel more comfortable to open up to her.

"Come! But keep your distance!" She told Amon. She didn’t expose her back to Amon. She continued to walk sideways while her eyes stayed on Amon.

Only after they reached the end of the corridor secured by two guards, did she turn and order the two guards to flank and watch over Amon. She walked normally afterward and told Amon to follow her.

Amon didn’t try anything. He obediently followed.

They passed through several corridors, including an upper-floor balcony where Amon could see the large arena hall where Yong Lei was killed. There were still a few rebels hanging around there.

They continued through a few more corridors. For an underground complex, Amon thought this place was rather large. The layout was built like a maze. Probably to make it harder for captives to escape and more difficult for enemies to invade.

After a long walk, they came to a large door. Amon heard muffled voices from inside. Fan Niang told the two guards to wait outside and ordered Amon to follow her in. She opened the door and led Amon and herself in.

Inside the room, Amon saw one of the three rebel elders, Luan Xuan. He was holding a whip. Opposite the room was Li Shi. She was naked. Her hands and feet were bound to the wall. All over her body were bloody scars, the results of the whip in Luan Xuan’s hand.

Luan Xuan first showed a surprised expression when he saw Amon and Fan Niang enter. His eyes darted between Amon and Fan Niang. He then said to Fan Niang, "Pan Niang, you come here means you have revealed your cover. Can I assume that it is because you have achieved your objective? So, where is that thing?"

"Pan... Pan Niang...?" Li Shi asked. Though her body was full of wounds, they were superficial. Her martial realm body could heal those wounds without a problem.

"Hehe. That’s right. Her real name is Pan Niang. She is from the Pan clan," Luan Xuan said with a laugh. The Pan clan was one of the three major clans within the Yellow Voice rebel organization.

"What...? That... That can’t be true... Tell me, Fan Niang. Tell me it’s not true!" Li Shi uttered.

Pan Niang completely ignored Li Shi. She said to Luan Xuan, "Elder Xuan, I’m sorry. I have not yet recovered the treasure’s location, but this one here claims to know of it."

Luan Xuan furrowed his brows. "Not yet? Then why do you blow your cover?!" His voice turned thunderous. Pan Niang moved back two steps due to the pressure.

Luan Xuan turned to Amon, who was next to Pan Niang. Although the energy he released using his voice was directed at Pan Niang, he expected Amon, who stood nearby, to be somewhat affected, but Amon stood unmoving.

"So, you said this boy knows the location of the artifact?" Luan Xuan asked Pan Niang.

"Ye... Yes, Elder Xuan," Pan Niang stammered.

"Then tell me, where did you hide the thing we are looking for?" Luan Xuan asked Amon.

"What is this? What are they talking about, Lin Mo?" Li Shi asked Amon.

Amon ignored Li Shi. He asked Luan Xuan, "Can we talk somewhere else in private?"

"Can we talk somewhere else in private?" Amon asked back.

Normally, Luan Xuan would have slapped a captive for such a request. But he felt intrigued by the boy’s calmness. He glanced at Pan Niang and Li Shi before gesturing for Amon to follow him. Pan Niang remained where she stood because Luan Xuan didn’t give her any signal. Amon followed Luan Xuan to another door. The two of them entered, and the door was closed.

Inside was a room filled with luxury. Multiple exotic wooden furniture filled the room. The floor itself was fully covered in soft carpet.

Luan Xuan went to one of the cabinets on the wall. He took a bottle of wine from the many bottles lining the shelves of the cabinet. He brought the bottle and sat on a sofa on one side of the room. He opened the bottle and drank from it directly.

Without offering Amon a seat, he said, "Speak."

"I know you are looking for the Allure Beacon," Amon said.

"Hm... Did Pan Niang tell you that?" Luan Xuan asked.

"No, I figured it out myself," Amon replied.

"Oh? A smartass, eh? You know, I used to eat smartass for breakfast. Those morons all think they are smarter than me. Hah! What is the point of being smart when I can bury them with a wave of my hand? Do you want me to bury you with a wave of my hand, boy?" Luan Xuan threatened.
