Chapter 275: Chapter 73 Selective Concealment

"Who would have thought that Eleanor’s father’s teacher would actually be Thira’s maternal grandfather?"

Inside Fire Island, as Eleanor put it this way, everyone started to discuss fervently.

"I’ve also gathered some information about the conspiracy mentioned by the Duke," Medea spoke up. "Aske, do you remember during the duel in the arena, there was a Mind type Transcendent trying to control you?"

"I and Nora joined forces to stop him, and we extracted some interesting information from his memory."

"Heinrich is a puppet?" Aske inquired.

"That’s correct, and almost all the attendants in the squad know that Viscount Heinrich is just the nominal head of the delegation," Medea said with a sneer. "He is responsible for leading the team to the Bavarian Duchy for a routine diplomatic visit."

"However, under the guise of a diplomatic visit, the real aim is to cause a huge mutant event, with the specific executor unknown. He could only confirm it was one of the attendants in Heinrich’s team."

"A mutant event?" Thira asked, "What are the specifics?"

"The reason we’re sure it’s a mutant event is that Heinrich was given an Extraordinary Item to save his life," Medea explained. "Clearly, although he knows nothing about the secret conspiracy itself, the Wolf family obviously doesn’t want him to die in the mutant event."

"What type of Extraordinary Item?" Aske questioned.

"The Undead Sequence’s human skin book," Medea replied. "It can be used by stimulating it with Spirituality."

"The Spell recorded in it is the ’Voidification’ of the Undead I, which can temporarily transform a person’s flesh into the Ghost form of a spirit, thus avoiding most external harm."

"Heinrich is tight-lipped about this matter, but the black-robed man whose mind I read is also a Heart Stealer who has reached Mind III. I came to know about this through Mind Reading."

"Since that black-robed man can read minds, then why didn’t he just search the memories of everyone in the team?" Thira asked, frowning. "Wouldn’t that immediately identify who the mastermind is?"

"He had that idea," Medea said. "Until his Spiritual Energy sensing discovered that there was a Transcendent in the team whose Level was much higher than his. If he were to discover that person’s identity, he’d likely be killed on the spot."

"How high is the other party’s Level?"

"Close to Lv.20," Medea said. "It’s a Transcendent on the verge of stepping into Demigod status, likely the mastermind behind the mutant event. The black-robed man did not dare to probe his position and could only passively ’perceive subconsciously’ that he was staying within the squad."

"So our enemy this time, is a Transcendent who is close to Lv.20, possibly reaching Lv.19," Aske concluded. "Under the current Magic Tide Level, he can exhibit up to Lv.10 Extraordinary Ability, though his Spirituality and Physical Power are far superior to that of Level 10."

"We will be facing his true form, and I estimate this to be the strongest enemy we’ve encountered since the establishment of our team," Aske said, looking towards Eleanor with a wry smile. "If your father doesn’t provide us with adequate compensation this time, it’ll be quite the understatement."

"Should I talk to my father about this?" Eleanor hesitated.

"How would you explain the source of our information?" Medea asked. "Or do you want to tell your father that both Nora and I are heretic Transcendents? And moreover, Mind Ability Transcendents that need to be particularly wary of?"

"There’s no need to rush to tell your father, Eleanor," Thira joined in. "Since your father is convinced that the other side will only start implementing the conspiracy on the return journey, it suggests there’s something in Weisbach Palace that he fears. Otherwise, why wouldn’t he directly instigate the mutant event in Mingxing City?"

"Yes," Medea also said, "If we tell your father in advance, to be on the safe side, he might stop commissioning us and seek other powers to solve this matter instead, which would mean losing the reward for this mission."

"So we still shouldn’t tell my father?" Eleanor understood the subtext of her words. The so-called "existence that makes the opponent wary" actually referred to the half-demigod ancestor of the Weisbach family who lived in secrecy.

Since half-demigods were greatly constrained in their strength under the current Magic Tide Level, and the Spiritual Energy they consumed when using abilities could not be replenished, leading to the risk of losing control if too much was used, Eleanor didn’t want to put her father in a difficult position, so she decided to keep the matter secret for the time being.

"In short, even if we undertake this task, its difficulty and risk are still quite high," Aske concluded. "Considering that the Wolf Family’s envoy team will not leave for a while, we need to race against time to improve our own strength as soon as possible!"

To this, the girls surprisingly did not protest, clearly realizing the seriousness of the situation.

Everyone dispersed for the time being, with Thira lagging behind at the end of the group. When no one else was around, she suddenly asked Medea:

"So what information did you leave out?"

"Why would you think that?" Medea looked puzzled.

"Your reasoning," Thira said. "The reason you gave for stopping Eleanor from telling her father doesn’t hold up."

"You said that you and Nora are Mind Ability Users, and if Eleanor told her father about this, she would have to explain clearly the source of the information, thus exposing your identities as Transcendents."

"In fact, her father is my maternal grandfather’s apprentice, and the two have been in contact recently. That means my grandfather thinks the Duke is someone he can trust and has likely already informed him of our full Transcendent status. Otherwise, how could he have entrusted this task to the Squad Leader so easily?"

"What a sharp girl," Medea said with surprise, smiling at her. "If I didn’t know your Sequence, I might have thought you could read minds too."

"Since you’ve figured it out, then why did you go along with me just now to convince Eleanor?"

"Because I can tell that you and the Squad Leader have reached some sort of agreement," Thira said seriously. "Since you don’t want to lay all your cards on the table and choose to lie, why should I be the bad guy?"

"I didn’t lie," Medea said leisurely. "To be precise, everything I said was true; I just omitted some of the information."

"Right. After all, Nora can read minds. If you lied, she would quickly notice," Thira mused. "What information did you withhold?"

"The reason we chose to work independently, rather than telling the Duke of Bavaria that the mastermind is a high-level Transcendent, is indeed just as I said before—to avoid the Duke not trusting us. That could lead to him stopping commissioning us and seeking other powers to resolve this matter, resulting in us not getting the reward in the end."

Medea held up a finger: "However, the reward I’m referring to here is not the one from the Duke’s commission."

"It’s the Extraordinary Traits we could acquire after killing that enemy."

"You mean..." Thira immediately understood, "the Hussite?"

"Exactly," Medea said. "It is highly likely that the Hussite Transcendent will have the Magic Potion Sequence that Peggy will need next."

"So, if the Weisbach family half-demigod steps in to take care of it, then we won’t be able to get our hands on these things."

"Just for that, is it really worth taking even greater risks?" Thira said with concern.
