Chapter 449: Chapter 64 Retreat Three Shacks

"The Azure Longsword broke through the Synthetic Human troops’ defenses!"

An alert process flashed instantly in the BI monitoring room of Solomon City.

"Avoid them!" the Bishop on duty for the day hurriedly called out.

The last report on the movement of Giotto Bell’s hands had come out: the cause was the unexpected death of The Azure Longsword’s Squad Leader (surveillance drones captured his body), leading to a Burst event in another target.

The reason for the hands moving backward was the sudden resurrection of this Squad Leader, which instantaneously soothed the target responsible for the Burst.

Of course, as to why the target’s Burst would cause Giotto Bell’s hands to jump forward 15 intervals, perhaps only the decision-making level of Cardinals would know. The directive received here by the Bishop was to absolutely not lay hands on The Azure Longsword Mercenary Corps.

Or, more precisely, once the Church Court readied to make a move against them, they already had to be prepared to wipe them out completely. Otherwise, provoking the remaining targets’ Burst would follow with endless retaliatory destruction against the Church Court. Raphael’s warning had already proven they possessed such a threat capability.

As for complete annihilation, how easy could that be? Not to mention other factors, just the presence of Nora within the team—could the Lixini Family agree to that? Even if Innocent could persuade Bishop Varian, could he also convince Kapaxilin, the current decision-maker of the Lixini Consortium? That woman was not one to be taken lightly...

Therefore, the moment the alert process flashed across the screen, the Bishop immediately made a decision following the instructions from above:

Avoid them.

Hence, in the battle lines on the battlefield, when Sigrdrifa and Eleanor swung their weapons, the Synthetic Humans in front rapidly retreated, dodging their attacks.

And then they continued to retreat, retreat, and retreat.

Until they were all gone.

Leaving only the people of The Azure Longsword on the empty battlefield, faces full of confusion, hair tousled by the wind.

Miel’s rifle was still firing in bursts, but no matter how many Synthetic Humans she knocked down, the remaining enemies showed no intention of returning fire, instead moving their metallic legs to run as fast as possible.

What the hell was this?

Not just The Azure Longsword but also the distant command camp, the Emperor, and the Dukes witnessed this inexplicable scene.

"Is this, is this also a Law?" the Emperor mused, "You said last time that her Law Ability is to turn order into chaos. Could it even disrupt the enemy formation’s order?"

"I feel like it’s like a pre-set program..." muttered Duke Wolf, but no one paid him heed because the Emperor quickly realized the immense value in this opportunity.

A precious chance to disrupt the enemy’s siege formation!

Members of The Azure Longsword Mercenary Corps continued to push forward at full speed, with all Synthetic Humans retreating swiftly, leaving behind a massive passageway.

"What on earth is happening?" Eleanor was completely baffled, "Nora, could it be because of your family..."

"If it were because of my family, the squad of synthetic humans we encountered during the last defense battle in Innsbruck shouldn’t have attacked us," Nora shook her head, indicating she wouldn’t take the blame for that.

After all, although the Church Court wouldn’t go out of its way to kill the direct descendants of the Lixini Family, it was an exaggeration to suggest that wherever she went, the Church Court’s troops would withdraw.

"Squad Leader, should we continue our attack?" Miel asked.

"Let’s pause for a moment," Aske replied.

"Aske, look behind us!" Mia suddenly exclaimed in surprise.

Everyone turned around and saw that in the passage they had passed through on their way here, synthetic humans were quickly closing ranks, attempting to seal the breach. Meanwhile, another group from the Emperor’s Alliance had taken advantage of the situation and entered the fray, immediately becoming entangled in a fiercely contested battle.

Clearly, the knights within the Emperor Camp were not to be underestimated. If your synthetic human forces intentionally avoid The Azure Longsword Mercenary Corps, then the Emperor’s Alliance will take advantage of your avoidance to break through your blockade, tear apart your line, and cut off your forces, achieving a breakthrough and potentially even a counter-encirclement.

From the relentless assault of the synthetic humans on these troops, it was clear that there was no "non-attacking" BUG; they simply had not attacked the members of The Azure Longsword.

Now, even the experienced Aske was perplexed by the Church Court’s baffling tactics.

Of course, confused as he was, what to do next was clear: continue to advance, creating as large a gap in the defense as possible for the Emperor’s Alliance to break through.

With that, The Azure Longsword Mercenary Corps charged forward once more, and the synthetic human forces in front of them continued to rapidly part like a tide.

The Emperor’s Alliance forces attempting to break out in this direction were now noticeably clustering. In just twenty minutes, nearly all the demigods had led their own forces through this gap.

It had to be said that these demigods truly lived up to their name. Despite the desperate interception by the newly arrived synthetic humans, they were still able to eliminate them as easily as if slicing through vegetables.

From the Weiding Family, the "Wilderness Bear" Maison swung an enormous great sword with tremendous authority. With each swing, his movements were identically replicated, cutting from left to right and then right to left. As he did so, synthetic humans on both sides were cleaved away in batches, falling like wheat beneath a scythe.

The hooked-nose demigod was the "Duke of Chaos" Widukind from the Saxony Duchy. The Saxony Duchy, a northern territory, was unique in not being ruled by one of the five major families but by a distant matrilineal relative granted fiefdom by the current Saxony Royal Family. Therefore, strictly speaking, the Duke of Chaos was also related to the Royal Family.

Although he held the title of "Duke of Chaos," his Law Ability did not directly destroy order in a monstrous way. It simply caused explosions at specified locations. While the description of his ability was very straightforward, its lethality was exceptionally terrifying because he could easily detonate within the target’s body.

With his right arm stretched out, he made a fierce sweeping motion to the side. Far-away synthetic humans exploded in a burst, with the bullets shot toward his direction similarly intercepted and deflected by the explosion.

The third demigod was an ancestor of Eleanor, Red-haired Otto from the Weisbach Family, a rare being with dual Law Abilities in "Flames" and "Sealing," with "Sealing" seeming to be the one weaved into his domain.

He merely stood there with a smiling expression as the firearms of the synthetic humans around him failed to fire. As a few synthetic humans approached, their weapons sprang halfway out of their forearms only to jam, immovable.

Then they were engulfed by flames that surged from underfoot.

Beyond these three, there was the "Mechanical Monarch," the haughty Henry from the Wolf Family; the "War God" Leopold from the Carinthia Duchy; the "Knowledge Key" Carl from the Bohemia Duchy; along with two demigods from the Saxony Royal Family, the "Acid Erosion Dragon" Hedwig and the "Dragon of Imagination" Bruno, as well as the "Imperial Sword Saint" Richarter.

Nine demigods gathered in this area, along with two giant dragons in the sky as potent as demigods themselves. They nearly annihilated the surrounding synthetic human forces, wiping out as many came their way.

Soon, the Emperor’s Alliance had finally broken through the synthetic human forces’ defense line and successfully escaped to the edge of the battlefield.
