60: Chapter 49: Pursuit Plan_2 60: Chapter 49: Pursuit Plan_2 “Didn’t you worry about…” Nora was shocked; she knew that Medea had a fear of men, if she was touched by someone on the street…

the entire train might have exploded.

“Hey, not only do I have an outrageously stunning beauty, I’m also a Mind Mage, okay?” Medea rolled her eyes at her.

“A group Mind Suggestion sent them all running to the bathroom with diarrhea.”

“Alright then.” Nora breathed a sigh of relief, but couldn’t help but offer a silent prayer for the men queuing up at the restroom door.

Don’t ever offend a Mind Mage, otherwise, who knows what kind of messy thoughts might be implanted.

Several hours later, the train arrived in Stanimaka, a small town styled like Thrace, primarily featuring Orthodox-style architecture with white walls and red roofs.

As the three of them got off the train, they saw more than a dozen fully armed mercenaries standing on the platform.

They were burly Franks, with yellowish-brown sideburns and curly hair, holding canned beers and chatting leisurely, their voices booming like thunder.

Their weapons were specially designed Two-Handed Greatswords, the hilts alone as long as a man’s forearm, featuring double bladed edges and protective guards.

Due to their excessively large size, it was impossible to have a scabbard, so they were wrapped casually with cloth strips and carried on their backs.

“Gothic Two-Handed Swordsmen.” Aske remarked.

“The most reckless fighters.

See those Extra Large Swords they’re carrying?

Those swords require a special method to exert force to swing them, and once they start swinging, there’s hardly any skill involved.”

“There used to be a lot of people who liked this profession, even formed something called ‘Giant Sword God Sect’.

Combined with a Bloodline focusing on Explosive Power, they were really tough to deal with initially.”

“Physical giants are often mental dwarfs.” Medea assessed, “Their resistance to Mind Power abilities must be very weak.”

“Aske,” Nora asked, looking over there, “do you see the emblem on the back armor, a large sword surrounded by a thorny vine?

Is that the mark of some Mercenary Group?”

“It’s from the largest Mercenary Group within the Holy Solomon Empire, Steel Cross (Stahlkreuzung),” Aske replied.

“The official members are said to number over ten thousand.”

So, they were the Steel Cross…

Nora suddenly remembered that her older sister had mentioned knowing the Squad Leader of the Steel Cross Mercenaries, even saying she could introduce her.

Thinking about being surrounded and fawned over by these strapping Frankish men, she immediately shuddered as if taken by a chill.

Better to stay with The Azure Longsword, surrounded by the familiar lovely girls.

And the only male in their group, Mr.

Aske, certainly didn’t make her uncomfortable.

Perhaps the three of them had been staring over there too long, as one of the Frankish mercenaries noticed their gaze, pointed it out to a companion, and then turned to walk towards them.

Nora immediately showed a somewhat frightened expression and hid behind Aske, while Medea just looked coldly over there, snapping her fingers.

“Scram,” she said.

The Frankish mercenaries didn’t hear her voice, but they seemed to fall into some sort of hesitation and inner struggle, ultimately turning around reluctantly and walking away.

“Trying to flirt?” Aske asked.

“No, they came to provoke.

They don’t like being spied on,” Medea said indifferently, “Also, I read something interesting from their superficial memories.”

“I guess they’re also looking for that wild map BOSS,” Aske said, “Fengkexim, right?”

“Exactly,” Medea responded, “It’s certain that Fengkexim, as a fugitive from the Church Court, has already attracted the attention of many mercenary groups, with the Steel Cross Mercenaries being just one of them.”

“They suspect that Fengkexim is in the mountains south of the town, which the locals call the ‘Rhodope Mountains.’ Crossing the mountains, one can reach the northern coast of the Aegean Sea, where you can easily find a ship to make a getaway.”

“I heard that this Fengkexim is an informant planted in the Church Court by Emperor Otto of the Divine Luo Empire?” Nora mused, “If that’s the case, why doesn’t he return to the capital, Aachen, of the Divine Luo to seek refuge instead of heading south to try to escape by sea?”

“Because those involved in espionage never end well,” Medea said with a cold laugh, “He serves not the Holy Solomon Empire but Emperor Otto himself.

For the Catholic Saxon lords within the Empire, he’s just a dishonorable Frankish apostate who has betrayed both the Divine Luo Empire and the Catholic faith.”

“Moreover, his identity has been made public, so for Otto, he’s already lost his greatest value.

Would he really return to his own country and expect that Otto would protect him for his past services?”

“So, his only choice is to flee to the East?” Nora asked.

“Besides the Seljuk Empire to the East and the Mamluk Sultanate to the South Continent, who else would shelter a traitor declared an ‘apostate’ by the Church Court?” Medea retorted.

“How pitiable,” Nora said somewhat sympathetically, “Isn’t that turning everyone into an enemy?”

Medea rolled her eyes, showing disdain for Nora’s sudden surge of ‘Mother Teresa syndrome.’

“Nora,” Aske sighed, “There’s always a reason why every NPC becomes a BOSS.”

“For NPCs that originated as Temple Knights, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say they’ve killed countless people in their lifetime.

If we Transcendents were discovered in the West, we would either be slaughtered on the spot by the Temple Knights or caught and burned alive on a pyre.

And if one had families, even their families would be massacreated.”

“Uh,” Nora suddenly felt the pity in her heart vanish, “Then let’s go find this Temple Knight…

uh, this BOSS now.”

“I have an idea,” Medea proposed, “Since the Steel Cross is also looking for this Temple Knight, and being strangers in this foreign land, they will definitely hire nearby idle mercenaries to gather information and assist them.

Even if they are certain that Fengkexim is in the mountains, it would still require a large number of people to enter the mountains and capture him, wouldn’t it?”

“You mean, we overtly accept their hiring but actually use their information channels to pinpoint and locate this BOSS?” Aske asked.

“Exactly,” Medea said with a cold smile, “My mind power abilities allow me to access their superficial memories.

Once the Steel Cross people locate Fengkexim, their strong intent to pursue him will be as noticeable as a fish surfacing for air after rain, impossible to hide in their superficial mind body.

Just one read, and we’ll know where Fengkexim is.”

“The mantis stalks the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind,” Aske nodded.

“That’s roughly the idea,” Medea pondered, “Hmm, that analogy is quite interesting.”

“Then that’s settled,” Aske finally decided, confirming their next course of action.
